Suarez went 1-for-2 with a walk and a two-run home run in Saturday's 17-5 loss to the Cubs.
Suarez jumped on a Kevin Gausman fastball up in the zone for his 20th home run of the season. He's recorded at least 20 homers in 10 of his last 11 seasons, with the pandemic-shortened 2020 campaign being the outlier. After he was placed on outright waivers last week, there were no takers for Suarez, so he rejoined the Reds and should remain with the club through the end of the season.

Reds' Eugenio Suarez: Stays with Reds after clearing waivers
Suarez has cleared outright waivers and will remain with the Reds, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.
Suarez has slashed only .208/.295/.410 with a 34.9 percent strikeout rate this season and doesn't have much defensive value, so it's not surprising that teams were unwilling to pay him around $3 million for the remainder of the season. The 35-year-old should continue to see everyday at-bats for Cincinnati down the stretch.

Reds' Eugenio Suarez: Placed on outright waivers
The Reds placed Suarez on outright waivers Wednesday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
The Reds signed Suarez to a $15 million deal during the offseason in an effort to bolster their offense and contend for a postseason berth. However, with a month remaining in the regular season, Cincinnati sits in last place in the NL Central at 63-71 -- nine games back of the final wild-card spot. The team will now attempt to save some money by making Suarez available to the other 29 teams via waivers, but the 35-year-old is not a lock to be claimed after slashing just .208/.295/.410 across 410 plate appearances this season while still carrying a $3 million price tag for the rest of the year.

Suarez went 0-for-2 before exiting Sunday's 9-4 loss to the Pirates after being hit in the left wrist by a pitch in the sixth inning. According to Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer, Suarez said that X-rays and a CT scan on his wrist both returned negative, leaving him optimistic that he'll be "ready to go" for the Reds' four-game set in Milwaukee. The Reds will keep him on the bench for the series opener, however, as Elly De La Cruz gets a night off from playing shortstop while he manages a sprained ankle but sticks in the starting nine at Suarez's usual spot at designated hitter.

Suarez (hand/wrist) underwent X-rays, which were inconclusive, after his departure from Sunday's 9-4 loss to the Pirates, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.
Suarez left Sunday's contest in the eighth inning after taking a 92.4 mph four-seam fastball from Mitch Keller off his left hand/wrist in the top of the sixth. The veteran slugger is expected to undergo additional imaging Monday morning, and his status moving forward will likely be updated then. The Reds are set to host the Brewers for a four-game set beginning Monday, and Suarez can be considered day-to-day for the time being.
