Marte (knee) is expected to be activated from the 10-day injured list ahead of the Diamondbacks' series opener against the Phillies on Aug. 31, Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com reports.
Marte is increasing his baseball activities this week while recovering from left knee inflammation, which forced him to the IL last Thursday. The injury isn't considered a long-term issue, and the expectation is that the veteran second baseman will be available for the final month of the regular season. Ildemaro Vargas has been serving as the Diamondbacks' primary option at the keystone in Marte's absence over the past week.

Marte (knee) is throwing and doing upper-body work at the Diamondbacks' spring training facility Saturday, Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports reports.

After being on the restricted list all week following his no-show for the team's series in Boston, Marte will now spend at least the next 10 days on the injured list. General manager Mike Hazen said earlier Thursday he expected Marte to rejoin the team following his trip to the IL, but it's unclear if that will be in 10 days or longer, as there's been no indication of the severity of Marte's inflammation. Marte went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 4-2 win over the Dodgers.
Marte has regularly batted cleanup since July 25, but the results haven't really been there. He's 8-for-54 (.148) with two homers, two doubles and four RBI over his 14 contests in that spot. On the bright side, the second baseman secured his fourth straight 20-homer campaign with his long ball Sunday. He's hitting .244 with a .744 OPS, 64 RBI, 61 runs scored, 22 doubles, three triples and four stolen bases over 113 games this season and should be able to hit his way out of this slump eventually.
