  • Mariners' Jesse Hahn: Inks minors deal with Seattle

Hahn signed a minor-league contract with the Mariners on Wednesday. Hahn posted a 4.54 ERA and 1.53 WHIP across 41.2 innings with the Dodgers' Triple-A affiliate before being released Thursday. The 35-year-old righty will now give the Mariners some extra organizational depth down the stretch, though he likely won't see any action in the big leagues.

  • Dodgers' Jesse Hahn: Receives minors deal from Dodgers

Hahn signed a minor-league contract with the Dodgers on Wednesday that includes an invitation to spring training, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. Hahn has not pitched professionally since 2021 and ended that season with shoulder problems. He is presumably healthy now and the Dodgers will see if the 34-year-old has anything left. Hahn has posted a 4.22 ERA over 82 appearances (50 starts) across parts of seven major-league seasons.

  • Jesse Hahn: Becomes free agent

Hahn (shoulder) elected free agency Wednesday. Hahn missed most of the 2021 season due to right shoulder impingement syndrome and will now seek out another club as a free agent. He made 29 appearances across his three seasons with the Royals and posted a 4.62 ERA and 1.34 WHIP in 25.1 innings.

  • Royals' Jesse Hahn: Running out of time for return

The Royals remain hopeful that Hahn (shoulder) will be ready to resume live pitching before the end of the season, even though he remains limited to throwing off a mound in significantly controlled settings, MLB.com reports. Even if Hahn advances to facing hitters before season's end, the Royals don't seem to have much optimism that he'll actually be ready to return from the 60-day injured list to pitch in games. The Royals initially placed Hahn on the IL on April 12 with right shoulder impingement syndrome, and though he resumed a rehab assignment a month later, he made only two appearances in the minors before being shut down when he experienced a setback.

  • Royals' Jesse Hahn: Transferred to 60-day injured list

Hahn (shoulder) was transferred Saturday to the 60-day IL. Hahn had appeared ready to return from the injured list and rejoin the Royals' bullpen, but it's unclear what caused this unexpected setback. The reliever can now return from the IL no sooner than June 11.

  • Royals' Jesse Hahn: Not yet activated

Hahn (shoulder) has been returned from his rehab assignment but not activated from the injured list, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports. There was a previous report from the club that Hahn had been reinstsated from the injured list, though that was later corrected. Hahn exited his rehab outing after only one batter Wednesday, and he will now undergo more tests prior to any decision being made about his status.

  • Royals' Jesse Hahn: Reinstated from injured list

Hahn (shoulder) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Thursday. Hahn left Wednesday's rehab appearance with a trainer after he faced just one batter, but the issue apparently wasn't serious. The right-hander spent just over a month on the injured list but will now rejoin the Royals' bullpen going forward. Hahn made five relief appearances to begin the season and posted a 13.50 ERA and 2.70 WHIP in 3.1 innings.

  • Royals' Jesse Hahn: Nearing return

Hahn (shoulder) is very close to returning to the Royals, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports. Hahn has made two appearances in his rehab asssignment at Triple-A Omaha, pitching 1.2 scoreless innings with two strikeouts. The righty may not pitch in high-leverage situations immediately upon returning, considering his early-season struggles in such spots, but he still figures to have a significant role in the Royals' bullpen.

  • Royals' Jesse Hahn: Rehab assignment on tap

Hahn (shoulder) will report to Triple-A Omaha for a rehab assignment Thursday. The right-hander has been sidelined since mid-April with a right shoulder impingement, so it's not much of a surprise he'll head to the minors for some reps before being activated from the injured list. Hahn had a tough start to the season with five runs given up over 3.1 innings through five appearances.

  • Royals' Jesse Hahn: Close to throwing live

Hahn (shoulder) is throwing his second bullpen Friday and will throw live his next time out, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports. The reliever last appeared in a game on April 11 before being placed on the injured list the next day. Hahn's early-season struggles, highlighted by a 13.50 ERA and four walks in just 3.1 innings, may have been attributable to the shoulder issue, as he pitched fine while logging one save in his first three appearances before unraveling in his next two.

  • Royals' Jesse Hahn: Throws off mound

Hahn (shoulder) threw off a mound and felt good, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports. This presumably happened Monday or Tuesday. Hahn's recovery will proceed incrementally, per Lewis, so it sounds like he's still multiple weeks away from returning.

  • Royals' Jesse Hahn: Moving around well

Hahn (shoulder) has been moving around well on the field recently, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports. Hahn has been on the 10-day injured list since April 12 due to right shoulder impingement syndrome, but he appears to be doing well in his recovery process. The Royals haven't yet established a timetable for Hahn's return, but he seems to be trending in the right direction. Prior to his absence, Hahn picked up one save and posted a 13.50 ERA and 2.70 WHIP in 3.1 innings across five relief appearances.

  • Royals' Jesse Hahn: Takes second blown save

Hahn allowed two runs on a hit and two walks and failed to record an out while taking a blown save in Sunday's 4-3 extra-inning win over the White Sox. Hahn walked Yermin Mercedes and allowed a two-run homer to Adam Eaton to take his second blown save of the year. After Hahn walked Zack Collins to meet the three-batter minimum, Greg Holland was brought on in relief. The 31-year-old Hahn has one save, one hold and two blown saves across five appearances this season. He's posted a 13.50 ERA, 2.70 WHIP and 3:4 K:BB in 3.1 innings. If he continues to pitch ineffectively, he may see lower-leverage assignments.

  • Royals' Jesse Hahn: Allows two-run homer

Hahn gave up two runs on two hits over one inning in Wednesday's 4-2 loss to Cleveland. He was charged with a blown save. Hahn entered the game in the sixth inning and gave up a two-run homer to Jose Ramirez. Across four outings this season, Hahn has a save, a hold and a blown save. He's allowed three runs, four hits and two walks in 3.1 innings, which makes him a bit volatile early in the year. The 31-year-old isn't expected to be in the closing conversation this season, but he could still see some work in high-leverage situations.

  • Royals' Jesse Hahn: Notches first save

Hahn earned the save by allowing one walk and one hit in a scoreless inning Monday against Cleveland. Hahn issued a walk and surrendered a single to begin the bottom of the ninth, but he quickly settled down, inducing a double play followed by a groundout to end the game. It was a bit surprising to see Hahn get the call in the ninth, though Greg Holland did struggle on Opening Day in a save situation. Hahn has allowed one run on two hits and two walks while fanning three over 2.1 frames in three relief appearances so far this season.

  • Royals' Jesse Hahn: Earns hold

Hahn allowed one run on a hit and a walk and struck out two in one inning during Thursday's 14-10 win over the Rangers. He earned a hold in the appearance. Hahn was given the ball for the sixth inning, allowing an RBI single to Rangers designated hitter Eli White. The 31-year-old Hahn isn't expected to see much work in the late innings to start this season. He posted an impressive 0.52 ERA, 0.69 WHIP, three saves and five holds in 18 appearances last season. Should the likes of Greg Holland, Scott Barlow or Josh Staumont falter, Hahn could begin to take higher-leverage assignments.

  • Royals' Jesse Hahn: Avoids arbitration with Royals

Hahn agreed to a one-year, $1.75 million contract with the Royals on Tuesday, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports. He will avoid arbitration with the Royals and will hit the open market after the 2021 season. Hahn logged a 0.52 ERA, 0.69 WHIP and 19:8 K:BB in 17.1 innings (18 appearances) out of the bullpen last season and should compete for a high-leverage role in camp.

  • Royals' Jesse Hahn: Picks up second save

Hahn pitched a scoreless ninth inning with one walk and two strikeouts to earn the save in Friday's 3-2 win over the Tigers. Hahn walked Niko Goodrum, but whiffed Brandon Dixon and Eric Haase after that to escape the danger. It was Hahn's second save of the season to go with five holds, a 0.55 ERA and 0.67 WHIP in 16.1 innings. With Greg Holland (oblique) on the injured list to close out the year, Hahn could be in the mix if any save opportunities arise over the last two days of the season.

  • Royals' Jesse Hahn: Earns first career save

Hahn struck out the only two batters he faced to record the save during Saturday's 9-6 win over the White Sox. Ian Kennedy began the ninth inning with a 9-3 lead, but he surrendered three runs (two earned) before getting lifted with an apparent injury, allowing Hahn the chance to notch the first save of his career in clean-up duty. Hahn has been solid in limited action for the Royals this season, allowing one hit with a 7:3 K:BB across five innings. The 31-year-old had never even recorded a hold in his career prior to Saturday, and he's unlikely to be a factor for the closer's role even after the departure of Trevor Rosenthal.
