  • Rockies' Ty Blach: Sticks in organization

Blach cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday. The left-hander was designated for assignment by Colorado over the weekend but will stick in the organization after passing through waivers unclaimed. Blach has made 20 appearances (12 starts) for the Rockies this season and has a 6.94 ERA, 1.70 WHIP and 36:18 K:BB in 71.1 innings.

  • Rockies' Ty Blach: DFA'd by Colorado

The Rockies designated Blach for assignment Sunday. Blach was called up from Triple-A Albuquerque on Sept. 1 after Cal Quantrill (tricep) was placed on the 15-day injured list. Blach took the loss in both of his starts since his call-up, allowing 11 runs (10 earned) on 11 hits and two walks while striking out two over 7.2 innings. Blach was serving as a placeholder in the Rockies' rotation, and with Antonio Senzatela (elbow) nearing his return from the 60-day IL, there doesn't appear to be any room on the 40-man roster for the former. Right-hander Victor Vodnik (biceps) was reinstated from the 15-day injured list in a corresponding move.

  • Rockies' Ty Blach: Tagged with eighth loss

Blach (3-8) allowed five runs on six hits over 3.2 innings Saturday, he struck out one and took the loss against Milwaukee. Blach fell victim to the long ball, tying a career high with three home runs allowed. He allowed back-to-back homers to Willy Adames and Gary Sanchez in the first inning, and then a two-run blast to William Contreras in the third. Blach was given a second straight start after being called up on Sept. 1, but he's been lit up for five runs in each of those appearances. The 33-year-old has a 6.94 ERA through 71.1 innings this season.

  • Rockies' Ty Blach: Drawing second straight start

Blach is scheduled to start Saturday's game against the Brewers in Milwaukee. The veteran southpaw will pick up a second straight turn through the rotation after he yielded five earned runs on five hits and two walks over four innings last Sunday versus the Orioles in his return from Triple-A Albuquerque. Blach is likely just a placeholder in the rotation until the Rockies get Antonio Senzatela (elbow) back from the 60-day injured list, perhaps as soon as next week.

  • Rockies' Ty Blach: Coughs up five runs

Blach (3-7) yielded five runs on five hits and two walks over four innings Sunday, striking out one and taking a loss against Baltimore. Blach was promoted from Triple-A Albuquerque for his first MLB appearance since July 26. He gave up one run through three innings before Baltimore's four-run fourth frame, capped off by James McCann's two-run blast. Blach now owns a 6.65 ERA with a 35:18 K:BB through 67.2 innings with Colorado this season. He's currently scheduled to start in Milwaukee next weekend, but it's unclear if he'll get another turn in the rotation.

  • Rockies' Ty Blach: Called up ahead of start

The Rockies selected Blach's contract from Triple-A Albuquerque ahead of his scheduled start Sunday against the Orioles. Colorado placed right-hander Cal Quantrill (tricep) on the 15-day injured list to open up room on the 28-man active roster and in the rotation for Blach. The soft-tossing southpaw has previously made 18 appearances (10 starts) for Colorado this season, pitching to a 3-6 record with a 6.36 ERA, 1.70 WHIP and 34:16 K:BB in 63.2 innings.

  • Rockies' Ty Blach: Starting Sunday vs. Baltimore

Blach will be recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque and draw the start in Sunday's series finale against the Orioles, Patrick Lyons of JustBaseball.com reports. Blach will take the spot of Cal Quantrill, who was scratched from his scheduled start due to right triceps inflammation. Blach was DFA'd by Colorado in late July after posting a 6.36 ERA and 1.70 WHIP across 63.2 innings, but he opted to stay within the organization at the Triple-A level rather than enter free agency. He'll now rejoin the big club and could stick around in the rotation if Quantrill misses extended time.

  • Rockies' Ty Blach: Goes unclaimed off waivers

The Rockies outrighted Blach to Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday after he cleared waivers. Blach had the option of electing free agency, but he'll instead stick around in the Colorado organization, with whom he's spent the past two-plus seasons. Before being cast off the Rockies' 40-man roster July 27, Blach made 18 appearances (10 starts) for the big club, posting a 6.36 ERA and 1.70 WHIP across 63.2 innings.

  • Rockies' Ty Blach: Hit hard in loss

Blach (3-6) allowed six runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out one over 2.1 innings to take the loss Tuesday versus the Red Sox. Blach actually ended up pitching the least of the three Rockies who took the hill Tuesday, as his return to the rotation was greeted by Boston's bats. Tyler O'Neill did most of the damage with two home runs. Blach threw 59 pitches (38 strikes) in this outing and may continue to stretch out if he remains in the rotation going forward. He has a 6.13 ERA, 1.65 WHIP and 33:14 K:BB through 61.2 innings over 17 appearances (10 starts) this year, finding minimal success irrespective of whether he's served as a starter or reliever.

  • Rockies' Ty Blach: Shifts to relief role

Blach gave up one earned run on three hits and one walk while striking out a batter out of the bullpen in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Brewers. Blach made his second relief appearance since losing his spot in the rotation when the Rockies welcomed Kyle Freeland back from the injured list June 23. Over his nine starts with Colorado, Blach turned in a 5.83 ERA and 1.60 WHIP in 46.1 innings.

  • Rockies' Ty Blach: Roughed up by Dodgers

Blach (3-5) allowed five runs on 10 hits and one walk while striking out two batters over four innings in a loss to the Dodgers on Thursday. Blach was hit hard in the start -- five of the 10 hits he allowed, including three homers, went for extra bases. It was the first time this season he's served up three homers in an outing, and the five runs he allowed were the second-most he's surrendered in a start this season. Blach is off the fantasy radar given his home park and the fact that he's compiled a 5.13 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and 29:10 K:BB over 54.1 innings this season.

  • Rockies' Ty Blach: Narrowly misses quality start

Blach (3-4) picked up the win over the Pirates on Saturday, allowing two runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out five over 5.2 innings. Blach was effective early, striking out the first two batters he faced in the contest and going 1-2-3 through the first two frames. He would go on to surrender a solo homer to Nick Gonzales in the fourth and a second run in the sixth, but the lefty was able to hang on to earn his fourth win of the season and his first in the month of June. Blach has gone at least five innings in five straight outings, issuing multiple walks only one time over that stretch. However, he's also given up at least seven hits in three consecutive starts.

  • Rockies' Ty Blach: Coughs up four runs

Blach (2-4) yielded four runs on eight hits and a walk over five innings Sunday, striking out three and taking a loss against the Cardinals. Blach never quite found a groove Sunday, allowing at least one run in the second, third and fourth frames. He's given up eight runs in 10 innings so far this month after ending May with two straight quality starts. The 33-year-old southpaw's ERA has climbed to 4.84 with a 22:8 K:BB through 44.2 innings this season. Blach's next start is projected to be at home against the PIrates.

  • Rockies' Ty Blach: Loses to Reds

Blach (2-3) allowed four runs on 10 hits and struck out two without walking a batter over five innings, taking the loss Tuesday versus the Reds. The Rockies had just six baserunners in the contest, giving Blach virtually no support. This game was a bit of a step back for the southpaw, who had posted quality starts in each of his previous two outings. Blach is now at a 4.54 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 19:7 K:BB through 39.2 innings over nine appearances (six starts) this season. He's projected to make his next start on the road at St. Louis.

  • Rockies' Ty Blach: Sharp in second win

Blach (2-2) earned the win over the Guardians on Wednesday, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks over seven innings while striking out five. Th lefty got touched for two runs in the first inning, but was fortunate to receive plenty of run support early after the Rockies got to Logan Allen for seven runs over the first two frames. Blach would not allow another run after the first and produced three 1-2-3 innings en route to posting his second win of the season. He struck out a season-high five batters in the contest while also going seven innings for the first time in the campaign. He's now logged back-to-back quality starts and has won two of his last three decisions (spanning four outings).

  • Rockies' Ty Blach: Stays in rotation

Blach is scheduled to start Saturday's game against the Giants in San Francisco, He'll be awarded a second consecutive turn through the rotation after he limited the Rangers to one run on seven hits and no walks over five innings en route to grabbing his first win of the season in his previous start Sunday. With Kyle Freeland's (elbow) return from the 15-day injured list not considered imminent, Blach should have a fair amount of security in the rotation.

  • Rockies' Ty Blach: Draws starting nod Sunday

Blach is slated to start Sunday's game against the Rangers at Coors Field. Blach will pick up his second start of the season as he joins the rotation as a replacement for Peter Lambert, who was recently moved to the bullpen. The veteran southpaw had worked in relief in both of his past two appearances for Colorado, but because he handled four- and three-inning workloads in those outings, he should be reasonably stretched out as he re-enters the rotation.

  • Rockies' Ty Blach: Returns to bullpen

Blach tossed three innings out of the bullpen in Tuesday's 5-0 loss to the Giants, giving up one earned run on four hits and one walk while striking out two. Blach made a five-inning spot start for the Rockies in an April 24 loss to the Padres, but he's since moved into a long-relief role. After tossing four shutout innings behind starter Peter Lambert in a 5-4 loss to the Marlins on May 2, Blach was called upon to cover multiple frames once again Tuesday and pitched effectively.

  • Rockies' Ty Blach: Tosses five innings in loss

Blach (0-1) took the loss against San Diego on Wednesday, allowing four runs on five hits and two walks without striking out any batters over five innings. Blach tossed an inning in relief in his season debut debut Monday, so it was a bit of a surprise to see him go five frames and throw 76 pitches two days later. The left-hander looked like he could be headed for an early exit after giving up four first-inning runs, but to his credit, he finished off his outing with four straight scoreless frames. It's unclear how Blach will be used by the Rockies moving forward -- last season, 13 of his 20 appearances for the team came in a starting role, while he made just one start across 24 outings in 2022.

  • Rockies' Ty Blach: Draws start Wednesday

Blach is slated to start Wednesday's game against the Padres at Coors Field. Per Patrick Lyons of JustBaseball.com, the Rockies are likely to treat Wednesday's contest as a bullpen day, as Blach tossed an inning of relief Monday and may not be ready to handle a typical starter's workload just two days later. Prior to getting a call-up from Triple-A Albuquerque last weekend, Blach had made four starts for the Rockies' top affiliate, logging a 3.45 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 12:2 K:BB in 15.2 innings. Blach will presumably be in line for just one start before moving back to the bullpen after Wednesday's game.
