  • Kyle Farmer: Option declined

The Twins declined Farmer's mutual option for 2025 on Thursday, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports. Farmer spent two years with the Twins and was in a reserve role for most of 2024. He managed only 242 appearances across 107 games while recording a .646 OPS. Farmer's defensive versatility could lead to him receiving a big-league deal this offseason, but he's unlikely to be a regular in most lineups.

  • Twins' Kyle Farmer: Back on bench Wednesday

Farmer is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Marlins. Farmer has served as a short-side platoon player for much of the season, but he was included in the lineup in four of the Twins' last five games, with two of those starts coming against right-handed pitching. He'll take a seat against Marlins righty Edward Cabrera on Wednesday, though Farmer's playing-time outlook still appears to have improved with Matt Wallner's (oblique) recent move to the injured list creating an open spot in the lineup.

  • Twins' Kyle Farmer: Sitting after consecutive starts

Farmer is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels. Farmer drew a rare start against a right-hander (Griffin Canning) in Tuesday's 10-5 win and came through with a big night, going 2-for-3 with a home run, a walk, three RBI and an additional run. Though the home run was his second in as many days and helped bring his OPS up to 1.471 in September, Farmer looks like he'll remain in a short-side platoon role for the Twins.

  • Twins' Kyle Farmer: Activated from IL

The Twins activated Farmer (shoulder) from the 10-day injured list Friday, Declan Goff of SKOR North reports. He's been sidelined for nearly a month with a right shoulder strain but is ready to go after playing three rehab games with Triple-A St. Paul. Farmer is starting at second base and batting ninth in the first game of Friday's doubleheader against the Guardians.

  • Twins' Kyle Farmer: Beginning rehab stint

Farmer (shoulder) is starting a rehab assignment Tuesday with Triple-A St. Paul, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports. Farmer has been out nearly a month due to a shoulder strain but has now been cleared for game action. The 33-year-old may not require a lengthy rehab stint before rejoining the Twins.

  • Twins' Kyle Farmer: Out with shoulder strain

The Twins placed Farmer on the 10-day injured list Friday due to a right shoulder strain, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports. Farmer hasn't seen a ton of action in July with nine at-bats in six games, and it's unclear when he picked up the shoulder injury. The 33-year-old will be eligible to be activated early in the second half but is without an official timeline for his return.

  • Twins' Kyle Farmer: Rejoins lineup for doubleheader

Farmer (finger) will start at second base and bat ninth in the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader with the White Sox. Farmer hadn't played in either of the Twins' last two games after he exited the team's 3-2 win over the Astros on Sunday, when he was hit on the index finger by a pitch. The injury is apparently a non-issue at this point, however, as Farmer will head back into the starting nine for the second leg of the twin bill. The right-handed-hitting Farmer typically makes most of his starts against left-handed pitching, but he'll face off against White Sox righty Drew Thorpe on Wednesday.

  • Twins' Kyle Farmer: Exits with sore hand

Farmer left Sunday's 3-2 win over Houston in the sixth inning after getting hit by a pitch on his index finger in the fourth inning, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. X-rays administered after the game didn't show any fractures, so Farmer is likely just managing a sore or bruised finger. He went 0-for-2 with a pair of strikeouts Sunday before departing, dropping his batting line to .192/.295/.269 over 149 plate appearances on the season. Farmer has largely served as a short-side platoon player in the Twins infield this season, seeing most of his starts against left-handed pitching.

  • Twins' Kyle Farmer: Retreating to bench role Sunday

Farmer is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros. Farmer started at second base in Saturday's 5-2 loss, but he'll be back on the bench for the series finale. While Minnesota is at full strength in the infield save for Royce Lewis (quadricep), Farmer will likely be relegated to a short-side platoon role at second base with the lefty-hitting Edouard Julien, who is back in the lineup Sunday.

  • Twins' Kyle Farmer: Returns to bench role

Farmer is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox. Farmer will hit the bench for Wednesday's series finale after he had started in each of the last five games (three at second base, two at third base). The platoon-happy Twins should continue to find room for the righty-hitting Farmer in the lineup when southpaws are on the mound for the opposition, but Farmer's opportunities at third base will likely become more scarce moving forward. Carlos Correa returned from the 10-day injured list Monday to take back an everyday role at shortstop, and Edouard Julien and Willi Castro look first in line to start at second and third base, respectively, when the Twins oppose righties.

  • Twins' Kyle Farmer: Gets fourth straight start

Farmer will start at second base and bat ninth in Monday's game against the White Sox. Farmer is included in the lineup for a fourth straight game, but his ongoing presence in the starting nine is a byproduct of the Twins facing three left-handed starting pitchers during that stretch. The 33-year-old is still expected to hit the bench when the Twins oppose right-handers more often than not.

  • Twins' Kyle Farmer: RBI in loss

Farmer went 1-for-3 with an RBI in a 4-2 loss to the Orioles on Wednesday. Farmer has played in six games since Carlos Correa injured his oblique, bouncing between third base and shortstop over the past week. While the Twins have said Correa's injury is relatively minor, his return date remains unclear, which should open up opportunities for Farmer to get more at-bats. A lifetime .252 hitter, there's bound to be a bit of positive regression to the mean with Farmer batting .097 across 38 at-bats this season.

  • Twins' Kyle Farmer: On bench Saturday

Farmer is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Royals. Farmer got the start at second base for the season opener Thursday and finished 0-for-3 with one walk and two strikeouts. With the Royals starting right-hander Seth Lugo on Saturday, Edouard Julien will draw the start at second base. However, Farmer may see most of his action at third base with Royce Lewis out a month or more with a quad injury. Willi Castro and Farmer are likely to platoon at third base in his absence.

  • Twins' Kyle Farmer: Getting start against southpaw

Farmer is starting at second base and batting seventh for the Twins in Thursday's opener versus the Royals. Farmer gets the nod at the keystone with the Royals starting southpaw Cole Ragans. The 33-year-old utility player had a .781 OPS against left-handed pitching last season for Minnesota.

  • Twins' Kyle Farmer: Set to platoon at 2B

Farmer looks set to platoon with Edouard Julien at second base and serve as the primary backup at shortstop, MLB.com reports. He's gone 1-for-9 in three games this spring. Julien could get more playing time if he improves against left-handed pitching, but Farmer should get steady starts at second base against lefties to begin the season. Farmer is a plus glove at second base, but his lack of premium power and lower contact rate (74.4%) exposes his deficiences with everyday duty.

  • Twins' Kyle Farmer: Swats two-run homer

Farmer went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and an additional run against the White Sox in a 10-2 win Thursday. Farmer's blast in the seventh inning gave the Twins a 6-0 lead and marked the end of Chicago starter Jose Urena's outing. It was the second straight game with a long ball for Farmer, marking the second time he has gone deep in back-to-back contests this season. Farmer is slashing .254/.311/.424 with 11 home runs, 36 RBI, 42 runs and one stolen base across 106 contests on the campaign.

  • Twins' Kyle Farmer: Blasts three-run homer

Farmer went 1-for-2 with a three-run home run in Monday's 20-6 win over the Guardians. Farmer slugged one of the Twins' three home runs against position player David Fry, who covered the final four innings of the contest to save the Guardians bullpen in a game Cleveland was already trailing by 10 runs when he took over in the top of the sixth. The 33-year-old utility player is now up to nine home runs on the season, with three coming in his last seven games.

  • Twins' Kyle Farmer: Filling in for resting Julien

Farmer will start at third base and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Rangers. Farmer will pick up a start against Texas lefty Jordan Montgomery while the lefty-hitting Edouard Julien exits the lineup. Though he's posted an .840 OPS since the All-Star break, Farmer's opportunities are likely to be limited mostly to facing left-handed pitching while the Minnesota infield is at close to full strength.

  • Twins' Kyle Farmer: Belts homer in win

Farmer went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and two walks in Tuesday's 10-3 win over the Mariners. After a 23-game span with no homers, Farmer's gone deep in two of his last three games. The infielder is up to six long balls, 21 RBI, 29 runs scored and one stolen base while slashing .246/.313/.393 over 66 contests this season. Farmer should remain a fixture in the lineup versus left-handed pitchers, but he may lose more time against righties once Jorge Polanco (hamstring) returns from the injured list.

  • Twins' Kyle Farmer: Breaks homer drought

Farmer went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, a double and two additional RBI in Saturday's win over the Athletics. After going without a home run for 23 games, Farmer took Freddy Tarnok yard in the seventh inning for his fifth long ball of the campaign. The multi-hit effort broke Farmer out of a slump during which he batted 5-for-34 (.147) over 14 games.
