  • Bradley Zimmer: Parts ways with Colorado

Zimmer was released by the Rockies on Sunday, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports. The 31-year-old was let go Sunday with the Rockies acquiring Jake Cave from the Phillies. Zimmer had a strong showing during spring training with a .341/.400/.512 slash line in 45 plate appearances.

  • Rockies' Bradley Zimmer: Lands in Colorado as NRI

Zimmer signed a minor-league contract with the Rockies on Tuesday that includes an invitation to spring training, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. Zimmer spent time at the Triple-A level in the Dodgers and Red Sox organizations in 2023, hitting eight homers and stealing 19 bases in 78 games. The 31-year-old has a career .631 OPS and 33.9 percent strikeout rate over parts of six major-league seasons. He'll try to win a reserve outfielder role in Colorado.

  • Red Sox's Bradley Zimmer: Gets minors deal from Red Sox

Zimmer signed a minor-league contract with the Red Sox on Friday, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports. Zimmer was just released by the Dodgers, so it appears this deal was already in the works. The veteran outfielder has managed just a .665 OPS at the Triple-A level this season but will give the Red Sox some experienced outfield depth.

  • Dodgers' Bradley Zimmer: Doesn't make Opening Day roster

Zimmer was reassigned to minor-league camp by the Dodgers on Saturday, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports. Zimmer was attempting to win one of the final bench spots for the Dodgers to open the season after signing as an NRI over the winter. The former top prospect hit .276/.400/.345 with a pair of stolen bases over 20 games in the Cactus League, but he'll likely begin the 2023 season as a starting outfielder for Triple-A Oklahoma City.

  • Dodgers' Bradley Zimmer: Joins Dodgers on minor-league deal

Zimmer agreed to a minor-league contract with the Dodgers on Saturday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. Zimmer will presumably be with the big leaguers in spring training, at least to begin camp. He would seem to be a long shot to make the team, though he remains viable as an outfield reserve thanks to his speed and defense. Now 30, Zimmer has struck out in more than one-third of his 975 major-league plate appearances to date while slugging .333 across 372 games.

  • Bradley Zimmer: Officially released

The Blue Jays declined to tender Zimmer a contract for 2023. After previously being designated for assignment, Zimmer now enters free agency. Toronto took a chance on Zimmer and the experiment mostly backfired, though Zimmer remained a plus on the defensive side of the ball. Zimmer has stolen 42 bases in 372 games in the big leagues while slashing just .213/.298/.333.

  • Blue Jays' Bradley Zimmer: Dumped from 40-man roster

Zimmer was designated for assignment by the Blue Jays on Tuesday, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports. Zimmer was claimed off waivers by Toronto in August but won't stick on the 40-man roster through the offseason. He appeared in 109 games between the Phillies and Blue Jays in 2022 and posted a .435 OPS.

  • Blue Jays' Bradley Zimmer: Not on wild-card roster

Zimmer wasn't included on the Blue Jays' roster for the AL Wild Card Series versus the Mariners, Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic reports. Zimmer will join the Blue Jays' taxi squad ahead of the series with the Mariners as Toronto opted to keep just four outfielders for the wild-card round. The 29-year-old struggled to an anemic .124 batting average over 105 at-bats this season, making him an unlikely option at the plate moving forward if the Blue Jays' advance further in the postseason.

  • Blue Jays' Bradley Zimmer: Returns to Toronto

The Blue Jays claimed Zimmer off waivers from the Phillies on Monday. After he was designated for assignment by the Phillies on Saturday, Zimmer will return to the Blue Jays, who DFA'd him earlier in the month. The outfielder doesn't provide much from the plate, but he's proven to be a reliable defensive option. Since he doesn't have any minor-league options remaining, Zimmer will need to be added to the Blue Jays' active roster.

  • Phillies' Bradley Zimmer: Designated for assignment

Zimmer was designated for assignment by the Phillies on Saturday. Zimmer saw some playing time against right-handed pitchers over the last week and went 4-for-16 with a double, four runs and four strikeouts over nine games. However, the 29-year-old will lose his spot on the 40-man roster after Brandon Marsh (ankle) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list.

  • Phillies' Bradley Zimmer: Not starting Wednesday

Zimmer isn't in the lineup Wednesday against the Reds. Although right-hander T.J. Zeuch is on the mound for Cincinnati on Wednesday, Zimmer will be out of the lineup for a second consecutive game. Nick Maton, Matt Vierling and Nick Castellanos are starting in the outfield from left to right.

  • Phillies' Bradley Zimmer: Steps out of lineup versus lefty

Zimmer is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Reds. The lefty-hitting Zimmer will retreat to the bench as Phillies interim manager Rob Thomson stocks up on some extra right-handed bats to counter Reds southpaw Nick Lodolo. Matt Vierling will step in for Zimmer in center field.

  • Phillies' Bradley Zimmer: Picking up regular run in CF

Zimmer will start in center field and bat ninth in Monday's game against the Reds. Zimmer will draw his fourth start in five games since joining the Phillies and appears poised to serve as the team's top option in center field versus right-handed pitching while Brandon Marsh (ankle) resides on the injured list. Through his first three starts with Philadelphia, Zimmer has gone 2-for-10 with a double and two runs.

  • Blue Jays' Bradley Zimmer: Removed from 40-man roster

Zimmer was designated for assignment by the Blue Jays on Monday. Zimmer will now either report to Triple-A Buffalo, get claimed by another team or be released outright. The outfielder has struggled to a .105/.209/.237 slashline this year over 87 at-bats in 77 games with Toronto and will likely receive little interest from other teams.

  • Blue Jays' Bradley Zimmer: Receives rare start

Zimmer will start in center field and bat ninth in Sunday's game against the Royals. With George Springer resting in the Blue Jays' final game before the All-Star break, Zimmer will replace him in the outfield for what will be his first start since July 7 and his fifth overall since the beginning of June. Zimmer will see occasional use as as pinch-runner or late-inning defensive replacement, but his opportunities to enter the lineup will be few and far between while Toronto is at full strength in the outfield.

  • Blue Jays' Bradley Zimmer: Back on bench

Zimmer is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the White Sox. Zimmer will be back on the bench after he started the final two games of the Blue Jays' weekend series with the Angels and went 0-for-4 with a walk. The 29-year-old is slashing a lowly .118/.182/.235 on the season and will likely be limited to a fifth outfielder role while all of George Springer, Teoscar Hernandez, Lourdes Gurriel and Raimel Tapia are healthy and available.

  • Blue Jays' Bradley Zimmer: Returns to bench

Zimmer is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Guardians. Zimmer had started in three of the Blue Jays' past four games, but the recent return of Teoscar Hernandez from the 10-day injured list likely closes the door on any hope Zimmer had of moving into a near-everyday role. Since being acquired from the Guardians in early April, Zimmer has produced a woeful .075/.119/.150 slash line across 42 plate appearances with Toronto.

  • Blue Jays' Bradley Zimmer: Swipes first bag of season

Zimmer went 1-for-3 with a stolen base in Thursday's loss to the Guardians. Facing his former organization, Zimmer hit ninth and got the start in center field while George Springer was getting a breather. The steal was Zimmer's first of the season, and while he's been seeing semi-regular action recently, the 29-year-old has gone just 2-for-20 over his last seven starts. With Teoscar Hernandez (oblique) almost ready to be activated, Zimmer's playing time and potentially even his roster spot are in jeopardy.

  • Blue Jays' Bradley Zimmer: First hit as Jay leaves yard

Zimmer went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Friday's 4-3 win over the Astros. He went back-to-back with Santiago Espinal in the fifth inning off Justin Verlander to erase a 3-1 deficit, as Zimmer's first hit as a Blue Jay just barely reached the Crawford Boxes in left field. The former Cleveland outfielder is picking up starts in center field while George Springer is nursing a forearm bruise after being hit by a pitch, but once Springer is ready to return, Zimmer will find himself back on the bench.

  • Blue Jays' Bradley Zimmer: Picking up first start

Zimmer will start in center field and bat ninth in Thursday's game against the Yankees. The 29-year-old will be picking up his first start as a member of the Blue Jays after joining the team in an April 7 trade with the Guardians. Even with Teoscar Hernandez expected to head to the injured list due to an oblique issue, Zimmer will likely see only a mild uptick in opportunities in the short term. George Springer, Lourdes Gurriel and Raimel Tapia all appear to be ahead of Zimmer in the pecking order for playing time in the outfield.
