Mets' Luke Weaver: Saddled with second blown save
Weaver (2-1) was charged with the loss and a blown save Thursday against the Nationals, allowing two runs on two hits and no walks in the eighth inning. He struck out one.
Entering the game with a 4-3 lead Thursday, the right-hander served up a two-run home run to CJ Abrams for his second blown save of the year. Even though top closer Devin Williams has disastrous 8.00 ERA in 2026, Weaver hasn't been much better at preventing runs as his primary setup man. Through 12 frames, Weaver has a 6.00 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 8:4 K:BB.

Mets' Luke Weaver: Earns win in relief
Weaver (2-0) earned the win in relief Wednesday against the Twins, allowing a hit and a walk while striking out three across 1.1 innings.
Weaver entered the game in the seventh inning with two outs and runners on first and second. He walked Ryan Jeffers to load the bases, but he closed out the inning when Luke Keaschall was retired on a popout in foul territory. Holding a one-run lead in the top of the ninth, Weaver recorded consecutive strikeouts of Matt Wallner and Royce Lewis. Weaver then allowed a single to Brooks Lee, but he would close the game out by striking out Byron Buxton, who had homered earlier in the game. This was Weaver's third straight scoreless appearance, and he seems to be leaving behind a woeful stretch when he allowed six runs on 1.2 innings across two outings between April 9 and April 11.

Mets' Luke Weaver: Notched first hold of year
Weaver tossed a perfect eighth inning Sunday to record his first hold of the season in a 5-2 win over the Giants. He didn't strike out a batter.
The veteran right-hander fired 10 of 12 pitches for strikes before handing the ball off to Devin Williams for the ninth. Weaver produced more than 20 holds each of the last two seasons for the Yankees, and he seems on his way to reaching that mark again for the Mets, posting a 0.00 ERA and giving up just one hit over four appearances and 4.0 innings with a 2:2 K:BB.

Mets' Luke Weaver: Can't find plate Sunday
Weaver gave up a run on three walks in one-third of an inning during Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Marlins.
His one out was a strikeout, but Weaver threw only nine of 23 pitches for strikes in what could end up as his final spring appearance. The veteran right-hander has been having a strong camp prior to Sunday, and through 4.1 innings he sports a 2.08 ERA and 5:4 K:BB. Weaver will be one of the Mets' top setup men this season in front of new closer Devin Williams, and over the last two seasons for the Yankees he delivered a 3.21 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 10.6 K/9 with 11 wins, 12 saves and 44 holds in 126 appearances.

Mets' Luke Weaver: Nabs $22 million deal from Mets
The Mets signed Weaver to a two-year, $22 million contract Wednesday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Weaver becomes the second former Yankees reliever to sign with the Mets this offseason, joining closer Devin Williams. The 32-year-old Weaver struggled at times during the second half in 2025, but he finished his tenure in pinstripes with a 3.22 ERA and 191:49 K:BB across 162 regular-season innings. Weaver will help set up for Williams with the Mets.

Yankees' Luke Weaver: Nails down 13th hold
Weaver earned a hold against the Cardinals on Friday, allowing one hit and striking out two batters over 1.1 scoreless innings.
Weaver entered in a tight situation in the seventh frame, inheriting runners on second and third base with two outs. The right-hander uncorked a wild pitch to allow one run to cross the plate but then struck out Lars Nootbaar to escape further damage. Weaver returned for the eighth and allowed a runner to reach base on a single and his own error, yet he was able to get out of the inning on another punchout. After struggling a bit in July, Weaver has bounced back with a strong August, tossing 7.2 scoreless frames and posting a 10:1 K:BB across seven appearances. He remains one of the team's top setup options even after the trade-deadline acquisitions of Camilo Doval and David Bednar.
