Morris was unlikely to be available for at least the next couple of days after covering 2.1 innings in long relief during a Saturday loss to the Athletics, so the Angels decided to ship him back to the minors in order to make room for some fresh arms out of the bullpen. The Angels recalled Morris from Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
Morris was traded from the Braves to the Angels on Tuesday and didn't have to wait long before being promoted. Friday's starter Parker Bridwell lasted only 1.2 innings, leaving six Angels relievers to cover the remainder of the game. Morris replaces Bridwell on the 25-man roster and should serve in a low -leverage bullpen role for the Halos.

To make room for Morris on the 40-man roster, the Angels designated Troy Scribner for assignment. The right-hander was touched up for five runs in his only big-league appearance last year, which lasted two-thirds of an inning for the Mets. The 24-year-old put together a fine stretch with Double-Mississippi, though, boasting a 2.27 ERA in 25 appearances, with 50 strikeouts in 35.2 innings.
