  • Guardians' Jerad Eickhoff: Signs MiLB pact

Eickhoff signed a minor-league contract with the Guardians on Friday. The right-hander was assigned to Triple-A Columbus. In 114.1 innings with Triple-A Indianapolis while a member of the PIttsburgh organization in 2022, Eickhoff registered a 4.93 ERA. It's likely he will just be organizational fodder despite 464 career innings of big-league experience.

  • Jerad Eickhoff: Moving on from Bucs

Eickhoff elected free agency Oct. 6. Eickhoff spent the entire 2022 campaign in the Pittsburgh organization, but he was up with the big club for just one spot start, when he was lit up for 10 earned runs on 10 hits and one walk in 4.1 innings in a June 22 loss to the Cubs. The 32-year-old performed better over a larger sample of 114.1 innings with Triple-A Indianapolis, pitching to a 4.96 ERA and 1.16 WHIP.

  • Pirates' Jerad Eickhoff: Clears waivers

The Pirates outrighted Eickhoff to Triple-A Indianapolis on Sunday after he cleared waivers. Eickhoff will remain in the organization as a swingman at Indianapolis after he was added to and removed from the Pirates' 40-man roster following one spot start with the big club. In his Pittsburgh debut last Wednesday against the Cubs, Eickhoff was tagged for 10 earned runs on 10 hits and one walk while striking out four over 4.1 innings.

  • Pirates' Jerad Eickhoff: Designated for assignment

Eickhoff was designated for assignment by the Pirates on Friday. Eickhoff's contract was selected ahead of his season debut Wednesday, but he could hardly have done a worse job in his audition to stick around on a more permanent basis. In 4.1 innings against the Cubs, he allowed 10 runs on 10 hits. It's unlikely there will be much of a market for Eickhoff's services on the waiver wire considering that he's a 31-year-old who owns a 7.19 ERA since the start of the 2018 season. Austin Brice was called up to take his place on the roster.

  • Pirates' Jerad Eickhoff: Rocked by Cubs

Eickhoff (0-1) allowed 10 runs on 10 hits and one walk while striking out four across 4.1 innings to take the loss Wednesday against the Cubs. Eickhoff had a disastrous first outing with the Pirates. In the second inning, he allowed the first five batters he faced to reach base, which resulted in seven runs. Prior to being recalled, Eickhoff posted a 4.84 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 47:15 K:BB across 48.1 innings with Triple-A Indianapolis. He should have the chance to stick in the rotation so long as Zach Thompson (forearm) is sidelined, though Eickhoff doesn't have a recent track record of success at the big-league level.

  • Pirates' Jerad Eickhoff: Promoted for Bucs debut

The Pirates selected Eickhoff's contract from Triple-A Indianapolis ahead of his scheduled start Wednesday against the Cubs. Reliever Heath Hembree was designated for assignment to clear room on the 40-man and 26-man active roster for Eickhoff, who turned in a 4.84 ERA and 1.08 WHIP across 48.1 innings in a swingman role for Indianapolis. Eickhoff's most recent big-league experience came last season, when he submitted an 8.69 ERA and 2.03 WHIP across 19.2 innings. Even while Eickhoff opposes a weak Cubs lineup Wednesday, fantasy managers will still want to tread carefully with the 32-year-old right-hander, who profiles as an NL-only or deeper mixed-league option.

  • Pirates' Jerad Eickhoff: Confirmed to start Wednesday

Manager Derek Shelton said Eickhoff will be called up from Triple-A Indianapolis to start Wednesday's game against the Cubs, Rob Biertempfel of The Athletic reports. The Pirates will likely make the transaction official at some point after Tuesday's contest. Eickhoff will be joining the rotation as a replacement for Zach Thompson, who was placed on the 15-day injured list Monday with right forearm nerve inflammation. Over his 13 outings (six starts) with Indianapolis this season, Eickhoff has turned in a 4.84 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 47:15 K:BB across 48.1 innings.

  • Pirates' Jerad Eickhoff: Joining Bucs

The Pirates plan to call up Eickhoff from Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. Eickhoff will join the Pirates after producing a 4.84 ERA and 1.08 WHIP with 47 strikeouts over 48.1 innings while appearing in 13 games (six starts) for Indianapolis. He's expected to handle a hybrid role out of the Pirates' bullpen, but if he isn't needed in long relief during Tuesday's game against the Cubs, he could start Wednesday to fill the vacancy in the Pittsburgh rotation.

  • Pirates' Jerad Eickhoff: Sent out of minor-league camp

The Pirates reassigned Eickhoff to minor-league camp Tuesday. Eickhoff missed out on a spot on the Pirates' Opening Day pitching staff, despite turning in a 2.45 ERA and 0.95 WHIP while striking out nine over 7.1 innings in four Grapefruit League appearances. He appeared exclusively in relief this spring, though he could vie for a spot in the rotation as he likely heads to the Pirates' Triple-A affiliate in Indianapolis.

  • Pirates' Jerad Eickhoff: Joins Pirates

Eickhoff signed a minor-league deal with the Pirates on Monday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports. Eickhoff was a perfectly competent starter in the first three years of his career, posting a 3.87 ERA over 65 starts from 2015 through 2017. He missed most of 2018 with injuries and hasn't pitched at anything close to that level since then, struggling to a 6.48 ERA across 83.1 innings over the last four seasons. If he spends a meaningful portion of the season in the Pirates' rotation it should be considered a pleasant surprise.

  • Mets' Jerad Eickhoff: Outrighted to Triple-A

The Mets outrighted Eickhoff to Triple-A Syracuse on Friday. As anticipated, Eickhoff went unclaimed off waivers after the Mets designated him for assignment for the third time this season. The veteran right-hander has been roughed up over his five outings (four starts) at the big-league level this season, posting an 8.69 ERA and 2.03 WHIP across 19.2 innings.

  • Mets' Jerad Eickhoff: Ambushed by Atlanta

Eickhoff (0-2) took the loss Tuesday as the Mets fell 12-5 to Atlanta, coughing up 10 runs on seven hits -- including three home runs -- and five walks over 3.1 innings. He struck out four. This was an utter disaster for the right-hander, as he got tagged for at least two runs in each of the first four innings. Eickhoff now has an 8.69 ERA through five appearances (four starts) and 19.2 innings while serving up nine homers, and with Carlos Carrasco (hamstring) on track to return this weekend, he may have seen his last action this season for the Mets.

  • Mets' Jerad Eickhoff: Starting for Mets on Tuesday

Eickhoff will be recalled to start Tuesday's game against Atlanta, Justin Toscano of The Bergen Record reports. Eickhoff was DFA'd by New York on July 20, and per Anthony DiComo of MLB.com, he re-signed with the Mets on Tuesday after electing free agency earlier in the week. Eichoff has made four previous appearances (three starts) in the majors this season, posting a 4.96 ERA and 9:5 K:BB across 16.1 innings. He most recently lasted just 3.2 innings in his latest outing against the Reds on July 19, but he could have an outside chance of qualifying for a potential win Tuesday.

  • Mets' Jerad Eickhoff: DFA'd by Mets

The Mets designated Eickhoff for assignment Tuesday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports. Unearned runs were the story of Eickhoff's outing Monday, but he was only able to get through 3.2 innings in the no-decision. His roster spot was required to call up Tuesday's starter, Robert Stock. Eickhoff figures to get another opportunity in the Mets' rotation this season, especially while Jacob deGrom (forearm) is sidelined.

  • Mets' Jerad Eickhoff: Let down by defense

Eickhoff didn't factor into the decision in Monday's wild 15-11 extra-innings win over the Reds, allowing seven runs (two earned) on six hits and a walk over 3.2 innings. He struck out three. All the scoring against him came in the first two innings, and while Eickhoff created a lot of his own problems, three errors behind him -- including two by Luis Guillorme in place of the injured Francisco Lindor (oblique) at shortstop -- did the right-hander no favors. Eickhoff's time in the rotation could be running out with Carlos Carrasco (hamstring) nearing a return, and his 4.96 ERA through 16.1 innings masks a horrific 8.12 FIP.

  • Mets' Jerad Eickhoff: Slated to start Monday

Eickhoff will start Monday's game against the Reds, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports. Eickhoff served as the primary pitcher in his last appearance, but he'll make his third start of the season in Monday's series opener. Across three appearances (two starts) in 2021, the right-hander has posted a 4.97 ERA and 1.66 WHIP in 12.2 innings.

  • Mets' Jerad Eickhoff: Gives up pair of homers

Eickhoff allowed two runs on six hits in 2.2 innings versus Pittsburgh on Sunday. He struck out none and did not factor in the decision. Eickhoff served as the primary pitcher behind opener Aaron Loup in Sunday's contest. There was little trouble for Eickhoff in his first two innings, but Rodolfo Castro and Michael Perez each took him deep for solo home runs in the fifth inning. The 31-year-old right-hander has allowed seven runs in 12.2 innings this season, with two of his three major-league appearances coming as a starter.

Eickhoff returned to the Mets on a minor-league deal on July 5, but he'll be recalled and is expected to work a few innings in Sunday's game against the Pirates. He made two starts for the big-league club earlier in the season, posting a 4.50 ERA and 1.50 WHIP with a 6:4 K:BB across 10 frames.

  • Mets' Jerad Eickhoff: Returns to Mets

Eickhoff signed a minor-league contract with the Mets on Monday, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports. Eickhoff elected free agency after he cleared waivers Saturday, but he'll ultimately return to the Mets on a minor-league deal. The right-hander should report to Triple-A Syracuse after he made eight starts with the minor-league club earlier in the season.

  • Jerad Eickhoff: Elects free agency

Eickhoff cleared waivers and elected free agency Saturday. Eickhoff was designated for assignment by the Mets on Tuesday, and he'll become a free agent rather than accepting an outright assignment to Triple-A Syracuse. The right-hander made two starts for the Mets this year and allowed five runs on 11 hits and four walks while striking out six in 10 innings.
