Tigers' Gleyber Torres: Cleared for all baseball activities
Torres (groin) has been cleared to participate in all baseball activities, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Torres underwent sports hernia surgery in October, an injury that he played through over the final month of the regular season and into the playoffs. He is now fully recovered from the operation and can proceed with his normal offseason training. Torres will return as the Tigers' everyday second baseman in 2026 after accepting the team's one-year, $22.025 million qualifying offer.

Tigers' Gleyber Torres: Back with Tigers after taking QO
Torres (groin) accepted the Tigers' one-year, $22.025 million qualifying offer Tuesday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
Torres decided against testing out the free-agent market, instead choosing to take a sizable raise after he made $15 million in 2025. The 29-year-old slashed .256/.358/.387 with 16 home runs, 79 runs and 74 RBI during the 2025 regular season, though he struggled in the second half while playing through a sports hernia. Torres had hernia surgery in October and is expected to be ready in time for spring training.

Gleyber Torres: Tigers extend qualifying offer
The Tigers tendered a one-year, $22.05 million qualifying offer to Torres (groin) on Thursday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
Torres underwent surgery in late October to repair a sports hernia on his left side, but he should be fully healthy well before spring training. The infielder turns 29 in December, and he could decline the qualifying offer in search of a multi-year deal. Torres slashed .256/.358/.387 with 16 home runs, 79 runs and 74 RBI during the 2025 regular season.

Tigers' Gleyber Torres: Undergoes sports hernia surgery
Torres underwent surgery Friday to repair a sports hernia on his left side, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Torres played through the injury for the final month of the regular season and playoffs, and the operation was anticipated. The expectation is that Torres will be cleared for baseball activities in four weeks, which would give him plenty of time to gear up for spring training. Torres is an impending free agent after slashing .256/.358/.387 with 16 home runs and an 85:101 BB:K over 145 regular-season contests for the Tigers.

Tigers' Gleyber Torres: Slated for sports hernia surgery
Torres said after Friday's loss to Seattle that he plans to undergo sports hernia surgery in the offseason, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
Torres added that he has been playing through the injury for multiple months, which helps to explain why he slashed .223/.320/.339 during the second half of the season after entering the All-Star break with an .812 OPS. His procedure isn't expected to affect his availability for the start of the 2026 campaign, so it also shouldn't interfere with the interest he receives in free agency this winter.

Tigers' Gleyber Torres: Resting for regular-season finale
Torres is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox.
With the Tigers clinching a playoff spot Saturday, manager A.J. Hinch will rest several key regulars in the regular-season finale in advance of the wild-card round. Along with Torres, Dillon Dingler, Spencer Torkelson, and Riley Greene will all sit out Sunday.

Tigers' Gleyber Torres: Reaches three times in loss
Torres went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, an RBI and a run scored in Sunday's 6-2 loss to Atlanta.
Torres extended his hitting streak to four games, with the last three contests being multi-hit efforts. The Detroit infielder is now slashing .261/.366/.398 across 140 games this year, and he's been a key offensive performer in his first season with his new team. Torres should continue to slot in as the No. 2 hitter for the Tigers as they look to wrap up a playoff spot.
