Harrison has ended his baseball career and will play college football in the fall, as he joined Arkansas' program as a walk-on in May, Kyle Bonagura of ESPN.com reports.
A standout high school receiver in Lee's Summit, Mo. from the Class of 2014, Harrison turned down a scholarship offer at Nebraska to sign with the Brewers, who drafted him in the second round of the 2014 First-Year Player Draft. Harrison was eventually traded to the Marlins in the January 2018 deal that sent Christian Yelich to Milwaukee, and the 29-year-old reached the majors for the first time in 2020 with Miami. He appeared in 50 games at the big-league level with the Marlins and Angels from 2020 through 2022, slashing just .176/.253/.294 over 76 plate appearances. Harrison rejoined the Milwaukee organization on a minor-league deal following the 2022 season, but he hit just .208 at Triple-A Nashville in 2023 before being released last September.

Brewers' Monte Harrison: Links on with Milwaukee
Rotowire
Harrison agreed Monday with the Brewers on a minor-league contract and received an invitation to MLB spring training, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
It's a return to the Brewers' organization for Harrison, as he was drafted by Milwaukee in the second round of the 2014 MLB Draft. The 27-year-old had a brief run in the majors last year with the Angels and had short big-league stints with the Marlins in 2020 and 2021, compiling a .176/.253/.294 slash line with a 48.7 percent strikeout rate in 76 MLB plate appearances. Harrison will likely be organizational depth for the Brew Crew, and the bulk of his playing time should come with Triple-A Nashville.

Angels' Monte Harrison: Clears waivers, sent to Salt Lake
Rotowire
Harrison cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Salt Lake on Monday.
After he was designated for assignment Wednesday, Harrison went unclaimed on waivers and will now report to Salt Lake. The outfielder has produced a .213 average with six home runs, 24 RBI, 29 runs and 20 stolen bases over 174 at-bats in 50 games with Triple-A this season. Harrison will remain a candidate for a call-up as the season goes on, but based on his .182 average in the majors this season, he carries little fantasy appeal.

Angels' Monte Harrison: Blasts first homer of 2022
Rotowire
Harrison went 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and a strikeout during Sunday's 9-5 loss to the Orioles.
Harrison didn't appear in any of the Angels' last three games, but he was productive while batting ninth during Sunday's series finale against Baltimore. Since joining the major-league club, the 26-year-old has gone 2-for-10 with a homer, five runs, three RBI and a stolen base. He isn't a very appealing fantasy option since he's started in just four games since being called up by the Angels on June 24.

Angels' Monte Harrison: Joins Halos on MiLB deal
Rotowire
Harrison signed a minor-league contract with the Angels on Monday.
The 26-year-old was released by the Marlins in late March, but it didn't take long for him to latch on with a new team. Once a highly-regarded prospect, Harrison has mostly struggled in the upper minors and has only 41 big-league games under his belt. He hit .238/.328/.442 with 15 home runs, 52 RBI and 24 stolen bases in 74 games at the Triple-A level last season, and he'll remain at that level with the Angels to open 2022.

Marlins' Monte Harrison: Packs bags for minors
Rotowire
The Marlins optioned Harrison to Triple-A Jacksonville on Monday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
In addition to Harrison, the Marlins also optioned another one of their top position prospects in first baseman Lewin Diaz to Jacksonville, where both he and Harrison will be able to play on an everyday basis. With Corey Dickerson, Starling Marte and Adam Duvall all seemingly locked in as at least large-side platoon players in the outfield, Harrison likely wouldn't have been in line to play more than two or three times per week had he made the Marlins' Opening Day roster.

Marlins' Monte Harrison: Dons Golden Sombrero
Rotowire
Harrison went 0-for-5 with four strikeouts in Wednesday's 29-9 loss to the Braves.
In a game where quality pitching was difficult to come by for either side, Harrison somehow looked helpless at the plate, as he swung and missed eight times during the night. Harrison has now struck out four times twice already this season and at least three times on five occasions, leaving him with a bloated 56.4 K%. After Harrison, Steven Souza has the next-highest strikeout rate (48.4 percent) among all MLB players with at least 30 plate appearances this season.

Marlins' Monte Harrison: Returns to alternate site
Rotowire
Harrison was optioned to the alternate training site Friday.
The 25-year-old was recalled in early August for his big-league debut with the Marlins in dire need of players following the team's COVID-19 outbreak, but he'll return to the alternate site with many of the impacted position players now active. Harrison struggled in his first taste of the majors, going 4-for-30 with one homer, one stolen base and 18 strikeouts in 13 games.

Marlins' Monte Harrison: Saved from facing deGrom
Rotowire
Harrison is not in Wednesday's lineup against the Mets, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Harrison would have likely been overmatched against Mets starter Jacob deGrom, so the Marlins will give him a strategic day off. Strikeouts have predictably been a big problem for Harrison thus far (55.9 percent strikeout rate) in his rookie season.

Marlins' Monte Harrison: Launches first big-league homer
Rotowire
Harrison went 1-for-2 with a walk and a solo home run in Saturday's 2-1 loss to Atlanta.
With the Marlins down a run, the rookie led off the eighth inning by crushing a Will Smith fastball the other way and over the fence in right-center field for his first career homer. Harrison is still only hitting .150 (3-for-20) in nine games since his promotion, but Saturday's performance should give him a confidence boost.

Marlins' Monte Harrison: Rough intro to majors
Rotowire
Harrison went 0-for-3 with three strikeouts in his big-league debut Tuesday.
Getting the start in center field and hitting ninth, Harrison had trouble making any kind of contact. The 24-year-old has posted some big strikeout numbers in the minors, including a brutal 36.9 percent K-rate at Double-A in 2018, so Tuesday's performance can't be considered much of a surprise. If Harrison does begin to figure things out, however, he has the tools to make a fantasy impact.
