Player Outlook
Victor Robles completely turned his career around after joining the Mariners in June, slashing .328/.393/.467 with 30 steals in 77 games with Seattle after Washington finally threw in the towel on the former top prospect. He enjoyed some initial major-league success in 2019, but Robles struggled with the Nationals in the years that followed and ultimately fell out of favor with the organization. Conversely, he impressed the M's brass so much in his first two months with the club that he landed a two-year, $9.75 million extension in August. He went from on the fringes of the major leagues to leading off regularly over the final two months. Robles improved his contact rate down the stretch and the results followed, but it's tough to trust given his track record. Further, his power is limited and the home park works against him.

  • Mariners' Victor Robles: In lineup for spring finale

Robles (hand) will start in right field and bat leadoff in Monday's Cactus League game against the Padres. Robles was pulled from Saturday's game against the White Sox after being struck on the right hand by a pitch, but he avoided any broken bones. After checking out fine while taking live batting practice Sunday, the swelling and soreness in Robles' hand has apparently subsided enough to the point that the 27-year-old has been cleared to play in the Mariners' spring finale. Assuming he comes out of Monday's contest no worse for the wear, Robles should be ready to handle leadoff duties for Seattle in Thursday's season opener versus the Athletics.

  • Mariners' Victor Robles: X-rays return negative

Robles had X-rays on his right hand come back negative, and he will hit in a batting cage Sunday, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports. The 27-year-old was hit by a pitch during Saturday's spring game but appears to have avoided a significant injury. Assuming Robles doesn't experience any additional complications, it appears he'll be ready to go for the season opener Thursday versus the A's.

  • Mariners' Victor Robles: Manager optimistic after HBP

Mariners manager Dan Wilson "sounded optimistic" that Robles would be OK after the outfielder was hit by a pitch on his right hand and forced to exit Saturday's Cactus League game against the White Sox, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports. However, Robles will still need to undergo an X-ray and possibly other tests. Robles appeared to be in considerable pain after taking a slider to the wrist in his fourth plate appearance Saturday. This initial word is positive, but Robles is not out of the woods yet. He is looking to build on his excellent run with Seattle last season, during which he slashed .328/.393/.467 with four homers and 30 steals in just 77 games.

Robles left Saturday's Cactus League game against the White Sox after being hit by a pitch on his right hand, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports. Robles singled in both of his first two trips but was then plunked in his fourth plate appearance, and he appeared to be in considerable pain. The Mariners figure to send him for tests right away to determine the extent of the injury.

  • Mariners' Victor Robles: Heating up in March

Robles went 1-for-11 in four Cactus League games in February, but he's hitting .250 with one home run, two doubles and one stolen base over 24 at-bats since the start of March. Robles is slated to serve as a table setter in Seattle's lineup in 2025, as he perhaps stands out as the most likely candidate to work as the leadoff hitter to begin the campaign. After the former top prospect was discarded by the Nationals in 2024, Robles went on to slash an impressive .328/.393/.467 with four homers, 20 doubles, 30 stolen bases and 41 runs scored across 262 plate appearances with the Mariners. Even if Robles experiences some regression as a hitter this year, the veteran outfielder's glove and speed should keep him in the lineup regularly.

  • Mariners' Victor Robles: Resting Friday

Robles is absent from Friday's lineup against Oakland, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports. Robles will rest for the first game of the series after going 3-for-13 with two RBI and five runs scored during the Mariners' previous series against the Astros. • Mariners' Victor Robles: On base three times in win

Robles went 2-for-4 with a double, a walk and two runs in a win over the Astros on Monday. In what's become a near-daily occurrence, Robles served as a highly effective table-setting presence atop the order, posting his ninth multi-hit effort of September. The veteran early-summer addition has been nothing short of spectacular for the Mariners, posting a .336/.403/.474 slash line over his 75 games in a Seattle uniform and serving as a quintessential leadoff man with his plate discipline (16.9 percent strikeout rate) and speed (28-for-29 in stolen bases).

He was hampered by a hand injury earlier in the week, but he's gone 3-for-9 with three RBI over his last games in which he's logged an at-bat. The speedy outfielder is up to 32 steals on 34 attempts this year while adding four home runs, 25 RBI, 38 runs scored and a .310/.385/.431 slash line over 86 games between the Mariners and the Nationals.

  • Mariners' Victor Robles: Productive as pinch runner

Robles entered Saturday's win over the Rangers as a pinch runner in the ninth inning and recorded a stolen base and a run. The oft-injured Robles had the night off for rest, but he was called on to run for Jorge Polanco in the ninth inning after the latter's double. Robles was credited with a steal of third and was able to continue around to home when the Rangers' Walter Pennington uncorked a wild pitch during the sequence. The blistering hot bat of Robles could be back in the lineup Sunday.

  • Mariners' Victor Robles: Hits safely in return to lineup

Robles went 2-for-4 with an RBI sacrifice fly, a stolen base and two runs in a win over the Rangers on Friday. Robles was back in the lineup after his latest multi-game absence, this one prompted by a hand bruise stemming from a hit-by-pitch. As usual, Robles had no trouble jumping right back into a groove at the plate, and he now boasts a .337/.404/.475 slash line since his arrival in Seattle. He's hitting a jaw-dropping .467 across the 59 plate appearances he's logged in September.

  • Mariners' Victor Robles: Remains out Wednesday

Robles (hand) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Yankees. Robles made an early exit from Tuesday's game due to a bruised right hand, and though X-rays revealed no structural damage, lingering soreness will prevent him from starting Wednesday. While Robles sits, Randy Arozarena, Julio Rodriguez and Mitch Haniger will make up Seattle's outfield trio.

  • Mariners' Victor Robles: Managing bruised hand

Robles was removed from Tuesday's game against the Yankees with a right hand contusion. Robles was hit by a pitch during his lone plate appearance in the first inning and was caught trying to steal home plate before being lifted for a pinch hitter in the third frame. Initial X-rays on his hand came back negative, so an extended absence likely won't be necessary.
