  • Seunghwan Oh: Continuing career in Korea

Oh (elbow) agreed to a one-year contract Wednesday with the Samsung Lions of the Korea Baseball Organization on a deal worth approximately $490,000, Jeeho Yoo of the Yonhap News Agency reports.

On the heels of a four-season stint in MLB, Oh will return overseas after the Rockies released him July 28. He'll miss the remainder of the KBO season while recovering from elbow surgery, but Oh is expected to re-sign with the Lions over the winter and return to action at some point in May. While he's on the mend, Oh will be able to serve a 72-game suspension he received for a prior gambling-related conviction in Korea. Oh turned 37 years old in July and seems unlikely to resurface in North America at this stage of his career.

  • Seunghwan Oh: Let go by Rockies

Oh (elbow) was officially released by Colorado on Sunday, Kyle Newman of The Denver Post reports.

Oh was designated for assignment Tuesday and is out for the season due to right elbow surgery, so it's not a major surprise to see him released as he heads into free agency. The 37-year-old was acquired by the Rockies at the 2018 trade deadline and struggled this season with a 6.72 ERA and 1.91 WHIP across 18.1 innings.

  • Rockies' Seunghwan Oh: DFA'd by Colorado

Oh (elbow) was designated for assignment Tuesday by the Rockies.

Oh is already headed for season-ending surgery, so the Rockies will clear a spot on the 40-man roster by sending him to waivers. Yonder Alonso is set to have his contract selected in a corresponding move. The 37-year-old right-hander posted a 9.33 ERA and 1.91 WHIP with 16 punchouts over 18.1 frames in 2019.

  • Rockies' Seunghwan Oh: Set for season-ending elbow surgery

Oh (abdomen) will undergo surgery on his right elbow to remove loose particles and will miss the remainder of the 2019 season, Kyle Newman of The Denver Post reports.

Oh has been on the injured list since June 10 with a left abdominal strain but will now be sidelined for several months due to the elbow surgery. The 37-year-old will finish the season with a 9.33 ERA and 1.91 WHIP in 21 appearances, and he'll enter the 2020 season with some uncertainty due to his age, the injuries and the fact he'll be a free agent.

  • Rockies' Seunghwan Oh: Scheduled for live BP

Oh (abdomen) is scheduled to throw live batting practice Friday at Coors Field, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

Oh threw a bullpen session earlier in the week with no issues, clearing the way for him to face hitters for the first time since landing on the shelf earlier in June. The Rockies will wait until after Friday's live BP session before determining the next step in his recovery, but Oh appears to be closing in on a rehab assignment.

  • Rockies' Seunghwan Oh: Throws bullpen session

Oh (abdomen) threw a bullpen session Tuesday, Kyle Newman of The Denver Post reports.

Oh hasn't pitched since May 30, but he seems to be trending in the right direction, as he tossed this high-intensity, 36-pitch session and didn't come through with any setbacks. Per Newman, Oh said the next step in his rehab will be a simulated game back at Coors Field. The 36-year-old right-hander had been struggling this season, with 19 earned runs in 18.1 innings before he hit the injured list.

  • Rockies' Seunghwan Oh: Sent to IL

Oh was placed on the 10-day injured list Monday with a left abdominal strain, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

This helps explain why Oh hasn't pitched since May 30. The severity of the injury is not yet clear, leaving the veteran reliever without a timetable for his return. Look for Scott Oberg, Carlos Estevez and Jake McGee to handle the majority of setup duties while Oh is on the shelf. Phillip Diehl was summoned from the minors in a corresponding move.

  • Rockies' Seung Hwan Oh: Ready for game action

Oh (neck) is listed among the Rockies' available bullpen arms for Thursday's Cactus League game against the Cubs, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

it's unclear if the Rockies will turn to Oh once starter Antonio Senzatela departs from the contest, but the reliever's inclusion on the lineup card implies that he's moved past the stiff back that had been bothering him for nearly a week. The brevity of Oh's absence means he should be ready to open the season as one of the top setup men for closer Wade Davis.

  • Rockies' Seung Hwan Oh: Throws bullpen session

Oh (neck) threw a bullpen session Tuesday, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

Oh has been battling a stiff neck for the past few days, but the issue doesn't seem likely to keep him out for long. He should still have plenty of time to get up to speed by Opening Day, barring setbacks.

  • Rockies' Seung Hwan Oh: Battling neck stiffness

Oh is considered day-to-day as he is dealing with neck stiffness, Kyle Newman of The Denver Post reports.

The neck issue could help explain Oh's outing Saturday, as he gave up a pair of two-run homers and four total hits over two-thirds of an inning. The veteran right-hander apparently slept wrong and will likely take a couple days off to recover.

  • Rockies' Seung Hwan Oh: Expected to remain in MLB next season

Oh is expected to remain with the Rockies next season, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.

Oh had made comments last week about returning to South Korea, but new reports suggest that he's likely to remain in the majors for at least one more season. It should be noted, however, that the updated reports come from the Rockies themselves and not from Oh's camp, so it's possible that this story isn't over yet.

  • Rockies' Seung Hwan Oh: Could return to South Korea in 2019

Oh is considering a return to South Korea to play in the Korea Baseball Organization in 2019. "I feel like I want to return to the KBO while I still have the energy to help the team and pitch in front of home fans," the 36-year-old Oh said. "I can't make this decision alone. I'll have to speak with my agency about the next season." Oh cited fatigue from living in a foreign country as the main reason for this potential transition, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

The Rockies traded for Oh in late July to help revamp their bullpen, and he wound up logging a 2.53 ERA and 1.03 WHIP with 24 strikeouts in 21.1 innings of relief. Since he went over 70 total appearances in 2018, Oh has a vesting club option of $2.5 million for next year.

  • Rockies' Seung Hwan Oh: Sharp in return to action

Oh (hamstring) retired the only two batters he faced in Wednesday's loss to the Dodgers.

Oh wound up missing a little less than two weeks with a hamstring injury. The veteran reliever needed just nine pitches -- seven of which went for strikes -- to retire Justin Turner and Manny Machado, suggesting he should be good to go for the final week-plus of the season. Oh owns a 2.76 ERA and 1.04 WHIP with 74 strikeouts across 65.1 innings on the year.

  • Rockies' Seung Hwan Oh: Close to returning

Oh (hamstring) is hoping to return Monday against the Dodgers, Nick Groke of The Athletic reports.

Oh hasn't pitched since Sept. 9 due to a hamstring injury, but the veteran right-hander is on the cusp of resurfacing in game action. The reliever owns an impressive 2.78 ERA 1.05 WHIP and 74:17 K:BB through 64.2 innings this season. He should immediately slot back into a key setup role.

  • Rockies' Seung Hwan Oh: Hampered by hamstring issue

Oh has been held out since Sunday because of left hamstring tightness, Kyle Newman of The Denver Post reports.

Oh last pitched Sunday against the Dodgers when he allowed a hit and struck out one, but he's been unable to pitch since due to a hamstring injury. "He truly is day-to-day, and hopefully the Final Boss will be able to get back on track here in the next few days," manager Bud Black said. The Rockies are set to begin a three-game series with the Giants starting Friday.
