  • Braves' Chadwick Tromp: Heads back to Triple-A

Atlanta optioned Tromp to Triple-A Gwinnett on Thursday. Tromp was up with Atlanta for the club's last three games while Travis d'Arnaud (personal) was away from the team on paternity leave, but Tromp will head back to the minors now that d'Arnaud has been reinstated to the 28-man active roster. Atlanta didn't use Tromp during his abbreviated stay with the big club, as Sean Murphy started all three games at catcher.

  • Braves' Chadwick Tromp: Back in big leagues

Atlanta recalled Tromp from Triple-A Gwinnett on Monday. He will be the club's backup catcher behind Sean Murphy after Travis d'Arnaud was placed on the paternity list Monday. Tromp has slashed .250/.259/.365 in 19 games at the major-league level in 2024.

  • Braves' Chadwick Tromp: Sent back to Triple-A

Atlanta optioned Tromp to Triple-A Gwinnett following Sunday's 3-1 win over the Athletics. Tromp has seen limited usage as the No. 2 catcher behind Travis d'Arnaud for much of the season. He recently dropped to third on the depth chart behind Sean Murphy and d'Arnaud and hadn't played at all since Murphy was reinstated from the injured list Monday. The 29-year-old will now head back to Gwinnett to get regular playing time, with Atlanta set to announce a replacement for him on the 26-man active roster prior to Tuesday's series opener in Boston.

  • Braves' Chadwick Tromp: Two hits in Thursday's win

Tromp went 2-for-4 with a run scored in Thursday's win over the Cubs. The 29-year-old backstop has seen his playing time pick up lately due in part to a concussion scare for Travis d'Arnaud, and Tromp has responded by going 6-for-13 with three doubles and two runs scored while appearing in four of the last seven games. His time in the majors figures to be coming to a close, however -- Sean Murphy (oblique) has homered in back-to-back games to begin his rehab assignment with Triple-A Gwinnett and could come off the IL as soon as this weekend.

  • Braves' Chadwick Tromp: Up from Triple-A

Atlanta selected Tromp's contract from Triple-A Gwinnett on Saturday, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Tromp will serve as the backup to Travis d'Arnaud while Sean Murphy (oblique) is on the injured list. Tromp went just 2-for-16 with an RBI across six major-league games last season and doesn't figure to see much playing time off the bench.

  • Braves' Chadwick Tromp: Moves to minor-league camp

Atlanta reassigned Tromp to minor-league camp Monday. Tromp looks to be third on Atlanta's organizational catching depth chart, but with both Sean Murphy and Travis d'Arnaud at full health heading into Opening Day, there wasn't a spot available for Tromp with the big club. He'll likely need Murphy or d'Arnaud to miss time at some point this season before he's summoned from the minors.

  • Braves' Chadwick Tromp: Back with Atlanta

Atlanta re-signed Tromp to a minor-league contract Wednesday. Tromp was non-tendered by Atlanta last week but will return to the organization. The 28-year-old catcher has put up a .640 OPS with five home runs over 102 plate appearances at the major-league level. He'll likely begin 2024 at Triple-A Gwinnett.

  • Braves' Chadwick Tromp: Optioned to Triple-A

Tromp was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett on Friday. He was up as a third catcher while Sean Murphy dealt with a hamstring injury, but now that the team's starting backstop appears to be in the clear, Tromp is no longer needed. He's gone 2-for-16 at the plate during his time in the majors in 2023.

  • Braves' Chadwick Tromp: Sent to Triple-A

Atlanta optioned Tromp to Triple-A Gwinnett on Monday. Tromp will head back to Triple-A after Travis d'Arnaud (concussion) was reinstated from his rehab assignment Monday. Tromp operated as Atlanta's backup catcher for about a month, going 1-for-16 with a double, an RBI and a run scored with seven strikeouts in limited action at the plate.

  • Braves' Chadwick Tromp: Recalled from Triple-A

Atlanta recalled Tromp from Triple-A Gwinnett on Sunday. Tromp replaces Travis d'Arnaud on the roster after d'Arnaud was placed on the 7-day injured list with a concussion. Tromp will operate as Sean Murphy's backup while he's with Atlanta.

  • Braves' Chadwick Tromp: Sent to Triple-A

Atlanta optioned Tromp to Triple-A Gwinnett on Wednesday. Tromp was always viewed as unlikely to make the Opening Day club with Sean Murphy and Travis d'Arnaud making up the backstop tandem for Atlanta in 2023. He'll provides organizational depth at Triple-A but could be first in line for a call-up if Atlanta is without Murphy or d'Arnaud for any period of time.

  • Braves' Chadwick Tromp: Healthy for spring training

Tromp (quadriceps) appeared in a two-inning simulated game Wednesday, Grant McAuley of 92-9 The Game Atlanta reports. Tromp missed the final month of the 2022 season after he aggravated a left quadriceps strain during a rehab assignment with Triple-A Gwinnett, but he reported to camp last week at full health. Though he's one of only three catchers on Atlanta's 40-man roster, Tromp is likely to head back to Gwinnett to begin the season so long as both Sean Murphy and Travis d'Arnaud are both available.

  • Braves' Chadwick Tromp: Aggravates quad injury

Tromp had his rehab assignment shut down after he aggravated his left quadriceps injury at Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday. Tromp joined the Triple-A club for a rehab assignment Sunday and went 0-for-6 with a run, a walk and two strikeouts over two games. However, it's not yet clear when he'll be cleared to return from the injured list following Tuesday's setback.

  • Braves' Chadwick Tromp: Starts up rehab assignment

Tromp (quadriceps) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Gwinnett on Sunday. Tromp has been on the injured list since Aug. 16 with a left quad strain, but he'll likely need only a few games in the minors to get back up to full speed. With Travis d'Arnaud and William Contreras entrenched as Atlanta's top two backstops, the team doesn't have an immediate need to rush Tromp back, though he could be a candidate to join the club as a No. 3 catcher when the roster expands to 28 men in September.

  • Braves' Chadwick Tromp: Shelved with quad strain

Atlanta placed Tromp on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a strained left quadricep. After getting called up from Triple-A Gwinnett on Aug. 7, Tromp went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI in his lone game for Atlanta on Saturday against the Marlins. He apparently picked up the injury in that game and will now miss at least the next week and a half, but he likely wouldn't have stuck around with the big club much longer even if he hadn't gotten hurt. Travis d'Arnaud (lower leg) returned from a short-term injury in Monday's win over the Mets, giving Atlanta two healthy catchers again.

  • Braves' Chadwick Tromp: Contract selected by Atlanta

Tromp had his contract selected by Atlanta on Sunday. The 27-year-old was designated for assignment in mid-April but will rejoin the big-league roster with Travis d'Arnaud (lower leg) managing an injury. Tromp has yet to appear in a MLB game this year and has a .259/.301/.453 slash line with 12 home runs and 41 RBI in 68 games for Triple-A Gwinnett.

  • Braves' Chadwick Tromp: Outrighted to Triple-A

Tromp was outrighted to Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday. Tromp was designated for assignment last Tuesday and unsurprisingly passed through waivers unclaimed. He'll remain in an organizational depth role for now.

  • Braves' Chadwick Tromp: Designated for assignment

Tromp was designated for assignment by Atlanta on Tuesday. Tromp owns a 64 wRC+ in 33 career major-league games and is behind three other catchers on Atlanta's organizational depth chart. It's no surprise that he'll be the one to make way on the 40-man roster for Bryce Elder, whose contract was selected ahead of his MLB debut.

  • Braves' Chadwick Tromp: Optioned to Triple-A

Tromp was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett on Wednesday. Tromp inked a minor-league deal with Atlanta in mid-March and will unsurprisingly begin the season at the Triple-A level. He appeared in nine big-league games last year for San Francisco and could receive a promotion in 2022 if Atlanta deals with any injuries behind the plate.

  • Braves' Chadwick Tromp: Remains in Atlanta on minors deal

Tromp returned to Atlanta on a minor-league contract Saturday, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports. Tromp was claimed off waivers from the Giants in late September last year but didn't get into a major-league game for his new organization. His .215/.220/.418 slash line in 33 career major-league games suggests he fits best as organizational depth.
