Padres' Wandy Peralta: Staying in San Diego
Peralta exercised his $4.25 million player option for 2025 on Saturday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Peralta turned in a 3.99 ERA and 1.20 WHIP across 38.1 frames in 2024, and he'll now receive a $900,000 raise by accepting the first of three player options in his deal with the Padres. He will presumably continue to be used in mid-to-high-leverage situations.

Padres' Wandy Peralta: Faces hitters Tuesday
Peralta (thigh) threw a live batting practice session Tuesday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Peralta was cleared for mound work earlier this week, and he has now quickly progressed to facing live hitters. He remains without a firm timeline for a return from the 15-day injured list, but as a reliever, Peralta shouldn't require an extensive buildup period. The 33-year-old had put up a 4.50 ERA and 1.29 WHIP through 34 innings prior to landing on the IL in July with a left hip strain.

Padres' Wandy Peralta: Removed with groin injury
Peralta was removed from Tuesday's game against the Mariners due to an apparent groin injury, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.
Peralta winced and grabbed at his groin immediately after making a pitch in the ninth inning of Tuesday's contest, resulting in him exiting alongside a trainer. He'll presumably undergo imaging in the Padres' clubhouse to determine the nature/severity of his injury, and the team should provide an update shortly after the game.

Padres' Wandy Peralta: Falters in extra-inning loss
Peralta (2-2) didn't retire a batter and took the loss against Arizona on Saturday. He entered in the 10th frame and allowed three runs (two earned) on two hits and one walk.
Peralta took the ball in the top of the 10th and quickly loaded the bases, giving up a bunt single and a walk to the first two batters he faced. Christian Walker followed with a two-run single, which resulted in Peralta getting the hook. Another run scored following the left-hander's departure, and San Diego couldn't come back in the bottom of the frame. After posting a sub-3.00 ERA in each of his previous two seasons while with the Yankees, Peralta is at a 4.32 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 20:12 K:BB over 33.1 innings this year. He's given up at least one run in six of his past 12 outings.

Peralta was touched up for four runs over one-third of an inning against Colorado on April 28 but still has a solid 2.66 ERA ERA this season. Padres' Wandy Peralta: Arrives at camp
Peralta (personal) made his Cactus League debut in Friday's 5-3 loss to the Angels, pitching an inning out of the bullpen while giving up an earned run on two hits and one walk.
Peralta was charged with a blown save in his spring debut, but the Padres are still counting on the 32-year-old lefty to be a key part of their late-inning ranks in 2024. He was a late arrival to spring training while he dealt with visa issues, but Peralta should have plenty of time to get fully ramped up before Opening Day.

Padres' Wandy Peralta: Delayed by visa issue
Peralta is not currently in Padres camp due to an issue with his visa, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.
Peralta signed a four-year deal with San Diego on Jan. 31, and he's expected to be a key high-leverage reliever for the club this season. Though the native of the Dominican Republic hasn't yet been able to join his teammates in camp, the issue isn't likely to impact his readiness for the start of the regular season.

Padres' Wandy Peralta: Gets four-year deal with opt-outs
Peralta signed a four-year, $16.5 million contract with the Padres on Wednesday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
The unusual contract contains three opt-out clauses. Peralta really struggled with his control in 2023 in walking 30 batters over 54 innings, but he still managed to post a sub-3.00 ERA for the second year in a row. The 32-year-old has a career strikeout rate of just 19.6 percent, but he also boasts a 52.9 percent groundball rate and can handle lefties and righties. He will handle high-leverage innings for San Diego.

Peralta will be a free agent this offseason.

Yankees' Wandy Peralta: Dealing with triceps issues
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Wednesday that Peralta is dealing with some "tricep stuff," Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.
Boone didn't go into much detail regarding Peralta's injury, but it could help explain why the 32-year-old lefty hasn't pitched in nearly a week. A firm return timeline won't be established until more information is provided, but fantasy managers should consider Peralta day-to-day going forward.
