Brewers' Dustin May: X-rays negative
X-rays on May's shoulder/back came back negative following his removal from Wednesday's game against the Mets, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
May took a 106-mph line drive off the back of his shoulder and had to leave his start after throwing just one pitch. He seems to have escaped the incident with nothing more than a bruise, however, and because his outing Wednesday was so brief, he could be back on the mound for Milwaukee within a few days after his soreness fades.

Brewers' Dustin May: Hit by comebacker, leaves game
May was removed from Wednesday's game against the Mets after getting hit on the back by a comebacker, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
May's first pitch of the game came right back at him at 106 mph, striking him in the back. He managed to throw a few warm-up pitches afterward, but the Brewers' training staff ultimately made the call to take the 28-year-old out of the game. Because he threw just one pitch Wednesday, he could return to the mound to make his next start within the next few days, but the Brewers will first need to confirm he didn't suffer a severe injury.

Brewers' Dustin May: Chased early in loss
May (6-8) took the loss against the Mariners on Wednesday, allowing seven runs on seven hits and two walks with one strikeout over two innings.
May allowed an average exit velocity of just 76.9 mph, but he lacked command and generated only two whiffs while needing 66 pitches to complete just two innings. It ended a hot stretch for the 28-year-old, who entered the game having allowed four earned runs over his previous four outings, including quality starts in each of his first two appearances with his new club. He owns a 4.57 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 118:42 K:BB across 124 innings with the Brewers and Cardinals this season and will aim to rebound in a road matchup with the Mets next week.

Brewers' Dustin May: Impresses again Wednesday
May didn't factor into the decision Wednesday against the Padres, allowing one run on four hits and two walks over seven innings. He struck out six.
A Xander Bogaerts solo homer in the third inning accounted for San Diego's lone run against May, who's now turned in back-to-back quality starts since joining the Brewers -- he's given up three runs on seven hits across 13 innings in that span. Over 23 starts (122 innings) between Milwaukee and St. Louis this year, May sports a 4.13 ERA with a 1.25 WHIP and 117:40 K:BB. He's currently in line to face the Mariners at home his next time out.

May (6-7) earned the win Thursday against the Pirates, allowing two runs on three hits and three walks while striking out five over six innings during his Brewers debut.
Making his first appearance in a Brewers uniform, May turned in a quality start despite battling some command issues. He threw 97 pitches, issuing three walks and hitting another batter, but limited Pittsburgh to just three hits. In his last five starts, the right-hander has issued 14 walks and hit an additional three batters. The Brewers acquired May and JoJo Romero (abdomen) from the Cardinals on Monday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
May has turned in a nice 2026 campaign, collecting a 4.38 ERA and 106:35 K:BB over 109 innings covering 21 starts for the Cardinals. The right-hander is earning $12.5 million this season and is an impending free agent.
