Blue Jays' Jesus Sanchez: Idle against southpaw
Sanchez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Phillies.
Southpaw Jesus Luzardo is on the bump for the Phillies, so Blue Jays manager John Schneider will send Sanchez and Nathan Lukes to the bench to clear room in the outfield for a pair of right-handed bats in Myles Straw and Davis Schneider. Sanchez has gone just 4-for-27 (.148) with a 0:5 BB:K against lefties this season.

Blue Jays' Jesus Sanchez: Swats first homer since return
Sanchez went 1-for-3 with a walk and a two-run home run in Wednesday's extra-inning win over the Astros.
His sixth-inning homer off Hunter Brown tied the game at 3-3, setting the stage for the Blue Jays' victory in the 10th. It was Sanchez's first long ball in four games since coming off the IL, and he's settling back in as the top option in left field against right-handed pitching. On the season, the 28-year-old is slashing .270/.313/.438 through 77 contests with eight homers, one steal, 12 runs and 32 RBI.

Blue Jays' Jesus Sanchez: Tracking toward Friday return
Sanchez (ankle) is on track to return from the 10-day injured list Friday against the Cardinals, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Sanchez has played three rehab games thus far and will move his assignment up to Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday. He will play a couple more contests at the team's top minor-league affiliate before getting reinstated Friday if all goes well. Sanchez has been shelved since late June with a sprained right ankle. He should step back in as Toronto's primary left fielder upon his return.

Sanchez (ankle) began a rehab assignment in the Florida Complex League on Thursday, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Sanchez has been participating in running and hitting drills at the Jays' complex in Florida since July 6, though Thursday marks the first time he's played in a game after landing on the IL with a sprained ankle in late June. He'll move up to Single-A Dunedin on Friday before joining Triple-A Buffalo early next week, seemingly putting him on pace to rejoin the big club at the end of July or early August.

Blue Jays' Jesus Sanchez: Closing in on rehab assignment
The Blue Jays announced July 6 that Sanchez (ankle) has been running and hitting at the club's complex in Florida, MLB.com reports.
Sanchez hasn't yet been cleared to begin a rehab assignment in the rookie-level Florida Complex League during the All-Star break, but he could travel north following the break to receive a reassessment from Blue Jays doctors before reporting to a higher-level affiliate for game action. After Sanchez was placed on the shelf June 27 due to a right ankle sprain, the Blue Jays initially turned to Yohendrick Pinango as their primary left fielder, but Jonatan Clase has since supplanted Pinango as Sanchez's main replacement in the corner outfield.

The Blue Jays placed Sanchez on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a right ankle sprain.

X-rays came back negative after the game, but he won't be able to avoid spending time on the injured list. He'll be eligible to return July 7; meanwhile, Yohendrick Pinango will return from Triple-A to fill the opening on the 26-man roster.

Blue Jays' Jesus Sanchez: Tending to bruised wrist
The Blue Jays announced that Sanchez was removed in the bottom of the sixth inning of Sunday's 9-5 loss to the Orioles due to a right wrist contusion.
Sanchez went 1-for-2 with a base hit before leaving the game midway through the bottom of the sixth, when he appeared to be hit by a ball thrown into the field of play by a fan. Fortunately for Sanchez, precautionary X-rays came back negative, and he'll get an extra day to rest up and recover before the Blue Jays return to action Tuesday in Atlanta. Yohendrick Pinango replaced Sanchez in right field during Sunday's contest and would likely be the top choice to start Tuesday if Sanchez isn't ready to play.
