  • Marlins' Cristian Pache: On bench for third straight

Pache is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Pirates. With Derek Hill (shoulder) requiring a trip to the injured list, Pache seemed to have settled into a regular role in center field, making four straight starts from Tuesday through Friday. However, Pache now finds himself on the bench for the third straight contest, with all three absences coming against right-handed starters. Pache looks like he may have to settle for the short side of a platoon in center field with either Kyle Stowers or Javier Sanoja.

  • Marlins' Cristian Pache: Swipes bag in first Miami start

Pache went 1-for-4 with a run scored, an RBI and a stolen base in Sunday's win over Atlanta. Getting his first start for Miami in center field and batting seventh against southpaw Max Fried, Pache picked up his first steal of the season. The 25-year-old appears to be on the short side of a platoon with Nick Gordon in center for the Marlins, but Pache's elite defense could allow him to claim more playing time if he can make any kind of contribution with his bat. While Pache's .209/.296/.273 slash line in 125 plate appearances between the Phillies, Orioles and Marlins is poor, Gordon hasn't been much better with a .227/.258/.369 line.

  • Marlins' Cristian Pache: Claimed by Miami

The Marlins claimed Pache off waivers from the Orioles on Friday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. Pache is known for his superb center-field defense but has put up just a .570 OPS through 119 plate appearances this season between the Phillies and Orioles. He could get some run in center field in Miami for a rebuilding Marlins club.

  • Orioles' Cristian Pache: Dropped from 40-man

The Orioles designated Pache for assignment Thursday. Just six days after being traded from Philadelphia to Baltimore, Pache will now lose his roster spot with the Orioles in order to help make room for new additions Eloy Jimenez and Austin Slater. The 25-year-old Pache appeared in three games for the Orioles and tallied a hit during his lone at-bat with the team, though he still holds a middling .570 OPS through 119 plate appearances on the season.

  • Orioles' Cristian Pache: Sent to Baltimore

The Orioles acquired Pache and reliever Seranthony Dominguez from the Phillies in exchange for outfielder Austin Hays on Friday. Pache has filled a short-side platoon role in center field for Philadelphia at times this season, and a similar role could await in Baltimore. Pache's strength is his defense with plus-three DRS in 50 games this season, but he hasn't offered much offensively in 2024 with a .202/.288/.269 slash line and 36.4 percent strikeout rate.

  • Phillies' Cristian Pache: Captures short-side platoon role

Pache will start in center field and bat ninth in Sunday's game against the Pirates. Even though both he and Johan Rojas are right-handed hitters, Pache appears to have taken hold of the short side of a platoon in center field. Pache will be included in the lineup for the Phillies' third straight matchup with a lefty (Marco Gonzales) while Rojas sits.

  • Phillies' Cristian Pache: In lineup versus righty

Pache will start in center field and bat eighth in Tuesday's game versus the Padres. When Johan Rojas was sent down, the expectation was that Pache would be due for an uptick in playing time in center field versus left-handed pitching. However, he's in Tuesday's lineup against righty Michael King in just the second game since Rojas' demotion. Brandon Marsh will play left field and David Dahl will be on the bench.

  • Phillies' Cristian Pache: Starting again versus lefty

Pache is starting in left field and batting eighth Monday in Game 2 of the NLDS versus Atlanta, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. It was Brandon Marsh in left field for Game 1 against right-hander Spencer Strider. Southpaw Max Fried will toe the rubber for Game 2, so Pache gets the call in left. It's the third time in four games this postseason that the Phillies have faced a lefty and Pache has started in left field in all of them, reaching base twice and driving in one run in six plate appearances.

  • Phillies' Cristian Pache: Activated from IL

Pache (elbow) was activated from the 10-day injured list Friday, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports. Pache has been out since mid-July following surgery to remove a screw from his right elbow. Johan Rojas looks to have leap-frogged him on the Phillies' center field depth chart, but Pache could still see some starts against lefties.

  • Phillies' Cristian Pache: Closing in on rehab assignment

Pache (elbow) is expected to begin a minor-league rehab assignment during the upcoming week, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports. Pache has been taking part in baseball activities for nearly two weeks and looks like he'll soon be ready to test himself in a game setting after he was initially placed on the 10-day injured list July 14. When healthy this season, Pache has largely functioned as a depth outfielder for Philadelphia, but he could have an avenue to more regular playing time if he beats Brandon Marsh (knee) back from the IL. Marsh was deactivated Sunday and is expected to miss around 2-to-3 weeks.

  • Phillies' Cristian Pache: Light throwing, hitting

Pache (elbow) did some light throwing and hit off a tee Tuesday, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Pache will soon head to the Phillies' spring training complex in Florida to ramp up the intensity of his workouts. He required a cleanup procedure on his right elbow earlier this month but looks to be tracking toward a return sometime in August.

  • Phillies' Cristian Pache: Expected to return this season

Pache (elbow) will be sidelined for a few weeks but is expected to return this season, MLB.com reports. Pache had surgery on Monday to remove a screw from his right elbow which had been inserted during a previous operation. While there doesn't look to be a clear timetable for his return, it could be sometime in August.

  • Phillies' Cristian Pache: Elbow injury related to old surgery

The right elbow irritation which landed Pache on the 10-day injured list is related to an old surgery during which he had a screw inserted into his arm, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports. The surgery actually happened back before Pache began his pro career back in 2016. It's currently viewed as a minor injury, although a timetable for his return won't be known until after he visits the doctor.

  • Phillies' Cristian Pache: Lands on IL with elbow injury

Pache was placed on the 10-day injured list Friday with right elbow irritation. It had been reported that Pache was heading to the IL and now we know what injury he's dealing with. The issue is considered minor, so he should be ready to return around the time he's first eligible July 21. Johan Rojas will fill Pache's spot on the Phillies' roster and figures to take over the short-side platoon role in center field alongside Brandon Marsh.

  • Phillies' Cristian Pache: Returns from meniscus tear

Philadelphia activated Pache (knee) from the 10-day injured list Friday. Recovered from a late-April meniscus tear in his right knee, Pache will return to the Phillies' outfield mix ahead of Friday night's series opener against the Athletics. He went 3-for-25 (.120) in seven minor-league rehab games and doesn't offer much fantasy appeal, but Philly can use his help defensively.

  • Phillies' Cristian Pache: Back to baseball activity

Pache (knee) could begin a rehab assignment in the next couple weeks, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports. Pache has been sidelined since April 29 and had surgery to repair his right meniscus. He's since progressed in his recovery, as he's been hitting and also ramping up defensive drills. If all goes well, Pache seemingly could return in the middle of June.

  • Phillies' Cristian Pache: Undergoes knee surgery

Pache had surgery to repair his right meniscus Monday, Corey Seidman of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports. Per Seidman, the team expects Pache to need 4-to-6 weeks to recover from the procedure. Jake Cave and Dalton Guthrie, who was recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Saturday, could see an uptick in opportunities while Pache returns to full strength.

  • Phillies' Cristian Pache: Diagnosed with torn meniscus

Pache has been diagnosed with a torn meniscus in his right knee, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports. Pache suffered the injury Friday night in Houston while taking a lead off second base in the top of the fifth inning. He's already been placed on the 10-day IL and figures to be sidelined for at least the next several weeks following surgery to repair the meniscus tear. Dalton Guthrie was recalled by the Phillies on Saturday as a roster replacement and could be in for a decent helping of playing time in the outfield. Or perhaps Brandon Marsh will be used more against lefties moving forward.

  • Phillies' Cristian Pache: Placed on injured list

Pache was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a right knee injury, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports. There's no exact diagnosis yet, but Pache needs some time off after tweaking his right knee while running the bases Friday night against the Astros. Dalton Guthrie has been recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley in a corresponding move.

  • Phillies' Cristian Pache: Leaves with apparent injury

Pache left Friday's game against the Astros in the fifth inning with an apparent injury, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports Pache appeared to slip while taking a lead off second base, and the outfielder was unable to continue. Brandon Marsh has replaced Pache as a pinch runner.
