Cubs' Pete Crow-Armstrong: Swipes first bag
Crow-Armstrong went 1-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored in Thursday's 10-6 win over the Diamondbacks. He also stole a base.
It's been a bit of a slow start to the year for Crow-Armstrong, who went 0-for-7 with three strikeouts in Chicago's two-game opening series in Tokyo earlier this month. He didn't swipe any bags during that series either, but he got back to running once he reached base during the domestic opener. Maintaining a decent batting average remains a concern for Crow-Armstrong, but the 23-year-old has shown that he can record steals at a high rate when he gets the opportunity.

Cubs' Pete Crow-Armstrong: Having stellar spring
Through 10 Cactus League games, Crow-Armstrong is slashing .519/.500/1.000 with three home runs and 11 RBI.
The young outfielder handled a regular MLB role for the first time in 2024, and while he batted only .237 with a .286 on-base percentage, he did muster 10 home runs and 27 stolen bases in 123 games. Per Mike Petriello of MLB.com, Crow-Armstrong made some tweaks to his swing as the 2024 campaign went on, including moving back in the batter's box. The adjustments seemed to help, and if he can carry over some of his spring momentum into 2025, Crow-Armstrong could be poised for a true breakout effort.

Cubs' Pete Crow-Armstrong: Clubs pair of home runs
Crow-Armstrong went 2-for-3 with two home runs, five RBI, and two runs scored in Saturday's Cactus League game against the Mariners.
Crow-Armstrong missed some action earlier in the week with a hamstring issue but appears to be healthy after his big day at the plate Saturday. He hit a solo shot off Logan Gilbert in the second inning and followed it up with a grand slam in the third off Eduard Bazardo. Crow-Armstrong is slashing a robust .522/.500/1.087 through 21 plate appearances this spring. He's expected to serve as the Cubs' everyday center fielder this season.

Cubs' Pete Crow-Armstrong: Returning to lineup Tuesday
Crow-Armstrong (hamstring) will return to the Chicago lineup for Tuesday's Cactus League game against the Padres, Bruce Levine of 670TheScore.com reports. He'll start in center field and bat seventh.
Crow-Armstrong was scratched from the lineup for Monday's game against the Diamondbacks due to right hamstring tightness, but the young outfielder said his absence was precautionary, and he could have played if necessary. The 22-year-old is slated to serve as the Cubs' everyday center fielder this season.

Cubs' Pete Crow-Armstrong: Scratched with tight hamstring
Crow-Armstrong was scratched from the lineup for Monday's Cactus League game against the Diamondbacks due to right hamstring tightness, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
The Cubs are labeling Crow-Armstrong's removal from the lineup as precautionary, but a hamstring injury is nonetheless worrisome, especially for a player who relies so much on his speed. Consider Crow-Armstrong day-to-day for the time being.

Cubs' Pete Crow-Armstrong: Unlikely to hit leadoff
Chicago manager Craig Counsell said his "gut says no" when asked about Crow-Armstrong serving as the Cubs' leadoff hitter to begin the regular season, Sahadev Sharma and Patrick Mooney of The Athletic report.
With Cody Bellinger now in New York, Crow-Armstrong seems to have center field all to himself in Chicago, though he may not slide into the leadoff spot despite his great speed on the bases. The 22-year-old flashed plenty of promise in 2024 with 10 home runs and 27 stolen bases in 123 games, but he also batted just .237 with a .286 on-base percentage. Crow-Armstrong will have to show more consistency in getting on base if he wants to move up to the top of the order. However, even if he hits lower in the lineup, the youngster has enough upside to have a breakout campaign in 2025.
