  • Marlins' Owen Caissie: Goes deep against Seattle

Caissie went 1-for-2 with a solo home run and a walk during Miami's 6-5 extra-inning win over Seattle on Tuesday. Caissie opened Tuesday's scoring with a 418-foot solo home run to right-center field off Mariners right-hander Bryan Woo. It was the 12th home run of the season for Caissie, who has gone deep in three of his last six games. He has a .239 batting average over 246 plate appearances this season, but Caissie has been better at the plate as of late, going 12-for-38 (.316) with one steal, four homers and 11 RBI over his last 15 games.

  • Marlins' Owen Caissie: Heading to bench vs. lefty

Caissie is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Athletics. Miami will keep Caissie and fellow left-handed hitters Kyle Stowers, Joe Mack and Griffin Conine on the bench for the series finale in Sacramento while southpaw Gage Jump takes the hill for the Athletics. Caissie started in right field or at designated hitter in the Marlins' last five games and went 3-for-15 with two home runs, six RBI and an additional run.

  • Marlins' Owen Caissie: Belts 11th homer

Caissie went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Friday's win over the A's. The Marlins took advantage of a trip to Sutter Health Park in Sacramento by launching five homers on the night, including Caissie's 390-foot shot the other way to left-center field in the ninth inning off Mason Barnett. Five of Caissie's 11 homers on the season have come in his last 15 games, a stretch in which he's slashing an impressive .357/.396/.762 with 10 runs and 14 RBI.

  • Marlins' Owen Caissie: Continues to heat up

Caissie went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run and a second run scored in Tuesday's rout of the Rockies. The Marlins plated runs in seven of their nine innings en route to a 14-3 win at Coors Field, and Caissie got in on the offensive barrage in the eighth by crushing a John Brebbia fastball 453 feet into the second deck in right field. Caissie caught fire in the back half of June, and over his last 12 games he's produced a .394/.447/.818 slash line with two doubles, four homers, nine runs and 11 RBI while reducing his strikeout rate to a somewhat palatable 26.3 percent.

  • Marlins' Owen Caissie: Idle against southpaw

Caissie is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rockies. The Marlins will send Caissie and two other left-handed batters (Griffin Conine and Graham Pauley) to the bench while lefty Sean Sullivan toes the rubber for Colorado in the series opener. Caissie had started in Miami's last five games, going 4-for-12 with a home run, a double, a walk, three RBI and three runs.

  • Marlins' Owen Caissie: Swats ninth homer

Caissie went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Tuesday's win over the Rangers. He also struck out two more times, but Caissie provided what proved to be crucial insurance runs in the fifth inning when he took Jose Corniell deep on a first-pitch changeup that caught way too much of the plate. Caissie's up to nine homers on the season, and four of them have come over 17 contests in June -- a stretch in which he's slashing .191/.273/.489 with six runs, 14 RBI and a 32.7 percent strikeout rate.

  • Marlins' Owen Caissie: Smacks game-tying homer Friday

Caissie went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored during the Marlins' 9-7 extra-inning loss to the Mets on Friday. Caissie tied the game at 7-7 after taking Tobias Myers deep to right-center field for a two-run home run. It was the fifth home run of the season for Caissie, three of which have come over his last 15 games. In that 15-game span, the 23-year-old Canadian has gone 12-for-39 (.308) with 12 RBI and one steal.

  • Marlins' Owen Caissie: Hitting bench against lefty

Caissie is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against Atlanta. Miami will keep the left-handed-hitting Caissie on the bench for the second straight night while Atlanta goes with another lefty starting pitcher (Chris Sale). Javier Sanoja will step in for Caissie as Miami's starting right fielder.

  • Marlins' Owen Caissie: Rejoining lineup Wednesday

Caissie (triceps) will start in right field and bat eighth in Wednesday's game against the Twins. Caissie will rejoin the starting nine for the first time since Saturday, after left triceps discomfort kept him on the bench for the previous two contests. Before the injury cropped up, Caissie had gotten off to an underwhelming start to the 2026 campaign, slashing just .198/.254/.317 with a 41.2 percent strikeout rate over 114 plate appearances.

  • Marlins' Owen Caissie: Should be ready to play Tuesday

Marlins manager Clayton McCullough said after Sunday's 5-2 win over the Nationals that Caissie (triceps) will likely be available following Monday's team off day, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. Caissie was scratched from the starting nine ahead of Sunday's contest due to left triceps discomfort, but his removal from the lineup appears to have been mostly as a matter of precaution. Miami added Heriberto Hernandez to the starting nine in Caissie's stead, and he went 2-for-4 with two RBI in Sunday's victory.

  • Marlins' Owen Caissie: Deployed off bench Sunday

Caissie went 1-for-2 after replacing Kyle Stowers in right field during Sunday's loss to the Phillies. With the Marlins down 7-0, Caissie came off the bench to begin the sixth inning in order to give Stowers a bit of a rest. Caissie wasn't in the starting nine Saturday or Sunday due to a stomach bug, but he could be back in the lineup for the series finale Monday against right-hander Aaron Nola. Caissie is slashing .207/.248/.337 through his first 31 games for Miami with two homers and a brutal 42.6 percent strikeout rate.

  • Marlins' Owen Caissie: On bench again Sunday

Caissie (illness) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Phillies. Caissie is on the bench for the second day in a row, after an illness caused him to be scratched prior to Saturday's 4-0 win. The Phillies are sending left-hander Jesus Luzardo to the hill Sunday, so Caissie's continued absence from the starting nine might have more to do with the matchup than his illness.

  • Marlins' Owen Caissie: Lands in Miami via trade

The Marlins acquired Caissie, Cristian Hernandez and Edgardo De Leon from the Cubs on Wednesday in exchange for Edward Cabrera, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports. Caissie has nothing left to prove in the minors, having slashed .281/.380/.507 with 41 home runs at Triple-A Iowa over the last two seasons. The 23-year-old struggled in his cup of coffee with the Cubs in 2025 and has posted a 29.1 percent strikeout rate in the minors, but Caissie's power will play in the majors if he makes enough contact. He's the favorite to open the 2026 season as the Marlins' primary right fielder.

  • Cubs' Owen Caissie: Back in big leagues

The Cubs recalled Caissie from Triple-A Iowa on Saturday. Caissie slashed .208/.240/.375 across 25 plate appearances during his first stint in the majors in August and has gone 6-for-24 with three RBI, five runs scored and two steals since being sent down to Triple-A. He'll now rejoin the big club to provide depth in the outfield, replacing Kevin Alcantara.

  • Cubs' Owen Caissie: Dispatched to minors

The Cubs optioned Caissie to Triple-A Iowa on Monday. Caissie was unable to find regular reps in the Cubs' crowded outfield and slashed only .208/.240/.375 during his limited opportunities following his Aug. 14 call-up. The top prospect will head back to Iowa for now but could get another look later this month if a need arises.

  • Cubs' Owen Caissie: Collects first MLB hit

Caissie went 1-for-3 with a single in a 7-0 loss to the Brewers in the first game of Monday's doubleheader. The Cubs only had two hits as a team in the lopsided loss, but one of them was memorable, as it was the first hit at the MLB level for Caissie. The 23-year-old is now 1-for-8 since getting promoted to the majors on Thursday. While the youngster has plenty of talent, he's yet to grab an everyday role in a crowded Chicago outfield, which limits Caissie's fantasy upside for the time being.

  • Cubs' Owen Caissie: Hitless in MLB debut

Caissie went 0-for-4 during Thursday's 2-1 loss to Toronto. One of the Cubs' top prospects, Caissie made his big-league debut Thursday batting fifth and playing DH, but he'll be on the bench Friday. The 23-year-old doesn't have a clear path to an everyday role as Ian Happ, Pete Crow-Armstrong and Kyle Tucker will fill the outfield most nights, and Seiya Suzuki has dominated the DH work.

  • Cubs' Owen Caissie: Promotion made official

The Cubs recalled Caissie from Triple-A Iowa on Thursday, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. The 23-year-old slashed an impressive .291/.391/.567 with 22 home runs over 402 plate appearances this season at Iowa to earn his first look in the majors. How frequently Caissie ultimately plays with the big club will be a question mark. Caissie is limited to the corner outfield and designated hitter, and the Cubs have all of Kyle Tucker, Ian Happ and Seiya Suzuki at full health and available to fill out those three spots on an everyday basis. The rookie is starting in the DH spot and batting fifth in his major-league debut Thursday in Toronto.

  • Cubs' Owen Caissie: Selected to 40-man roster

The Cubs selected Caissie to their 40-man roster Tuesday, Kiley McDaniel of ESPN.com reports. Caissie spent the entire 2024 campaign with Triple-A Iowa, where he slashed .278/.375/.472 with 19 homers and 75 RBI across 549 plate appearances. The 22-year-old is regarded as one of the most promising prospects in Chicago's farm system, and a strong spring could be all he needs to break camp with the big-league squad.

  • Cubs' Owen Caissie: Power, Ks at Triple-A

Caissie has four home runs, 14 strikeouts and five walks in 34 at-bats this month for Triple-A Iowa. The 21-year-old outfielder is slashing .278/.403/.454 with seven home runs, five steals and a 29 percent strikeout rate in 57 games at Triple-A. Caissie's power and strikeouts have both spiked over the past couple weeks. He hits the ball hard (30.3 percent hard-hit rate), especially for his age, but Caissie's .397 BABIP this year at Triple-A and .407 BABIP last year at Double-A are inflated marks that have propped up his batting averages.
