  • Yankees' Justin Lange: Moves past shoulder injury

High-A Hudson Valley reinstated Lange (shoulder) from its 60-day injured list and assigned him to Single-A Tampa on Saturday. Lange didn't pitch at all in 2024 while recovering from a shoulder injury and remained out of commission for the first two months of this season before starting up a rehab assignment in early June. After three rehab appearances in the rookie-level Florida Complex League, Lange was advanced to Tampa on June 24. He looks like he'll stick around in the Florida State League for the time being while he continues to knock off some rust, though Lange has been sharp thus far. Over his four appearances with Tampa, Lange has struck out three while allowing no runs on three hits and two walks in 4.2 innings.

  • Yankees' Justin Lange: Out with shoulder injury

Lange is on the 60-day injured list with High-A Hudson due to a shoulder injury, Jim Callis of MLB.com reports. Lange made three starts at High-A to finish last season after opening the year with 18 starts at Single-A. He has flashed impressive pure stuff in the past, but the 22-year-old righty has never had a walk rate below 13.5 percent and likely projects as a reliever if he ever makes the big leagues.

  • Yankees' Justin Lange: Velocity up this year

Lange has shown increased velocity this season, according to Geoff Pontes of Baseball America, and has a 3.70 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 45 strikeouts in 24.1 innings through six starts for Single-A Tampa. The 6-foot-4 righty was traded from the Padres to the Yankees in March of 2022 in exchange for Luke Voit, but it wasn't until this spring that Lange showed enough promise to potentially make the Padres regret that swap. Per Pontes, Lange has been sitting in the mid-90s and touching 98 mph with his fastball while mixing in a high-80s cutter, changeup and a low-80s sweeper.
