  • Dodgers' Nick Frasso: Optioned to Triple-A

Frasso (shoulder) was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sunday.

Frasso is still recovering from procedures on his shoulder and hip, and he's not expected to be ready to pitch until late in the season. Once healthy, he'll likely return to the mound with Oklahoma City, where he produced a 3.26 ERA and 1.36 WHIP with 13 strikeouts over 19.1 innings in four starts last season.

  • Dodgers' Nick Frasso: Has surgery on right hip

Frasso had a cleanup procedure on his right hip labrum and the Dodgers are aiming to have him back for the Arizona Fall League, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Frasso is currently rehabbing from a labrum injury in his right shoulder that he got surgery for in November. Given the multiple procedures, it's unlikely that the pitching prospect will make his MLB debut in 2024. Frasso split time between Double-A and Triple-A last season and registered a 3.77 ERA and 1.27 WHIP over 93 innings.

  • Dodgers' Nick Frasso: To miss most of 2024

Frasso underwent labrum repair surgery in November and will miss the majority of the 2024 season, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Frasso suffered the injury toward the end of last season while pitching at Triple-A Oklahoma City. He registered a 3.77 ERA and 1.27 WHIP across 93 innings between Double-A and Triple-A and was trending toward potentially making his MLB debut near the end of 2024, but it will now be a while before Frasso gets a chance to follow up on his success.

  • Dodgers' Nick Frasso: Selected to 40-man roster

The Dodgers selected Frasso to their 40-man roster Tuesday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

A fourth-round pick in the 2020 MLB Draft out of Loyola Marymount University, the now 25-year-old right-hander has compiled a 2.96 ERA with 191 strikeouts in 152 career minor-league innings. Frasso finished the 2023 campaign with Triple-A Oklahoma City and could arrive in Los Angeles at some point in 2024.

  • Dodgers' Nick Frasso: Rebounds after rough stretch

Frasso has a 3.64 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 64 strikeouts in 47 innings across 15 starts for Double-A Tulsa.

He had a rough stretch from June 2 through July 3, where he gave up 15 earned runs while striking out 12 and walking seven in 9.2 innings across six appearances, but Frasso has been his normal dominant self in his two most recent outings (12 strikeouts in 7.2 frames). The 24-year-old righty logged between 54 and 60 innings in his first full pro season in 2022 and in 2019 and 2018 while at Loyola Marymount, so he could soon set a career high for innings in a season.

  • Dodgers' Nick Frasso: Dealt to Dodgers

Frasso was traded from the Blue Jays to the Dodgers on Tuesday along with Moises Brito in exchange for Mitch White and Alex De Jesus, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

Frasso is an emerging pitcher with upside, having logged a 0.74 ERA, 0.71 WHIP and 57:10 K:BB in 36.2 innings over 10 appearances between Single-A and High-A. The Dodgers seemingly targeted Frasso, 23, in this deal, and his stock could continue to climb once he is pitching at more age-appropriate levels.

  • Blue Jays' Nick Frasso: Shines in High-A debut

Frasso made his debut for High-A Vancouver on Monday and threw four hitless innings, striking out 10 with one walk.

As part of that effort, he struck out 2020 AL Rookie of the Year Kyle Lewis (who's on a rehab assignment) twice. This comes on the heels of Frasso being all but untouchable, if old for the level, in Single-A -- he put up a 0.70 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 42:8 K:BB across 25.2 innings before being promoted. All told, Frasso has pitched just 34.2 innings so far in his pro career since being picked in the fourth round of the 2020 draft, but he's given up only 16 hits while striking out 60 hitters. While he's still an older prospect at 23, Frasso's fastball is touching triple digits these days, so even if he ultimately can't cut it as a starter, he'll have a good shot at making the majors in a bullpen role. For now, he bears watching in dynasty formats.
