  • Angels' Denzer Guzman: Officially called up by Halos

The Angels recalled Guzman from Triple-A Salt Lake and he will start at second base and bat fifth in Monday's game against the Astros. The Angels needed more depth in the infield after placing both Vaughn Grissom (oblique) and Adam Frazier (elbow) on the 10-day injured list, so Guzman and Trey Mancini will both join the big club's 26-man roster. Guzman appeared in 13 major-league games for the Angels in 2025 and went 8-for-42 (.190) with two home runs and three RBI. He's been far more productive at the plate in Triple-A, where he has a .336/.403/.571 slash line with nine steals (in 13 attempts), 12 home runs and 57 RBI in 268 plate appearances.

  • Angels' Denzer Guzman: Set for MLB call-up

The Angels will recall Guzman from Triple-A Salt Lake on Monday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. Guzman has been enjoying the favorable hitting environments of the Pacific Coast League, slashing .336/.403/.571 with 12 home runs and nine stolen bases in 268 plate appearances with Salt Lake so far this season. Whiffs were a major problem in his first cup of coffee in the majors last season, as he fanned in more than half of his 42 at-bats, but Guzman has cut his strikeout rate down considerably at the Triple-A level. The 22-year-old could get a look at third base for the last-place Angels while Yoan Moncada (knee) is on the injured list.

  • Angels' Denzer Guzman: Sent down to Salt Lake

The Angels optioned Guzman to Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday. Guzman had himself a nice spring, going 5-for-17 at the dish with a home run, two RBI and four runs scored through nine Cactus League contests. However, after posting a .566 OPS and striking out 22 times in 13 MLB games last year, the Angels will send him back to Triple-A to begin the 2026 campaign. The 22-year-old infielder could receive a promotion to Los Angeles midway through the season if he continues to hit well and improves his discipline at the plate.

  • Angels' Denzer Guzman: Called up to majors

The Angels selected Guzman's contract from Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday. Guzman has played both shortstop and third base in the minors this season and has slashed .247/.343/.769 with 17 home runs, 74 RBI and 14 stolen bases across 129 games between Double-A and Triple-A. Zach Neto (hand) remains out of the Angels' lineup Saturday, so Guzman is starting at shortstop and batting seventh for what will be his MLB debut, per Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com. Los Angeles also promoted infielder Christian Moore from the minors Saturday while designating infielder Scott Kingery for assignment. Outfielder Matthew Lugo was also optioned to Salt Lake in a move that helped make room on the 26-man roster for Guzman and Moore.

  • Angels' Denzer Guzman: Gets full-season look

Guzman has gone 1-for-7 with three walks and five strikeouts in two games for Single-A Inland Empire since receiving a promotion Thursday from the rookie-level Arizona Complex League. Signed for $2 million out of the Dominican Republic in January 2021, the 18-year-old infielder didn't make his professional debut until June, when ACL play began. He earned the bump up to a full-season affiliate after slashing .286/.341/.422 with a 7.2 percent walk rate in 211 plate appearances in rookie ball.
