  • White Sox's Ky Bush: Recalled, shelved with tricep injury

The White Sox recalled Bush from Triple-A Charlotte on Saturday and placed him on the 15-day injured list with a left tricep strain, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

Chicago optioned Bush to Triple-A on Aug. 26, and despite making a one-inning start for Charlotte on Sept. 7, he'll revert to the big club's 15-day IL after suffering the injury in that outing. Given the timing of the injury, Bush is unlikely to be activated before the season ends Sept. 29. Bush made four starts for the White Sox prior to his demotion in late August, logging a 5.60 ERA and 2.04 WHIP while walking more batters (16) than he struck out (11) over 17.2 innings.

  • White Sox's Ky Bush: Moved back to minors

The White Sox optioned Bush to Triple-A Charlotte on Monday.

Bush managed one nice start against the Astros, but his other three outings during his first stint in the big leagues were woeful, as the lefty ultimately collected a 5.60 ERA and 11:16 K:BB over 17.2 frames across the four starts. The left-hander will work on ironing out his issues at Charlotte and the White Sox will now need a starter for three week's series against the Rangers to take Bush's spot.

  • White Sox's Ky Bush: Tagged with third loss

Bush (0-3) picked up the loss in Saturday's 14-3 loss against the Tigers. He pitched three inning and allowed five runs on eight hits with a walk and a strikeout.

Bush was roughed up in his fourth career start, setting new highs in hits and runs allowed. He was coming off a quality start last Sunday against the Astros and had allowed a combined six runs in his first three starts before running into trouble against the Tigers. Bush has a 5.60 ERA in his four starts with 16 walks over 17.2 innings, which makes him untrustworthy for fantasy purposes.

  • White Sox's Ky Bush: Settles for tough-luck loss

Bush (0-2) allowed a run on four hits and three walks over six innings Sunday, striking out five and taking a loss against Houston.

Bush worked around trouble through five scoreless frames before coughing up a solo shot to Yainer Diaz in the sixth inning. He was stuck with an unfortunate loss as the White Sox were shut out by Framber Valdez and the Astros bullpen. Bush forced 13 whiffs after totaling just 12 in his first two starts. He's sporting a 3.68 ERA with a 10:15 K:BB through 14.2 innings to begin his MLB career. Bush is currently lined up for a home matchup with the Tigers next weekend.

  • White Sox's Ky Bush: Struggles with control

Bush did not factor into the decision in Monday's 12-2 win over the Yankees, allowing two runs on six hits and seven walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out two.

The Chicago rookie miraculously escaped with only two runs on his register after allowing 13 batters to reach base. Bush's track record of wildness during the minors this season - issuing 42 free passes in 99.2 innings across two stops -- has followed him to the majors, as he's now walked 12 against five strikeouts in his first 8.2 big-league innings. Until the 24-year-old can limit the walks, he makes for an extremely risky fantasy option. He currently lines up to make his next start against the Astros in Houston this weekend.

  • White Sox's Ky Bush: Drawing another start

Bush is scheduled to start Monday's game against the Yankees at Guaranteed Rate Field.

He'll make a second straight turn through the rotation after he was dealt a loss in his big-league debut against Oakland this past Monday, when he lasted four innings and struck out three while allowing three earned runs on two hits and five walks. The 6-foot-6 lefty had been plagued by control problems at his previous stops at Double-A Birmingham (14.5 percent walk rate) and Triple-A Charlotte (7.1 percent walk rate) prior to getting called up, so he'll likely need to display some improvement in that regard before he can be streamed or rostered with any confidence.

  • White Sox's Ky Bush: Takes loss in big-league debut

Bush (0-1) took the loss against Oakland on Monday, allowing three runs on two hits and five walks while striking out three batters over four innings.

Bush was called up from Triple-A Charlotte on Monday for his first major-league appearance and was handed the task of trying to end Chicago's 20-game losing streak. The southpaw couldn't get the job done, mostly due to his control -- he gave up just two hits but walked five batters and threw only 45 of 85 pitches for strikes. Bush struggled with walks in the minors too, issuing 42 free passes over 99.2 frames between Double-A and Triple-A. Despite Monday's rough start, he could get at least another turn in the rotation with Drew Thorpe (forearm) landing on the injured list Friday.

  • White Sox's Ky Bush: Officially called up for MLB debut

The White Sox selected Bush's contract from Triple-A Charlotte on Monday.

Bush will fill the opening in the White Sox rotation to start Monday's game against the Athletics in his MLB debut. The 24-year-old has logged a 6.16 ERA across 19 innings for Charlotte following his promotion from Double-A Birmingham in early July, making him a risky streaming option, despite pitching in a hitter-friendly park in Oakland against a strikeout-prone Athletics lineup.

  • White Sox's Ky Bush: Set for major-league debut Monday

Bush is expected to be called up from Triple-A Charlotte to start Monday's game against the Athletics in Oakland, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Acquired from the Angels last summer, Bush had opened his first full season in the White Sox organization at Double-A Birmingham before earning a promotion to Charlotte shortly before the All-Star break. The 24-year-old has made four appearances (two starts) with Charlotte, compiling a 6.16 ERA and 1.71 WHIP with 16 strikeouts over 19 innings. With the White Sox in the midst of a 20-game losing streak, they appear willing to take a look at young players like Bush who could help them down the line.

  • White Sox's Ky Bush: Headed to Triple-A

Bush was promoted to Triple-A Charlotte on Monday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Bush will move up a level in the White Sox minor-league system after he produced a 2.12 ERA and 1.03 WHIP with 78 strikeouts over 80.2 innings in 14 starts with Double-A Birmingham this season. With Chicago completely out of the postseason picture and expected to be sellers at the trade deadline, it's possible that Bush could find his way to the major-league roster down the road if he impresses at the Triple-A level.

  • White Sox's Ky Bush: Shipped to White Sox

The White Sox acquired Bush along with catcher Edgar Quero from the Angels on Wednesday in exchange for right-handers Lucas Giolito and Reynaldo Lopez, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Bush missed the first few months of the season at Double-A Rocket City with an oblique strain and has put up a 5.88 ERA and 1.42 WHIP through 26 innings across six starts since returning. Though his stats don't jump off the page on first glance, he's allowed just three runs over his last three starts (14.2 IP) and has demonstrated an ability to strike batters out at a solid rate. If he continues at his current rate, there's a chance the 23-year-old southpaw makes his MLB debut before the end of next season.

  • Angels' Ky Bush: Recovered from lat strain

Bush (lat strain) struck out six and walked three over four innings in his first start of the year for Double-A Rocket City.

He gave up one run and allowed only one hit in last week's start, although his control was a little shaky. It was reported in early February that Bush was dealing with a minor oblique injury, which ended up resulting in a four-month absence, but Baseball America recently reported that it was a lat strain. The 6-foot-6 southpaw made 21 starts at Double-A in 2022, so he could quickly advance to Triple-A.

  • Angels' Ky Bush: Starts up rehab stint

Bush (oblique) made a rehab appearance Thursday for the Angels' rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate, recording just one out while allowing five runs (four earned) on five hits and one walk.

Bush's 2023 debut was an inauspicious one, as he retired just one of the eight batters he faced. The Angels will hope that Bush's rough showing was a byproduct of rust rather than any lingering discomfort from the left oblique injury that has kept him on the shelf all season. Once he ramps up over the course of multiple rehab outings in the lower minors, Bush is expected to settle into the rotation at Double-A Rocket City.
