The Brewers optioned Gasser to the rookie-level ACL Brewers on Tuesday.
The left-hander seemed likely to stick on the big-league roster with the Brewers expected to utilize a six-man rotation through the All-Star break, but he's instead been jettisoned from the 26-man roster. Gasser still seems likely to get another look with Milwaukee soon since there is a doubleheader on deck next week in St. Louis.

Brewers' Robert Gasser: Re-entering rotation Monday
Gasser is slated to start Monday's game against the Reds, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
After Brandon Woodruff was reinstated from the injured list last Monday, the Brewers kept a five-man rotation intact by shifting Gasser to the bullpen. The 27-year-old lefty wasn't needed in relief during the team's series with the Cubs over the weekend, and he'll now step back into a starting role after manager Pat Murphy previously told Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that the Brewers would shift to a six-man rotation through the All-Star break while Milwaukee closes its first-half schedule with 18 games in 17 days. Gasser -- who has submitted a 3.74 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 24:6 K:BB in 21.2 innings over his last four outings -- looks like an intriguing short-term pickup, particularly in leagues with weekly lineups. He'll tentatively line up for a two-start week, with his second appearance expected to come next Sunday in Arizona.

The hitter-friendly Las Vegas Ballpark has lived up to its reputation in the first two games of this series. Gasser gave up all six runs he allowed on four home runs, and the Brewers weren't able to bail him out. Through four starts this season, Gasser has had mixed results at best. He's posted a 6.38 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and 19:9 K:BB while allowing six homers across 18.1 innings. The bottom half of Milwaukee's rotation is still in flux, so it's not obvious when Gasser will make his next appearance, especially since the team has off days Thursday and Monday.

Gasser will draw a second straight turn through the rotation after he came through with a strong start Wednesday against the Giants following his call-up from Triple-A Nashville. The left-hander was handed a loss but kept the Brewers competitive, striking out five batters and yielding just one run on five hits and one walk across five innings. Though Gasser will get another chance Tuesday to solidify his spot in the rotation, he won't make for the most appealing streaming option at Las Vegas Ballpark, the home stadium of the Athletics' Triple-A affiliate. Even relative to other parks in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League, Las Vegas Ballpark has historically stood out as one of the more favorable offensive environments on the circuit.

Called up from Triple-A Nashville last weekend, Gasser endured a turbulent 2026 MLB debut in Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Twins, covering four innings and allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits and two walks while also hitting three batters with pitches. Manager Pat Murphy seems content to use Chad Patrick out of the bullpen for the time being, so rather than turning back to Patrick to fill the open spot in the rotation, the Brewers will give Gasser another look in a starting role. Gasser missed a turn through the Nashville rotation after experiencing muscle soreness in his left biceps and triceps following his season debut March 27, but he never required a stint on the injured list. Through his two starts, Gasser owns a 4.00 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 15:4 K:BB in nine innings. According to Adam McCalvy of MLB.com, Kyle Harrison had been in line to start Friday in the Brewers' series opener in Miami, but he's expected to be pushed back a few days in the pitching schedule while he tends to a left wrist injury. Milwaukee thus looks like it will have a need for a spot starter this weekend, and Gasser should be a candidate to fill the opening.

Brewers' Robert Gasser: Nursing arm injury
Gasser hasn't made an appearance for Triple-A Nashville since March 27 while dealing with muscle soreness in his left biceps and triceps, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
