The White Sox recalled Quero from Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday.
He's getting another opportunity following the injury to Kyle Teel (ankle). Quero slashed just .187/.253/.233 earlier this season for the White Sox and hit only .230/.299/.295 at Charlotte, so it's difficult to summon much confidence he'll right the ship offensively. However, he should get an opportunity to at least share the catching job with Drew Romo while Teel is shelved.

Kyle Teel suffered a left ankle injury during Monday's game and was later spotted on crutches, so he's likely headed to the 10-day injured list. Quero was sent down in late June after slashing just .187/.253/.233 in his first 55 games, and he didn't fare much better at Charlotte with a .230/.299/.295 batting line in 15 contests. The switch-hitting catcher will likely share starts behind the dish with Drew Romo while Teel is sidelined.

Rather than Quero, Chicago will keep Drew Romo on hand as its backup catcher after the team reinstated top backstop Kyle Teel (knee/hamstring) from the 60-day injured list in a corresponding move. Though he had a clear path to earning the bulk of the starts behind the plate while Teel was on the shelf for the first three months of the season, Quero quickly fell into a timeshare with Romo while slashing a lowly .187/.253/.233 with a 23.8 percent strikeout across 172 plate appearances. The switch-hitting Quero had been making most of his starts against left-handed pitching in recent weeks, but he should get the chance to play more frequently versus righties at Charlotte.
