Rockies' Jordan Romano: Picks up save No. 10
Romano allowed one run on two hits while striking out one batter over one inning against the Cardinals on Saturday to notch a save.
Romano got the call from the bullpen in the ninth inning with the Rockies up three runs. He needed the cushion, as the veteran reliever allowed a pair of singles to give up a run. However, Romano was able to strike out Cesar Prieto to finish off the save. Though it wasn't smooth, Romano's ability to convert the save should be a sigh of relief for his fantasy managers after he blew a save opportunity in his last appearance Aug. 4 versus Tampa Bay. He appears to have a pretty firm grasp on Colorado's closer role, converting six of seven save chances since joining the big-league roster July 4.

Rockies' Jordan Romano: Falters in save chance Tuesday
Romano allowed two runs on two hits and two walks while striking out two over one inning to take a blown save in Tuesday's 9-7 extra-inning loss to the Rays.
Romano blew a two-run lead in the ninth inning but was able to prevent further damage, leading to the extra frames. Over eight outings in July, he gave up just one run across 7.2 innings while converting five saves and adding a hold. He's now at a 6.48 ERA, 1.86 WHIP and 24:12 K:BB through 16.2 innings over 20 games between the Rockies and the Angels, adding nine saves in 12 chances. However, Romano's stability in the closer role likely improved after the Rockies dealt away Antonio Senzatela and Victor Vodnik at the trade deadline, though it's still risky to go chasing saves in the Colorado bullpen.

Rockies' Jordan Romano: Collects ninth save of 2026
Romano earned the save in Friday's 3-1 win over Kansas City, striking out one batter in a scoreless ninth inning.
Romano opened the ninth inning by striking out Salvador Perez, and the former needed only six more pitches to close things out for the Rockies in Friday's series opener. Romano has logged saves in each of his last four outings, and since being called up by Colorado in early July, he has a 1.17 ERA and 1.30 WHIP over 7.2 innings.

Rockies' Jordan Romano: Notches eighth save
Romano gave up two hits and struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning Friday to record his eighth save of the season in a 5-2 win over the Brewers.
The right-hander is now 4-for-4 in converting save chances for Colorado since being added to the big-league roster in early July, and his 1.35 ERA is a massive improvement on the 10.13 mark he produced with the Angels over 11 appearances to begin the campaign. Romano's 1.50 WHIP and 5.4 BB/9 in 6.2 innings with the Rockies suggest that turnaround is likely a mirage, however. As long as he's able to keep closing the door in the ninth inning, Romano should remain the top closing option for his new team, but he should still be viewed as a very volatile fantasy play.

Rockies' Jordan Romano: Picks up seventh save
Romano earned a save against the Nationals on Tuesday, striking out two batters over one perfect inning.
Every inning before the ninth featured at least one run by one or both teams, so Romano's task protecting an 8-7 lead didn't look like it would be an easy one. However, the veteran reliever made quick work of the three batters he faced, retiring the side on just 11 pitches. Romano has three saves in six appearances since making his Rockies debut July 4, so he appears to be the team's first choice to close games. Though he still carries a 6.59 ERA overall this season, Romano has surrendered just one run over 5.2 frames with Colorado.

Rockies' Jordan Romano: Settles for hold Friday
Romano allowed a run on one hit and three walks over two-thirds of an inning in Friday's 4-3 win over the Giants.
Romano was brought in to close out the game after the Rockies took the lead in the eighth inning. He couldn't get the job done, and Juan Mejia ultimately got the final out after Romano left the bases loaded. This was the first run Romano has allowed in four outings with the Rockies. He has a 7.71 ERA, 2.14 WHIP and 17:10 K:BB through 11.2 innings between the Rockies and the Angels, but he's also collected six saves and a hold. Romano is in the mix as part of Colorado's convoluted closer committee -- he's earned two of the team's three most recent saves, but no reliever on the roster has more than four saves all season.

Romano made it interesting but was able to wiggle out of his own jam to earn his second save in as many appearances. He's now firmly in the closer conversation for the Rockies, though the team's overall struggles make this a risky bullpen for fantasy managers to pursue save chances. Romano has a 7.36 ERA, 1.91 WHIP and 17:7 K:BB through 11 innings between the Rockies and Angels this season, though he's pitched three scoreless frames since joining Colorado's big-league roster.

Rockies' Jordan Romano: Picks up first save with new team
Romano allowed a hit and struck out two over a scoreless inning to earn the save in Sunday's 7-6 win over the Giants.
This was Romano's second appearance with the Rockies after his promotion Saturday. The veteran right-hander has five saves on the year -- he logged four for the Angels (and still leads that team in saves) before he was designated for assignment and released in late April. The Rockies' bullpen situation is far from settled, so Romano should have a chance to factor into the closer committee. He's posted an 8.10 ERA and 16:6 K:BB over 10 innings this season.

Rockies' Jordan Romano: Summoned to Colorado
The Rockies selected Romano's contract from Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday.
Romano inked a minor-league contract with Colorado in early May and has since been throwing for Albuquerque. Over nine appearances with the Triple-A club, he posted a 4.15 ERA, 0.61 WHIP and 10:0 K:BB with one save over 8.2 innings. Though Romano struggled to a 10.13 ERA and 2.12 WHIP at the outset of the season while with the Angels, he did log four saves (in six chances) and has registered 117 career regular-season saves in MLB. As such, he could get an opportunity to finish games for a Colorado bullpen that doesn't currently have a clear-cut closer.

Rockies' Jordan Romano: Latches on with Rockies
Romano signed a minor-league contract with the Rockies on Tuesday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
Romano began the season in the big leagues with the Angels but was released April 27 after allowing nine earned runs in just eight innings. He'll get another chance to prove himself with the Rockies, but he will first report to the team's complex in Arizona to iron out his mechanics.

Romano lost his spot on the Angels' 40-man roster over the weekend after posting a 10.13 ERA and 2.12 WHIP over eight innings across his 11 appearances out of the bullpen. After the veteran reliever went unclaimed off waivers, the Angels opted to part ways with him entirely, allowing Romano to seek out an opportunity elsewhere.

The veteran right-hander started the season strong with four saves and five scoreless frames in his first six outings, but the Angels have decided to cut him loose after he gave up nine earned runs in his past five appearances. Romano had an 8.23 ERA in 49 regular-season appearances for the Phillies in 2025 and may have a difficult time getting another look in the big leagues this year.
