  • Padres' Rodolfo Duran: Retreating to bench

Duran is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Cubs. For about a two-week stretch earlier this month, Duran served as the Padres' No. 1 catcher, but he's faded into more of a timeshare since Freddy Fermin returned from the 7-day injured list Tuesday. Though Fermin and Duran have now started three times apiece over the last six games, the playing time will likely tilt more in Fermin's direction once he's further removed from a concussion.

  • Padres' Rodolfo Duran: Goes deep again Sunday

Duran went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, three total RBI and two total runs in a 5-2 win against Baltimore on Sunday. With Freddy Fermin placed on the 7-day injured list early Sunday due to a concussion, Duran got the start behind the plate. He ended up being the star of San Diego's offense, producing both of the team's extra-base hits (an RBI double and a two-run homer) from the No. 9 spot in the batting order. Duran also went deep Saturday after entering for Fermin late in the contest, and he now has four extra-base hits (two doubles, two homers) and four RBI over his past nine plate appearances. Duran should serve as the Padres' primary catcher until Fermin or Luis Campusano (toe) returns to action. He's still batting a meager .176 on the campaign, but half of his six hits have left he park, and he went deep 15 times over 85 contests with Triple-A El Paso last season, so he could provide some temporary pop for fantasy managers in need of a backstop, particularly in two-catcher leagues.

  • Padres' Rodolfo Duran: Homers after late entry

Duran hit a solo home run in his only plate appearance during Saturday's 9-3 win against the Orioles. Freddy Fermin started behind the plate but had to leave after taking a warm-up pitch from Yuki Matsui to the head area in the sixth inning. Duran finished out the contest and took Albert Suarez deep in the eighth. Luis Campusano remains on the IL due to a toe injury, so if Fermin needs to miss additional time, Duran figures to take over as the Padres' primary catcher.

  • Padres' Rodolfo Duran: Slugs first big-league homer

Duran went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run against Seattle in a 7-4 victory Saturday. Duran achieved a professional milestone when he went deep with a two-run shot in the seventh inning for his first big-league homer. The 28-year-old is getting his first taste of the majors while Luis Campusano (toe) is on the 10-day injured list. Duran has previously shown some flashes of power in the minors -- he clubbed 15 home runs over 85 games with Triple-A El Paso in 2025 and had gone deep four times across 23 contests with El Paso before being called up this season.

  • Yankees' Rodolfo Duran: Back on NRI deal with Yanks

Duran and the Yankees agreed Tuesday to a minor-league contract with an invitation to major-league spring training. Duran was in the Yankees' system for part of the 2022 season and struggled to a .222 batting average and .680 OPS in 53 games (218 plate appearances) at Double-A Somerset. The soon-to-be 25-year-old catcher will probably be sent back to Double-A or Triple-A to open the 2023 campaign.

  • Yankees' Rodolfo Duran: Back from injured list

Duran (undisclosed) has gone 3-for-14 with a home run, a double, two walks and two RBI in four games since returning from Double-A Somerset's 7-day injured list May 5. Duran was sidelined for just over three weeks due to the unspecified injury. The 24-year-old is expected to serve as a part-time catcher for Somerset moving forward.

  • Yankees' Rodolfo Duran: Lands on injured list

Duran was placed on the 7-day minor-league injured list for an unspecified reason Friday, Matt Kardos of MLB.com reports. While the nature of Duran's absence isn't yet clear, he'll be forced to miss at least a week. He made two appearances at Double-A Somerset to begin the season, and he went 4-for-8 with a homer, two runs, a walk and three strikeouts.
