  • Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Hitless in return

Moreno went 0-for-3 in his return to the lineup Tuesday against the Giants following a one-game absence due to left adductor tightness.

Moreno was unable to get going, but he figures to be behind the plate for the majority of the Diamondbacks' remaining regular-season games as the club continues to fight for a wild-card spot.

  • Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Returns to lineup

Moreno (adductor) will start at catcher and bat eighth in Tuesday's game against the Giants.

Moreno was removed from Sunday's game against the Brewers and didn't play Monday versus the Giants due to left adductor tightness. However, he's feeling well enough to give it a go in this one as the Diamondbacks look to even the series.

  • Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Hoping to return to lineup Tuesday

Moreno hopes to return to the Diamondbacks' lineup as soon as Tuesday after an MRI on his left side didn't reveal any structural damage, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.

Moreno had to depart Sunday's game versus the Brewers with left adductor tightness, which is the same injury he returned from just over a week ago. However, he has managed to avoid a serious setback and is considered day-to-day. Moreno has been limited to just 20 games in the second half due to injury but is slashing .367/.443/.467 during that time.

  • Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Won't start Monday

Moreno (adductor) is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Giants.

Moreno will get at least one game off after he was removed from Sunday's 10-9 loss to the Brewers with left adductor tightness. Considering that Moreno missed nearly five weeks with a left adductor strain before he returned from the injured list Sept. 15, the backstop could be at risk of missing the entire final week of the regular season. For now, the Diamondbacks are considering Moreno day-to-day while they await the results of an MRI.

  • Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Considered day-to-day, getting MRI

Manager Torey Lovullo said after Sunday's 10-9 loss to the Brewers that Moreno (side) is considered day-to-day and will have an MRI on Monday, Jack Sommers of SI.com reports.

Moreno returned from the 10-day injured list Sept. 15 after missing nearly five weeks due to a left adductor strain, which he aggravated during Sunday's loss. Lovullo downplayed the seriousness of the issue and sounded hopeful that the 24-year-old catcher would be available off the bench for Monday's series opener against the Giants. If Moreno were to miss extended time, then Adrian Del Castillo could be brought up from Triple-A Reno to provide catching depth. Moreno went 0-for-1 with one walk before being replaced by Jose Herrera in the bottom of the fourth inning.

  • Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Battling renewed adductor tightness

Moreno exited Sunday's game against the Brewers with left adductor tightness, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.

As Friedman notes, it's the same injury that Moreno just returned from last week. The extent of his latest setback is uncertain, but this is potentially a big blow to an Arizona team primed for the playoffs. Even if Moreno doesn't need to go on the injured list, the team could bring Adrian Del Castillo back up for catching depth over the final week of the regular season.

  • Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Exits Sunday with injury

Moreno was removed from Sunday's game against the Brewers with an apparent injury, Jody Jackson of Bally Sports Arizona reports.

A ball bounced and hit Moreno in his lower abdomen, though Jackson said the backstop appeared to be favoring his leg more than his abdominal area. Regardless, Moreno had to leave the game, and his status is currently up in the air. The Diamondbacks wrap up their regular season with a six-game homestand next week.

  • Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Sitting down Saturday

Moreno isn't in Arizona's lineup Saturday versus Milwaukee.

Although Moreno has gone 6-for-13 with an RBI and two runs scored across his brief four-game hitting streak, he'll take a seat against Aaron Civale and the Brewers on Saturday. Jose Herrera will fill in at catcher and bat ninth.
