Mariners' Buddy Kennedy: Headed to Seattle
The Mariners acquired Kennedy from the Giants on Sunday in exchange for cash considerations.
San Francisco designated Kennedy for assignment earlier in the day, but the Giants didn't have to wait long to find a trade partner. The 27-year-old Kennedy played sparingly during his four-week stint in the majors with San Francisco, going 0-for-7 with a walk and three strikeouts over seven contests. Kennedy has no minor-league options remaining, so the Mariners will need to open up a spot for him on the 26-man active roster. He'll serve as a depth piece in the infield and outfield and could make occasional starts against left-handed pitching.

Giants' Buddy Kennedy: Loses 40-man roster spot
The Giants designated Kennedy for assignment Sunday.
Kennedy has his contract selected by the Giants in early June, but he barely saw the field with just eight plate appearances in seven games. The 27-year-old could head to Triple-A Sacramento if he passes through waivers unclaimed, though he'll also have the right to elect free agency.

Giants' Buddy Kennedy: Contract selected Monday
The Giants selected Kennedy's contract from Triple-A Sacramento on Monday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Kennedy has had a dynamite season with Sacramento, slashing .321/.424/.543 with eight home runs, five steals and a 27:27 BB:K over 48 games. The 27-year-old is likely slated for a reserve infielder role in San Francisco.

Giants' Buddy Kennedy: Sent out to MiLB camp
The Giants reassigned Kennedy to minor-league camp Wednesday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Kennedy had been attending big-league camp as a non-roster invitee and ultimately fell short in his fight for a utility role with the Giants. The 27-year-old is expected to report to Triple-A Sacramento to begin the season. Kennedy saw 13 games of big-league action in 2025, slashing .069/.156/.103 across stops with the Phillies, Dodgers and Blue Jays.

Giants' Buddy Kennedy: Inks minors deal with Giants
The Giants signed Kennedy to a minor-league contract Dec. 15.
Kennedy spent a little time in the majors with three different teams in 2025, going just 2-for-29 at the plate. The 27-year-old will likely begin the 2026 season at Triple-A Sacramento, where he'll give the Giants some experienced infield depth.

Dodgers' Buddy Kennedy: Booted from 40-man roster
The Dodgers designated Kennedy for assignment Monday.
Kennedy will head to the waiver wire while the Dodgers bring utility player Enrique Hernandez (elbow) back from the injured list. After being claimed off waivers by the Dodgers on Aug. 15, Kennedy went 1-for-17 with one RBI and one run scored over seven games. If he clears waivers, Kennedy could accept an outright assignment and stick around with the organization at Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Dodgers' Buddy Kennedy: Heading back to bench Thursday
Kennedy is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Rockies, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
After starting at third base in each of the last four games while going 1-for-13 at the dish, Kennedy will cede the hot corner to Alex Freeland for the series finale in Colorado. The right-handed-hitting Kennedy could occupy the short side of a platoon at third base with the switch-hitting Freeland until the Dodgers get one of their four injured infielders (Max Muncy, Hyeseong Kim, Tommy Edman and Enrique Hernandez) back from the shelf.

Dodgers' Buddy Kennedy: Claimed by Dodgers
Kennedy was claimed off waivers by the Dodgers on Friday, Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Kennedy will head to the West Coast after being DFA'd by the Blue Jays on Tuesday. Rather than report to Triple-A Oklahoma City, Kennedy will be on the Dodger's 26-man roster after Max Muncy (oblique) was placed on the 15-day injured list. Kennedy has spent most of the 2025 season in Triple-A, where he is slashing .268/.372/.408 with three steals, eight home runs and 45 RBI in 336 plate appearances. Kennedy will likely serve in a depth role in the infield while Alex Freeland and Miguel Rojas get most of the work at third base in Muncy's absence.

Blue Jays' Buddy Kennedy: Booted from 40-man roster
The Blue Jays designated Kennedy for assignment Tuesday.
Kennedy was cut loose to make room for Andres Gimenez (ankle), who was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Tuesday. Kennedy was not getting much playing time in Toronto, as he appeared in just six of 11 games during his time with the big club. Across 14 plate appearances, the 26-year-old went 1-for-12 in his short stint with the Blue Jays.

Blue Jays' Buddy Kennedy: Selected from Triple-A
The Blue Jays selected Kennedy's contract from Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
Since signing a minor-league deal with the Jays in mid-July, Kennedy has slashed just .207/.309/.259 with five RBI across 68 plate appearances with Buffalo. Despite his poor recent output, he'll join the major-league roster to provide Toronto with a glove capable of covering all three bases and left field. The Blue Jays designated catcher Ali Sanchez for assignment in a corresponding move.

Blue Jays' Buddy Kennedy: Gets MiLB pact from Blue Jays
Kennedy has gone 1-for-16 with one walk, two runs and one RBI in four games at Triple-A Buffalo since he signed a minor-league contract with the Blue Jays on Wednesday.
Kennedy elected free agency after being booted from the Phillies' 40-man roster earlier this month and quickly found an opportunity in a new organization. The infielder sports a career .193/.287/.296 batting line over parts of four big-league seasons.

Buddy Kennedy: Hits open market
Kennedy elected free agency Saturday.
The Phillies designated him for assignment, and rather than being outrighted to Triple-A, Kennedy elected to hit the open market. The righty-hitting Kennedy is better against lefties (career 73 wRC+) than righties (career 55 wRC+), and his lack of defensive utility has left him on the periphery of the Phillies, Tigers and Diamondbacks depth charts in recent years.

Phillies' Buddy Kennedy: Removed from 40-man roster
The Phillies designated Buddy Kennedy for assignment Monday.
The transaction clears a spot on the active roster for Bryce Harper's (wrist) return from the 10-day injured list. Kennedy went hitless in seven at-bats for the Phillies and hadn't started a game in nearly a week.

Phillies' Buddy Kennedy: Contract selected
The Phillies selected Kennedy's contract from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Thursday.
Kennedy earned a promotion after slashing.283/.388/.447 with eight home runs and a 41:31 K:BB over 61 games with Lehigh Valley, although he has cooled off in June with a .185/.323/.259 batting line. The 26-year-old will serve as a reserve infielder.

Phillies' Buddy Kennedy: Back with Philly
Kennedy signed a minor-league contract with the Phillies on Tuesday.
Kennedy elected free agency after clearing waivers Tuesday, but he will immediately reunite with the club and report to Triple-A Lehigh Valley. The 26-year-old turned in an .835 OPS across 464 plate appearances in the minors last season and should get regular playing time at Lehigh Valley while serving as organizational depth.

Buddy Kennedy: Elects free agency
Kennedy cleared waivers Tuesday and elected free agency, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.
Kennedy was designated for assignment Thursday after failing to make the Phillies out of spring training, and he will now seek out an opportunity with another organization rather than heading to Triple-A Lehigh Valley. The 26-year-old owns a .608 OPS across 149 plate appearances in his big-league career, but he should be able to at least attract a minor-league deal after slashing .274/.375/.460 in Triple-A last year.

Phillies' Buddy Kennedy: Booted from 40-man roster
The Phillies designated Kennedy for assignment Thursday, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

Phillies' Buddy Kennedy: Misses out on Opening Day roster
The Phillies will attempt to trade Kennedy before Opening Day, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.
Kennedy did not make the Opening Day roster, but the club has received trade interest in the 26-year-old and will attempt to swing a deal. If a trade doesn't come to fruition, Kennedy will be designated for assignment, as he is out of minor-league options.
