Tigers' Ryan Vilade: Back on bench Sunday
Vilade is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.
Vilade had started in right field in each of the past three games, but he went hitless with five strikeouts in nine at-bats and is now slashing .178/.208/.244 over 49 plate appearances with the Tigers on the season. With Matt Vierling (back) returning to the lineup at designated hitter Sunday and likely to return to the outfield in the near future, Vilade will likely return to a reserve role.

Tigers' Ryan Vilade: Recalled from Triple-A
The Tigers recalled Vilade from Triple-A Toledo on Friday, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

Tigers' Ryan Vilade: Heading back to Triple-A
The Tigers optioned Vilade to Triple-A Toledo on Sunday.
Though he had picked up starts in the corner outfield in each of the Tigers' last five games while going 6-for-18 with a solo home run, Vilade will cede his spot on the 26-man active roster to another utility player in Bligh Madris. Unlike Vilade, Madris is a left-handed batter, so the Tigers may have preferred to have Madris on hand as a potential strong-side platoon option.

Tigers' Ryan Vilade: Hits first MLB home run
Vilade went 1-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Saturday's 11-9, 10-inning win over the Dodgers.
Vilade got the start in right field but ended up moving to first base and departed before the wild comeback win ended for the Tigers. The 25-year-old also blasted his first MLB home run in the fifth inning. Vilade got recalled from Triple-A Toledo on Friday, replacing Akil Baddoo on the roster, and the former could carve out a more regular role if he continues to hit, as he's currently batting a robust .294 with an .839 OPS across his first 17 at-bats of the season.

Tigers' Ryan Vilade: Joining big club
The Tigers recalled Vilade from Triple-A Toledo on Friday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.
He'll take Akil Baddoo's spot on the active roster, marking Vilade's first MLB stint since May. The 25-year-old has slashed .286/.367/.470 with nine home runs and 13 stolen bases across 270 plate appearances with Toledo. He should primarily provide outfield depth but could see infield work if needed.

Tigers' Ryan Vilade: Heads back to Triple-A
The Tigers optioned Vilade to Triple-A Toledo on Monday.
Vilade went 2-for-9 at the dish during his brief time in the majors. He's headed back to Toledo, where he should see steady playing time at all three outfield spots.

Tigers' Ryan Vilade: Plates three in team debut
Vilade went 2-for-4 with a walk and three RBI in Tuesday's 11-7 win over the Guardians.
Making his debut with Detroit and first appearance in the majors since 2021, Vilade started in right field and batted seventh. The 25-year-old quickly made an impact, and he could see some more playing time in the short term with Mark Canha (illness) missing Tuesday's contest. However, Vilade will likely shift to a bench role or return to the minors once Canha gets healthy.

Tigers' Ryan Vilade: Making Tigers debut
Vilade is batting seventh and playing right field Tuesday against the Guardians.
Vilade will make his first big league appearance since 2021 after being called up to join Detroit following a hot start to the season at Triple-A Toledo. However, he'll likely have a tough time finding consistent work in a crowded Tigers outfield.

Tigers' Ryan Vilade: Set for promotion
Vilade is expected to have his contract selected from Triple-A Toledo, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Vilade will presumably be promoted in time for Tuesday's game against the Guardians, but the club has yet to provide additional details. The 25-year-old has fared well so far this season for the Mud Hens, hitting .333 with three home runs, 17 RBI, eight stolen bases and 16 runs over 27 games.

Tigers' Ryan Vilade: Sent down to minor-league camp
The Tigers reassigned Vilade to minor-league camp Thursday.
Vilade managed to stick in major-league camp for a while even as he never really had much of a chance to crack the big-league roster. He'll play all over the diamond with Triple-A Toledo.

Tigers' Ryan Vilade: Joins Detroit on MiLB pact
Vilade signed a minor-league contract with the Tigers on Tuesday.
The 24-year-old Vilade will be moving on the third organization of his career after stints with Colorado and Pittsburgh since entering the professional ranks as a second-round draft pick in 2017. Vilade saw his lone big-league action with the Rockies in 2021 but has played almost exclusively at the Triple-A level over the past two seasons. Over 511 plate appearances with the Pirates' Triple-A affiliate in Indianapolis in 2023, Vilade slashed .270/.370/.382 with six home runs and seven stolen bases.

Pirates' Ryan Vilade: Heading to Pittsburgh
Vilade was claimed off waivers by the Pirates on Wednesday.
Vilade made his major-league debut during a brief stint with Colorado in 2021, but he spent the entire 2022 campaign in the minors. He slashed .249/.345/.352 with five homers, 64 runs, 38 RBI and 10 stolen bases over 99 games at Triple-A Albuquerque last year and will likely head to Triple-A Indianapolis once the 2023 season gets underway.

Rockies' Ryan Vilade: Lacking power
Vilade has maintained a .324 wOBA and 83 wRC+ with Triple-A Albuquerque across 249 plate appearances this season.
Vilade's profile has remained very familiar. He has only 13 extra-base hits in an extremely hitter-friendly environment and has paired his .090 ISO with only five stolen bases. The lack of power and speed tools will limit his fantasy impact, though his plate discipline remains very impressive. Vilade has struck out at just a 12.9 percent clip while walking 12.4 percent of the time. The Rockies outfield appears crowded at the moment, but with 767 plate appearances at Albuquerque between 2021 and 2022, Vilade could get the call at some point in the second half of the season.

Rockies' Ryan Vilade: Sent to Albuquerque
The Rockies optioned Vilade to Triple-A Albuquerque on Thursday.
Vilade was one of four players on the Rockies' 40-man roster that was dispatched to the minors Thursday, leaving Colorado with 47 players remaining at MLB camp. One of the top hitting prospects in the organization, Vilade received his first cup of coffee with the big club in September of last season, but it may take an absence of one of the Rockies' four projected everyday corner-infield or corner-outfield players (C.J. Cron, Ryan McMahon, Charlie Blackmon and Kris Bryant) before the 23-year-old gets an extended look in the majors. Vilade will begin the 2022 campaign in Albuquerque, where he slashed .282/.337/.408 with seven home runs and 12 stolen bases across 518 plate appearances a year ago.
