  • Brewers' Jacob Hurtubise: Goes to Brewers on MiLB deal

The Brewers signed Hurtubise to a minor-league contract Tuesday. Hurtubise has managed just a .167/.291/.212 batting line over parts of two seasons during his brief time at the big-league level. He can play all three outfield spots and has displayed good plate discipline in the minors with a 14.6 percent walk rate and 17.4 percent strikeout rate. It's a profile the Brewers have been able to squeeze value out of, but he's likely ticketed for Triple-A Nashville to begin the 2026 season.

  • Mariners' Jacob Hurtubise: Removed from 40-man roster

The Mariners outrighted Hurtubise to Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday. While no longer on the 40-man roster, Hurtubise will remain in the Mariners organization as outfield depth at Tacoma. Hurtubise has spent most of the 2025 season at the Triple-A level, where he's slashed an ugly .145/.325/.179 over 44 contests.

  • Mariners' Jacob Hurtubise: Claimed by Mariners

The Mariners claimed Hurtubise off waivers from the Reds on Tuesday. Hurtubise had been jettisoned from the Reds' 40-man roster, but he'll now get a spot on Seattle's 40-man. The 27-year-old will report to Triple-A Tacoma, where he'll provide experienced outfield depth.

  • Reds' Jacob Hurtubise: Pushed off 40-man

The Reds designated Hurtubise for assignment Saturday. Since being optioned to Triple-A on May 9, Hurtubise has slashed .115/.267/.180 across 76 plate appearances. His poor performance will now cost him his spot on the 40-man roster, and he'll be replaced by Ryan Vilade, who was claimed off waivers from St. Louis on Saturday.

  • Reds' Jacob Hurtubise: Optioned to Triple-A

The Reds optioned Hurtubise to Triple-A Louisville on Friday, Charlie Goldsmith of the Dayton Daily News reports. With Austin Hays (hamstring) back from the 10-day IL and Will Benson recalled from Triple-A, the Reds sent both Hurtubise and Blake Dunn down to Louisville. Hurtubise slashed .083/.267/.083 across 15 plate appearances with Cincinnati.

  • Reds' Jacob Hurtubise: Checks into starting nine

Hurtubise started in left field and went 0-for-4 in Wednesday's 4-3 win over Atlanta. Hurtubise was called up earlier in the week after Tyler Callihan (forearm) was added to the 10-day injured list. This is Hurtubise's second stint with the Reds this season. He was on the Opening Day roster and served mostly as a pinch hitter. In addition to Callihan's injury, the Reds are without outfielders Austin Hays (IL-hamstring) and Jake Fraley (calf, day-to-day).

  • Reds' Jacob Hurtubise: Returns to majors

The Reds recalled Hurtubise from Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday. He's grabbing the roster spot vacated by Tyler Callihan (forearm), who was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday. Hurtubise made the Reds' Opening Day roster but was handed just seven at-bats over nearly three weeks before being sent down. He's unlikely to play much more than that during this stint.

  • Reds' Jacob Hurtubise: Optioned to Triple-A

The Reds optioned Hurtubise to Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday. Hurtubise won an Opening Day roster spot but has played sparingly, managing just one hit in seven at-bats. The 27-year-old is clearing out to make room in the outfield for the return of Austin Hays (calf) from the injured list.

  • Reds' Jacob Hurtubise: Off injured list

Hurtubise (undisclosed) was reinstated from Triple-A Louisville's 7-day injured list Wednesday, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. The 26-year-old has been sidelined for the past two and a half weeks due to an undisclosed injury, but he's now healthy and back on Louisville's active roster. Hurtubise received his first taste of the big leagues earlier this season and struggled to a .185/.297/.241 slash line in 29 games.

  • Reds' Jacob Hurtubise: Taking seat Saturday

Hurtubise is absent from the lineup for Saturday's game in Milwaukee. The left-handed hitter had started the last three contests and each of the past six games versus right-handed pitching. Hurtubise will begin this one on the bench, though, as the Brewers go with a lefty opener and righty bulk reliever. Will Benson is in left field.

  • Reds' Jacob Hurtubise: Odd man out in Friedl's return

Hurtubise is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals. Hurtubise had made starts in the outfield in each of the last eight games and served as the Reds' leadoff man on seven occasions, but he looks set to lose out on an everyday role after Cincinnati reinstated center fielder TJ Friedl (thumb) from the 10-day injured list Wednesday. As a left-handed hitter, Hurtubise won't make for a viable platoon mate for the Reds' three lefty-hitting outfielders (Friedl, Will Benson and Jake Fraley) nor lefty-hitting designated hitter Nick Martini, so it wouldn't be surprising if Hurtubise is sent back to Triple-A Louisville before long if his playing time becomes scarce. The 26-year-old has posted a .582 OPS over 39 plate appearances since getting his first big-league call-up May 13.

  • Reds' Jacob Hurtubise: Leading off again

Hurtubise batted leadoff and went 1-for-2 with a stolen base, an RBI and a run scored in Thursday's 6-4 extra-inning loss to San Diego. After the Padres jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning, Hurtubise made things happen for the Reds in the bottom of the frame. He was hit by a pitch then stole second base before scoring on a Jeimer Candelario triple. This was Hurtubise's third consecutive start as the leadoff batter -- all against right-handers -- and he's been removed for a pinch hitter in all three. He's 3-for-14 with three walks, one stolen base, two RBI and two runs scored over nine games since his callup. Once TJ Friedl (thumb) is back, Hurtubise's run as the leadoff batter, and maybe his time on the big-league roster, will end.

  • Reds' Jacob Hurtubise: Starts in left field

Hurtubise started in left field and went 0-for-2 in Tuesday's 6-2 win over the Diamondbacks. Hurtubise, who was called up from Triple-A Louisville on Monday, made his first MLB start, giving Spencer Steer a break. The 26-year-old Hurtubise was eventually pinch hit for against a left-handed reliever. He's just the second graduate of West Point to reach the major leagues.
