  • Rockies' Tanner Gordon: Moved back to Triple-A

The Rockies optioned Gordon to Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday.

Gordon was called up to make a spot start Wednesday and yielded seven runs in 3.1 innings against the Tigers. He'll return to Albuquerque on Friday, giving way to Austin Gomber (paternity list) on the 26-man roster. Gordon has an 8.65 ERA in 34.1 innings for the Rockies this season.

  • Rockies' Tanner Gordon: Mauled by Tigers

Gordon (0-6) took the loss Wednesday, surrendering seven runs on 10 hits over 3.1 innings as the Rockies fell 7-4 to the Tigers. He struck out one without walking a batter.

Six of the runs came in the first inning, as Gordon served up a solo shot to Riley Greene and a three-run homer to Trey Sweeney before finally escaping the frame. Gordon hadn't pitched in the majors since Aug. 21, and despite all the injuries in the Colorado rotation, this performance doesn't seem likely to buy the right-hander another start. Through 34.1 big-league innings this season, he carries an 8.65 ERA, 1.72 WHIP and 26:6 K:BB.

  • Rockies' Tanner Gordon: Starting Wednesday's game

Gordon will start for the Rockies on Wednesday in Detroit, MLB.com reports.

Gordon will be making a spot start in place of Austin Gomber (personal), who was placed on the paternity list Tuesday. The right-hander holds a 7.55 ERA and 25:6 K:BB over 31 innings covering seven starts with the big club in 2024 but is coming off his best start of the season with Triple-A Albuquerque, having tossed eight shutout frames last Wednesday in Tacoma.

  • Rockies' Tanner Gordon: Recalled from Triple-A

The Rockies recalled Gordon from Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday.

Gordon has posted a 7.55 ERA over seven starts with the big club this season. The 26-year-old looks to be in line to serve in a long-relief role this time around.

  • Rockies' Tanner Gordon: Sent to Triple-A

The Rockies optioned Gordon to Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday.

The right-hander made his seventh start of the season Wednesday against the Nationals and surrendered five runs across eight innings, and he won't stick in the big-league rotation. Gordon has a 7.55 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and 25:6 K:BB across 31 frames in his first taste of the majors this season.

  • Rockies' Tanner Gordon: Remains winless

Gordon (0-5) took the loss Wednesday, coughing up five runs on eight hits and a walk over four innings as the Rockies were downed 6-1 to the Nationals. He struck out two.

The rookie right-hander fell apart in the third inning, giving up three singles before Luis Garcia launched a three-run blast to right-center field. Gordon has been tagged for at least four runs in five of his first seven MLB starts, and he seems likely to lose his rotation spot once Ryan Feltner (shoulder) is ready to return. If Gordon does get another turn, he'll carry a 7.55 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and 25:6 K:BB through 31 innings into a home start early next week against the Marlins.

  • Rockies' Tanner Gordon: Pulled in first inning, takes loss

Gordon (0-4) took the loss Wednesday against the Diamondbacks, allowing four runs (three earned) on three hits and two walks in two-thirds of an inning. He did not record a strikeout.

Gordon failed to make it through a disastrous first inning that included two errors by the Colorado defense. Gordon walked in a run before being relieved by Peter Lambert, who induced a groundout to limit the damage to four runs. The 26-year-old Gordon uncharacteristically struggled with control Wednesday, throwing only 24 of his 44 pitches for strikes, after he'd turned in a 23:3 K:BB in five previous starts this season. The right-hander will look to improve upon his 7.00 ERA and 1.48 WHIP in his next start, currently scheduled for next week against the Nationals.

  • Rockies' Tanner Gordon: Impressive in no-decision

Gordon did not factor into the decision in Friday's win over Atlanta, allowing two runs on six hits and no walks over five innings. He struck out seven.

It looked like the rookie right-hander was in for a long night after allowing a titanic 448-foot solo homer to Marcell Ozuna in the first inning. However, Gordon settled in nicely after that and collected a career-high seven punchouts in an 89-pitch performance. Overall, the 26-year-old has pitched to a 6.15 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 23:3 K:BB across 26.1 innings this season. He lines up to make his next start against the Diamondbacks on the road next week.

  • Rockies' Tanner Gordon: Staying in rotation

Gordon is scheduled to start Friday's game against Atlanta at Coors FIeld.

He'll be making his second straight turn through the Colorado rotation, and Gordon looks like he'll be sticking around for the foreseeable future with Ryan Feltner (shoulder) going on the injured list Thursday and German Marquez (elbow) having been ruled out for the season. Over his first four big-league outings, Gordon has gone 0-3 with a 6.75 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 16:3 K:BB in 21.1 innings.

  • Rockies' Tanner Gordon: Sharp in Saturday's start

Gordon allowed one run on one hit and one walk while striking out four over six innings in a no-decision versus the Padres on Saturday.

Gordon was perfect through four innings, but he put the first two batters aboard in the fifth, and a David Peralta groundout knocked in the tying run. Peter Lambert then allowed two runs in the seventh to spoil the Rockies' chances at a win. This was Gordon's best of four starts this season -- he had allowed at least four runs in each of the other three. He's now at a 6.75 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 16:3 K:BB through 21.1 innings. This was likely enough to earn him another turn through the rotation, though that could change if German Marquez (elbow) doesn't require a rehab assignment.

  • Rockies' Tanner Gordon: Officially recalled for start

The Rockies recalled Gordon from Triple-A Albuquerque ahead of his start Saturday against the Padres.

Gordon hasn't found much success through his first three MLB starts, surrendering 15 earned runs in just 15.1 innings while striking out 12 batters and walking two. Nonetheless, he'll rejoin the Rockies' rotation and presumably remain with the big-league club until German Marquez (elbow) returns from the IL. Jake Bird was optioned to Albuquerque in a corresponding move.

  • Rockies' Tanner Gordon: Rejoining rotation Saturday

Gordon will be called up from Triple-A Albuquerque to start Saturday's game in San Diego.

The Rockies optioned Gordon to Triple-A on Sunday, but because he had served as the club's 27th man in a doubleheader with the Giants a day earlier, he'll be eligible to rejoin the big club in fewer than 15 days. He looks like he'll hold down the No. 5 spot in the Colorado rotation until German Marquez (elbow) is able to return from the injured list. Gordon has made three starts for the Rockies this season, compiling an 8.80 ERA, 1.76 WHIP and 12:2 K:BB in 15.1 innings.

  • Rockies' Tanner Gordon: Heads back to Albuquerque

The Rockies optioned Gordon to Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday.

As expected, Gordon was returned to Triple-A after he was called up to the big club to serve as its 27th man in Saturday's doubleheader with the Giants. He started the second game of the twin bill, giving up four earned runs on nine hits and no walks while striking out five over six innings in a 5-0 loss. Gordon has been dealt a loss in each of his first three big-league starts while producing an 8.80 ERA and 1.76 WHIP in those outings.

  • Rockies' Tanner Gordon: Strikes out five in loss

Gordon (0-3) was the pitcher of record Saturday in the Rockies' 5-0 loss to the Giants in the second game of a doubleheader. He struck out five and allowing four earned runs on nine hits and no walks over six innings.

Gordon got off on the wrong foot, allowing back-to-back hits in both of the first two innings, leading to two early runs coming across for San Francisco. The right-hander would then cruise through the next two frames before once again surrendering back-to-back hits to open the fifth. The right-hander has now taken losses in all three of his starts this season, allowing at least four runs in each outing. On a positive note, he's managed to go six innings in two of those starts and currently holds a 12:2 K:BB on the campaign. Gordon was serving as the Rockies' 27th man for the doubleheader, so he'll likely be optioned back to Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday.

  • Rockies' Tanner Gordon: Serving as 27th man

The Rockies named Gordon as their 27th man for Saturday's doubleheader against the Giants. He'll start Game 2 of the twin bill.

Gordon will temporarily join the Rockies' active roster to start the second game of a twin bill against the Giants, but he will likely be sent back down to Triple-A following the outing. Gordon has started two games for the Rockies this season, pitching to an 0-2 record with a 10.61 ERA across 9.1 innings.

  • Rockies' Tanner Gordon: Slated for start in doubleheader

The Rockies plan to call up Gordon from Triple-A Albuquerque to start the second game of Saturday's doubleheader with the Giants in San Francisco.

The right-hander is likely to be designated as the Rockies' 27th man for the twin bill and will presumably be returned to Albuquerque immediately after his start Saturday. Gordon has previously made two starts for the Rockies, taking the loss in both of those outings while giving up 11 earned runs on 16 hits and two walks while striking out seven over 9.1 innings.

  • Rockies' Tanner Gordon: Sent down to minors

The Rockies optioned Gordon to Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

Gordon was demoted after surrendering four homers while giving up six runs over three-plus innings against the Mets on Friday. The right-hander has yielded a total of 11 earned runs over 9.1 frames across his first two major-league starts and will get a chance to reset at Triple-A. Colorado also placed Nolan Jones (back) on the IL on Saturday while recalling outfielder Sean Bouchard and reliever Angel Chivilli from the minors. Gordon's short-lived spot in the big-league rotation will be assumed by German Marquez (elbow), who is set to return from the injured list to make his season debut Sunday.

  • Rockies' Tanner Gordon: Mauled by Mets

Gordon (0-2) took the loss Friday as the Rockies were downed 7-6 by the Mets, coughing ups six runs on eight hits -- including four home runs -- and two walks over three-plus innings. He struck out three.

The two teams combined for nine long balls on the night, the highest single-game total in the majors this season, and Gordon took the brunt of it. Harrison Bader in particular had the rookie right-hander's number, blasting a second-inning fastball over the fence in left-center field before ripping a hanging slider down the left-field line in the fourth. Gordon has served up six homers in 9.1 innings over his first two big-league starts, and with German Marquez (elbow) on the verge of coming off the IL, Gordon's likely headed back to Triple-A Albuquerque where he's been tagged for nine homers in 33.2 innings.

  • Rockies' Tanner Gordon: Getting another start

Gordon is scheduled to start Friday's game against the Mets at Citi Field.

Gordon was lit it up for five runs on eight hits in his MLB debut this past Sunday against the Royals, but the fact that he pitched into the seventh inning without issuing a walk and while striking out four batters offered some signs of encouragement. The 26-year-old righty may not necessarily be in store for a long-term stay with the big club, but he'll get at least one more turn through the rotation while the Rockies wait for German Marquez (elbow) to complete his rehab assignment before returning from the 60-day injured list.

  • Rockies' Tanner Gordon: Endures up-and-down MLB debut

Gordon (0-1) was the pitcher of record in Sunday's 10-1 loss to the Royals, striking out four over 6.1 innings while allowing five earned runs on eight hits and no walks.

While the 26-year-old's final stat line wasn't especially pretty, Gordon showed plenty of positive signs in his MLB debut. After yielding four runs -- including a three-run home run to Maikel Garcia -- in the second inning, Gordon rebounded by retiring 11 consecutive batters. He was able to pitch into the seventh inning, but was pulled after 78 pitches following MJ Melendez's solo home run and Garcia's bunt single. Assuming Sunday's outing was enough to earn another start, Gordon would be in line to face the Mets in New York next weekend.
