Ross is starting at shortstop Wednesday against the Yankees in place of the injured Kaelen Culpepper (hamstring). He'll see some action at that position while Culpepper is out, and Ross can also handle every position on the diamond other than pitcher and catcher.

The Twins promoted Ross from Triple-A when rosters expanded at the beginning of September, but he's since appeared in only three games and struck out three times in his four at-bats. He'll now return to the minors to make room for Emmanuel Rodriguez, who was recalled from St. Paul in a corresponding move.

Ross is expected to have his contract selected from Triple-A Saint Paul ahead of Tuesday's game against the Tigers, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
Ross is expected to join the Twins as one of the club's September call-ups when rosters expand Tuesday. He's slashing .249/.353/.458 with 15 home runs, 55 RBI, 13 stolen bases and 56 runs in 102 games in his first season at Triple-A and has primarily played third base, shortstop and center field for the Saints in 2026.
