Brewers' Luis Lara: Retreating to bench Wednesday
Lara is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Padres.
Lara will sit for just the second time in nine games while the Brewers roll out a starting outfield of Jackson Chourio, Brandon Lockridge and Jake Bauers from the left to right. Since receiving the call to the big leagues July 7, Lara has shown good plate discipline with a 13.1 percent walk rate and a 19 percent strikeout rate, but he's provided limited fantasy value. Through 26 games, Lara is batting .236 with no home runs, two steals, 11 RBI and nine runs.

Brewers' Luis Lara: Not in Monday's lineup
Lara is out of the lineup for Monday's game versus the Pirates.
Lara has been in a quasi-platoon with Andrew Vaughn lately, getting starts in right field on days that Jake Bauers is at first base. For Monday's series opener, Vaughn will cover first base, while Bauers mans right field.

Brewers' Luis Lara: Drives in three in win
Lara went 1-for-4 with a triple, a walk, three RBI, a stolen base and a run scored in Tuesday's 8-2 win over the Giants.
Lara did a bit of everything in this contest, including showing off some speed. He's gotten on base multiple times in three of his last four games. Through his first 15 major-league games, the outfield prospect is batting .289 with four doubles, one triple, 10 RBI, six runs scored and two steals. He's still looking for his first home run, but he profiled as more of a contact hitter during his time in the minors. Lara is likely to see more time in right field while Jake Bauers is managing pain from a toe fracture.

Brewers' Luis Lara: Sitting again Monday
Lara is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Mets.
Lara will remain on the bench for the second straight game, even after Milwaukee placed Sal Frelick (shoulder) on the injured list Sunday. Rather than Lara, the main beneficiary of Frelick's absence could be Andrew Vaughn. Jake Bauers will start at Frelick's spot in right field for the second day in a row to open up first base for Vaughn. Even though he may remain in more of a part-time role versus right-handed pitching, the switch-hitting Lara should be a regular part of the lineup when the Brewers face lefties.

Brewers' Luis Lara: Left out of lineup Sunday
Lara is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates.
Lara will head to the bench after he went 2-for-6 with a double, two walks and a run while starting both games of Saturday's doubleheader. Though he isn't locked in as a regular in the Milwaukee outfield just yet, the switch-hitting Lara will likely be a mainstay in the lineup against left-handed pitching and should handle at least a part-time role versus righties.

Brewers' Luis Lara: Productive in MLB debut
Lara went 1-for-4 with a walk, a run scored and two RBI in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader sweep of the Cardinals.
Called up for his big-league debut Tuesday when David Hamilton (hamstring) landed on the IL, Lara got the start in center field and batted second in the nightcap, and he made an immediate impact. The 21-year-old switch hitter broke out at Triple-A Nashville this season, posting a .324/.436/.474 slash line over 78 games with 24 steals in 31 attempts and more walks (55) than strikeouts (47), and he's got a clear path to earning a regular spot in the Milwaukee outfield thanks to the seven-year, $31 million contract extension he signed last month.

Brewers' Luis Lara: Batting second in MLB debut
Lara is starting in center field and batting second in Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Cardinals.
The 21-year-old was promoted prior to the start of the twin bill and didn't see the field in Game 1, but he'll fill a marquee spot in the lineup while making his MLB debut in the nightcap. Lara is one of Milwaukee's top prospects and has posted a .910 OPS with nine homers and 24 steals in 78 games at Triple-A Nashville this season.

Brewers' Luis Lara: Promotion official
The Brewers recalled Lara from Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday.
There were some conflicting reports about whether Milwaukee would be promoting the 21-year-old Tuesday while David Hamilton (hamstring) continues to be evaluated, but the top prospect has now officially been called up ahead of the doubleheader in St. Louis. Lara inked a seven-year, $31 million extension with the Brewers in early June and has been an offensive force at Nashville this year with a .324/.436/.474 slash line, nine home runs and 24 steals in 78 games. Milwaukee's starting outfield is currently in good health, so Lara may have to settle for a semi-regular role unless the club is willing to give him a look in right field over Sal Frelick.

Brewers' Luis Lara: Promotion decision not finalized
The Brewers have not yet made a decision on a potential promotion of Lara from Triple-A Nashville, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
A report from Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com earlier Tuesday indicated that Lara would be called up ahead of Tuesday's doubleheader in St. Louis. While that could still happen, the Brewers won't make a decision until the MRI results on David Hamilton's left hamstring are in. Lara has produced a .321/.432/.470 batting line with nine home runs, 24 stolen bases and a 54:48 BB:K over 78 contests with Nashville this season.

Brewers' Luis Lara: Slated for MLB promotion
The Brewers will recall Lara from Triple-A Nashville ahead of Tuesday's doubleheader in St. Louis, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports.
Lara has had a breakout season at Nashville, slashing .321/.432/.470 with nine home runs, 24 stolen bases and a 54:48 BB:K over 78 contests. The switch hitter is primarily a center fielder but has experience at all three outfield spots. Milwaukee's outfield is already relatively crowded, though Lara could eat into the playing time of the struggling Sal Frelick. At minimum, he will likely start against left-handers. Lara is already on the 40-man roster after signing a seven-year, $31 million contract extension in June.

Brewers' Luis Lara: Nets $31 million contract extension
The Brewers agreed to a seven-year, $31 million contract extension with Lara on Tuesday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
The deal includes three club options, potentially locking Lara up through the 2035 season, and it can max out at $79 million. It's another pre-arbitration contract extension completed by the Brewers after they inked Cooper Pratt to an eight-year, $50.75 million contract extension in April. Lara entered the 2026 season without much hype but has particularly broken through from a power perspective, slashing .338/.447/.500 with seven home runs, 18 stolen bases and a 39:32 BB:K over 56 games with Triple-A Nashville. The 21-year-old will need to be added to the 40-man roster once the extension is official, which clears a potential hurdle to Lara being promoted to the majors. Lara could take over as the Brewers' primary center fielder at some point this summer.

Brewers' Luis Lara: Power breakout at Triple-A
Lara is slashing .367/.456/.551 with two home runs, eight steals and a 6:8 K:BB in 13 games for Triple-A Nashville.
Lara is known for his excellent speed and outfield defense, and while he has been a productive hitter while being young for his levels, his power has always been well below-average. This year, however, Lara has a .184 ISO after never logging an ISO over .087 in a full-season league from 2023 through 2025. His 103.6 mph max exit velocity is still below average, but his 44.2 percent hard-hit rate is strong for a 21-year-old at Triple-A with his defensive tools. This could just be a small-sample fluke, but if Lara continues to produce across the board offensively, it will only be a matter of time before he's up with the big club.
