  • Nationals' Joe La Sorsa: Optioned to Triple-A

La Sorsa was optioned to Triple-A Rochester on Thursday, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports. La Sorsa holds a 5.02 ERA and 24:8 K:BB over 28.2 innings this season for the Rays and Nationals. He's being sent out to make room for Thaddeus Ward's (shoulder) return from the injured list.

  • Nationals' Joe La Sorsa: Back in majors

The Nationals recalled La Sorsa from Triple-A Rochester on Saturday, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports. With MacKenzie Gore (finger) headed for the injured list, La Sorsa will come up from the minors to give Washington's bullpen some extra depth. La Sorsa holds a 6.98 ERA through 19.1 innings since joining the Nationals in June, and he will likely be limited to low-leverage outings while with the major-league club.

Washington optioned La Sorsa to Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports. La Sorsa has posted a rough 6.98 ERA in 19.1 innings of relief this season at the major-league level and will head back to the farm as starter MacKenzie Gore returns from bereavement leave.

  • Nationals' Joe La Sorsa: Recalled to Washington

The Nationals recalled La Sorsa from Triple-A Rochester on Thursday, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports. La Sorsa will come up from the minors to fill MacKenzie Gore's spot on the roster after Gore was placed on the bereavement list Thursday. The 25-year-old lefty has put up a 5.66 ERA and 1.31 WHIP across 20.2 innings in the majors and will simply add depth to the Nats' bullpen while Gore is out.

  • Nationals' Joe La Sorsa: Collects first big-league win

La Sorsa (1-0) picked up the win in Sunday's come-from-behind victory over the A's, giving up one hit and striking out four over two scoreless innings. The 25-year-old southpaw entered the game in a low-leverage situation in the eighth with the Nationals down 7-2, but a six-run rally in the bottom of the ninth handed him his first win in the majors. La Sorsa has been scored upon only once in 10 appearances since the All-Star break, posting a 2.92 ERA, 0.65 WHIP and 13:2 K:BB through 12.1 innings over that stretch, but his usage puts a firm cap on any potential fantasy utility he might have.

  • Nationals' Joe La Sorsa: Moves up to big leagues

The Nationals recalled La Sorsa from Triple-A Rochester ahead of Wednesday's game against the Cardinals, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports. He'll be joining the big-league bullpen as a replacement for Carl Edwards, who was placed on the 15-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation. La Sorsa made a pair of relief appearances in the majors with the Rays earlier this season, but he'll be joining the Nationals for the first time since Washington claimed him off waivers June 8.

  • Nationals' Joe La Sorsa: Claimed off waivers by Nats

The Nationals claimed La Sorsa off waivers from the Rays on Thursday, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports. La Sorsa was designated for assignment by Tampa Bay last weekend after making two relief appearances -- his first career appearances at the major-league level. The 25-year-old left-hander will report to the Nats' Triple-A affiliate in Rochester.

  • Rays' Joe LaSorsa: Promotion official

The Rays selected LaSorsa's contract from Triple-A Durham on Sunday. In order to clear room for LaSorsa on the 40-man roster and the 26-man active roster, the Rays designated right-hander Chris Muller for assignment and optioned right-hander Trevor Kelley to Triple-A. Over his nine outings (three starts) with Durham this season spanning 21 innings, LaSorsa pitched to a 3.86 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 13:8 K:BB. He should work as a multi-inning option out of the bullpen while he's up with the Rays.
