  • Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Homers in three-RBI effort

Wilson went 2-for-5 with a home run, a double and three total RBI in Friday's extra-inning win over the Angels. Wilson laced an RBI single in the third inning before launching a two-run homer in the seventh to cut into the Athletics' deficit in what ultimately turned into a thrilling comeback win. Since returning from the injured list June 12 following a dislocated left shoulder, the shortstop has gone 7-for-27 (.259) with a homer, two doubles, seven RBI and four runs scored while reaching safely in all seven games. Overall, the 24-year-old is slashing .287/.315/.404 with four homers, 10 doubles, 26 RBI, 22 runs and two stolen bases across 46 contests.

  • Athletics' Jacob Wilson: On bench Sunday

Wilson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rockies. The 24-year-old returned from the injured list Friday and will receive a day off after going 1-for-7 with a walk, two RBI and one run in his first two games back from a dislocated left shoulder. With Wilson on the bench, Alika Williams will take over at shortstop and bat ninth in Sunday's series finale.

  • Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Beginning rehab assignment

Wilson (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Las Vegas on Saturday, Jason Burke of Roundtable.io reports. Wilson has been sidelined by a partial left shoulder dislocation since mid-May, but he's now been given the green light to begin testing his shoulder in a competitive setting. The A's haven't said exactly how many minor-league games they plan to have the 24-year-old play, but he figures to come off the injured list sometime next week.

  • Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Resumes baseball activities

Wilson (shoulder) has begun a hitting progression and also resumed playing catch, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports. He will also begin fielding grounders this week. It's a big step forward for Wilson as he works his way back from a left shoulder subluxation, but there remains no timetable for his return to the active roster. With Wilson sidelined, Darell Hernaiz has been holding down shortstop for the Athletics.

  • Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Yet to resume baseball activities

Wilson (shoulder) remains in the strengthening and stabilization portion of his rehab, Jason Burke of SI.com reports. Wilson suffered a left shoulder subluxation a little over a week ago and is still in the early stages of the rehab process. Once the Athletics are satisfied with the strengthening work Wilson has done on his shoulder, he will be cleared to resume baseball activities. There is no timetable for Wilson's return to the active roster. With Wilson sidelined, Darell Hernaiz has been filling in at shortstop.

  • Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Out with shoulder subluxation

The Athletics placed Wilson on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a left shoulder subluxation. Wilson injured the shoulder while diving for a ball during Sunday's game against the Orioles. A subluxation is a partial dislocation, so Wilson's absence could be an extended one. Per Martin Gallegos of MLB.com, Wilson will go through exercises to strengthen and stabilize the shoulder before he's cleared for baseball activities. Darell Hernaiz should see the lion's share of playing time at shortstop for the A's while Wilson is out.

  • Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Exits with apparent shoulder issue

Wilson was removed from Sunday's game at Baltimore due to an apparent left shoulder injury, Jason Burke of SI.com reports. Wilson sustained the injury in the bottom of the fifth inning on a dive to his left, and he was unable to finish the frame. The 24-year-old went 1-for-2 with a single prior to exiting the contest. Wilson should be considered day-to-day until the Athletics update his status.

  • White Sox's Seranthony Dominguez: Secures fourth save

Dominguez picked up the save Sunday against Athletics. He allowed no hits, a walk and hit a batter while striking out one over a scoreless inning. Dominguez allowed some traffic but ultimately shut the door with the tying run at the plate, as Jacob Wilson popped out to center field to secure the win for the White Sox. It marked the hard-throwing right-hander's fourth save of the season, though his 5.63 ERA and 1.75 WHIP with a 10:8 K:BB across eight innings highlight that the 31-year-old has plenty of room to improve in 2026. In nine outings this season, he has held the opponent scoreless in seven of them while allowing multiple runs in the other two.

  • Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Swats second homer in win

Wilson went 2-for-6 with a solo home run and two runs scored in Saturday's 7-6 extra-innings win over the White Sox. After going homer-less in the first 17 games of the season, Wilson has now gone deep in two of the last four contests after he took an Erick Fedde cutter over the wall in the second inning. Wilson hit just .196 across the first 12 games this season but is 12-for-25 (.480) over his last eight contests. He has six multi-hit games in that span and is now slashing .256/.264/.360 with two homers, 10 RBI, nine runs scored, one stolen base and a 1:11 BB:K across 87 trips to the plate.

  • Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Drives in pair of runs

Wilson went 2-for-4 with a two-run double during Tuesday's 5-2 win over Atlanta. Wilson's ground-rule double in the second inning brought Andy Ibanez and Lawrence Butler home to give the Athletics a 3-1 lead. Wilson has logged two hits in two of his last three outings, though he's gone 0-for-13 with four strikeouts in his other three appearances of the regular season. He's looking to build off a strong 2025 campaign in which he slashed .311/.355/.444 with five steals (on seven attempts), 13 home runs and 63 RBI across 523 plate appearances.

  • Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Signs seven-year, $70M extension

The Athletics signed Wilson to a seven-year, $70 million contract extension Friday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports. The deal includes a club option for 2033. Wilson finished runner-up to teammate Nick Kurtz in the American League Rookie of the Year voting in 2025 after slashing .311/.355/.444 with 13 home runs, five stolen bases and a 27:39 BB:K over 125 contests in his first full major-league season. The 23-year-old's upside is capped due to his lack of power and mediocre defense at shortstop, but Wilson has some of the best contact skills in the game. It's a contract that should turn out to be very team-friendly as long as he stays healthy.

  • Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Working on bulking up

Wilson said earlier this month that adding strength has "been the main focus for the last couple of offseasons now," Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports. Wilson showed a little more pop than expected in 2025, slugging 13 home runs. Power is considered the weakest part of his offensive game, though, so he's working on adding a little bulk this winter. Still, fantasy managers should consider it a bonus if they get double-digit home runs out of Wilson again in 2026, as he is most likely to provide an elite batting average but not much else.

  • Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Three more hits in loss

Wilson went 3-for-4 with a double in Tuesday's 6-0 loss to the Red Sox. Wilson has logged four games of three hits over his last nine contests. He was responsible for the Athletics' lone extra-base hit Tuesday, which was his first since a Sept. 1 double versus the Cardinals. The shortstop has a .319/.360/.451 slash line with 12 home runs, 56 RBI, 55 runs scored, five stolen bases and 21 doubles over 110 contests. While he doesn't walk a lot with a 5.2 percent walk rate, his 7.6 percent strikeout rate has enabled him to remain effective throughout the season through pure contact skills.

  • Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Resting up Wednesday

Wilson isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game against Detroit. Wilson has gone 6-for-20 with a pair of homers, eight RBI and four runs scored in five games since his return from the injured list. The A's will give him a chance to rest Wednesday while Darell Hernaiz moves to shortstop, giving Zack Gelof a start at the keystone.

  • Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Activated from IL

The Athletics activated Wilson (forearm) from the 10-day injured list, and he will start at shortstop and bat fifth against the Mariners on Friday. The 23-year-old will return to the majors after fully recovering from a fractured left forearm that landed him on the IL in late July. He appeared in four games for Triple-A Reno during his rehab assignment and went 3-for-14 with a solo homer and two additional runs scored. Max Schuemann was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move.

  • Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Likely to return this weekend

Wilson (forearm) is likely to be activated from the injured list in time for series in Seattle that begins Friday, MLB.com reports. Wilson is hitting .214 (3-for-14) with a home run in four games during his rehab assignment. If he doesn't have a setback Thursday, there's a good chance he'll return to the A's lineup Friday.

  • Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Goes deep in rehab game

Wilson (forearm) went 1-for-3 with a solo home run with Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday. Wilson logged seven innings Tuesday and launched a solo shot in his second plate appearance in the third inning. The shortstop has gone 3-for-11 with a double and a homer since starting his rehab assignment Saturday at Triple-A Las Vegas for a fractured left forearm. While there's still no official return date, the standout rookie isn't expected to need much more time on the farm before rejoining the Athletics.

  • Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Cleared for rehab assignment

Wilson (forearm) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Las Vegas on Saturday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports. Wilson was cleared for full baseball activities earlier this week and is now ready to test things out in a game setting. The rookie shortstop has been shelved since late July with a fractured left forearm. Because Wilson has only been sidelined for a few weeks, his rehab assignment should be brief.

  • Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Playing catch and running

Wilson (forearm) has been playing catch and running but has yet to be cleared for a hitting progression, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports. Wilson hasn't played in nearly two weeks as he recovers from a fractured left forearm. There is no timetable for the rookie shortstop's return to action, but his status should become clearer once he's ready to ramp up his hitting. With Wilson sidelined, Darell Hernaiz has been handling shortstop for the Athletics of late.

  • Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Placed on injured list

The Athletics placed Wilson on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a fractured left forearm, retroactive to Saturday. Wilson sat out the Athletics' last three games due to what was initially described as a bruised hand that he had been playing through since getting hit by a pitch before the All-Star break. Now that his injury has been revealed to be a forearm fracture, he'll land on the IL and receive time to recover properly. Darell Hernaiz was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas in a corresponding move to replenish the big club's infield depth, though Max Schuemann projects as the likely choice to take over as the Athletics' primary shortstop.
