  • Diamondbacks' Tommy Troy: Sent to injured list

The Diamondbacks placed Troy (shoulder) on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a sprained right AC joint. The move is retroactive to July 12 after Troy suffered the injury in Arizona's 9-2 win over the Dodgers the previous day. The rookie outfielder has slashed .223/.299/.364 with four homers, nine RBI, 22 runs scored, one stolen base and a 13:31 BB:K across 134 plate appearances since making his big-league debut May 24.

  • Diamondbacks' Tommy Troy: Set for MRI

Troy (shoulder) will undergo an MRI on Monday, Brian Murphy of MLB.com reports. Troy was forced to miss the final contest of the team's three-game sweep of the Dodgers on Sunday while nursing a right shoulder bruise that he suffered Saturday. The 24-year-old will now undergo additional imaging to determine the severity of his injury. With the All-Star break beginning Monday, Troy could avoid missing any additional action moving forward if the MRI comes back clean.

  • Diamondbacks' Tommy Troy: Sitting for series finale

Troy (shoulder) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers. Ryan Waldschmidt will receive the start in center field while Arizona gives Troy some extended time to recover from the shoulder contusion he suffered during Saturday's 9-2 win. Manager Torey Lovullo said after the game that Troy wouldn't require imaging on his shoulder, so the rookie outfielder is expected to be good to go coming out of the All-Star break.

  • Diamondbacks' Tommy Troy: No imaging, deemed day-to-day

Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said after Saturday's 9-2 win over the Dodgers that Troy is day-to-day and won't require imaging on his bruised right shoulder, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports. Troy exited in the fifth inning after crashing into the center-field wall following a catch. The rookie said he felt a "sharp pain" in his right shoulder and indicated that he will see how he feels Sunday before the Diamondbacks decide on his availability for the series finale with the Dodgers. Ryan Waldschmidt (hand) is slated to start in center field in Sunday's contest, so Troy probably won't be included in the lineup even if he's feeling capable of playing.

  • Diamondbacks' Tommy Troy: Diagnosed with shoulder contusion

The Diamondbacks announced that Troy was removed from Saturday's game against the Dodgers due to a right shoulder contusion. Troy was lifted in the fifth inning after crashing into the center-field wall while completing a catch. The Diamondbacks haven't provided word on the severity of Troy's injury, so he can be viewed as day-to-day heading into Sunday's series finale. Troy went 0-for-1 with a walk before exiting the contest.

  • Diamondbacks' Tommy Troy: Exits Saturday with possible injury

Troy was removed in the fifth inning of Saturday's game against the Dodgers after running into the center field wall and appearing to hurt his right shoulder, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports. Troy made a nice catch on a flyball hit by Teoscar Hernandez but subsequently rammed his shoulder into the outfield wall. The rookie appeared to be in some pain, and he was ultimately replaced in the outfield by Jorge Barrosa. An update on Troy will presumably be shared after he's examined by the Diamondbacks' training staff.

  • Diamondbacks' Tommy Troy: On bench Tuesday

Troy is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Padres. Troy will give way to Tim Tawa in center field after occupying the position in the Diamondbacks' previous five contests. Since getting the call to the big leagues May 23, Troy has been a near-everyday player for Arizona but hasn't been a strong source of fantasy value. Through his first 36 games in the majors, Troy has scored 20 runs, but his production in other categories has been severely lacking (.221 average, three home runs, one stolen base, seven RBI).

  • Diamondbacks' Tommy Troy: Left out of lineup Tuesday

Troy is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Giants. Arizona will go with Jorge Barrosa in center field while Troy receives his first day off since June 19. Troy had started in the Diamondbacks' previous eight games, slashing .179/.207/.321 with one home run, four runs and three RBI over that stretch. His last five starts came in center, and he looks set to receive most of the playing time at that position with Ryan Waldschmidt back in the minors and with Jordan Lawlar (hamstring) likely out until at least late July.

  • Diamondbacks' Tommy Troy: Sticking in center field

Troy started in center field and went 1-for-3 with a run scored in Monday's 5-4 win over San Francisco. Troy singled and scored on Geraldo Perdomo's bases-clearing double in the fifth inning. It was the seventh consecutive start in center field for Troy, who's made a quick transition from left field since Jordan Lawlar (hamstring) was felled by injury. The Diamondbacks also have Jorge Barrosa, who was a late defensive replacement there Monday, but Troy's bat won out and moved him to the top of the depth chart.

  • Diamondbacks' Tommy Troy: Moves to center field

Troy started in center field and went 0-for-3 with a walk in Tuesday's 4-3 win over St. Louis. The Diamondbacks have rotated bodies in center field since Jordan Lawlar (hamstring) landed on the injured list. It was Troy's turn Tuesday after Jorge Barrosa and Tim Tawa took turns the last two days. Of the three, Troy has been the most impactful batter and could be the primary center fielder while Lawlar heals. Troy had mainly defended left field, but that's not a full-time option any longer with Lourdes Gurriel back from injury.

  • Diamondbacks' Tommy Troy: Homers in loss

Troy started in left field and went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's 3-2 loss to St. Louis. Troy crushed a fastball 444 feet to dead center field in the seventh inning, his third homer in 25 games. This was the third consecutive start in left field for Troy, who is in line for a regular role in starting lineups and may eventually see time in center field following the injury to Jordan Lawlar (hamstring). Lourdes Gurriel, who normally starts in left field and recently returned from a stint on the injured list due to a hamstring issue, operated as the DH for the second time in the last three contests.

  • Diamondbacks' Tommy Troy: Needs work to learn CF

Troy will work with Diamondbacks outfielders coach Dave McKay to learn defending center field, Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports reports. Troy started the last two games in left field, while Jorge Barrosa replaced the injured Jordan Lawlar (hamstring) in center field, but Troy is considered the better hitter of the two. While he's played some center field in the upper minors and for Arizona, Troy is more comfortable in left. Given that left fielder Lourdes Gurriel is back from injury, finding a home for Troy in center field makes sense.

  • Diamondbacks' Tommy Troy: Enters for injured teammate

Troy entered Friday's game as a pinch runner after Jordan Lawlar (hamstring) was removed in the eighth inning. The former did not register a plate appearance but scored a run and finished Arizona's 9-5 win over Minnesota in left field. Lawlar, who has been the primary center fielder since coming off the injured list earlier this month, will undergo imaging Saturday and could end up on the IL again, per Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports. Troy has played only in left field since being called up to Arizona but has center-field experience in the minors. If Lawlar misses time, Troy or Jorge Barrosa could defend center field.

  • Diamondbacks' Tommy Troy: Taking seat Friday

Troy isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against the Twins, Jack Sommers of SI.com reports. Troy will get a breather during Friday's series opener after going 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored during Thursday's contest. His absence will put Lourdes Gurriel in left field, giving LuJames Groover a start as Arizona's DH.

  • Diamondbacks' Tommy Troy: Clubs first homer

Troy went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Monday's 4-1 win over the Dodgers. Troy got the Diamondbacks on the board in the sixth inning, cranking a solo shot into the left-field stands for his first big-league homer and RBI. Called up May 23 in the wake of Lourdes Gurriel (hamstring) landing on the injured list, Troy has seen regular opportunities in left field and is making the most of them, slashing .318/.400/.545 with three extra-base hits and seven runs across 25 plate appearances. The 24-year-old's positional versatility should help him maintain a roster spot and compete for playing time even when Gurriel returns to health.

  • Diamondbacks' Tommy Troy: Doubles up in MLB debut

Troy started in left field and went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored in Sunday's 9-1 win over Colorado. Troy, who made his MLB debut Sunday, doubled and scored in the second and sixth innings. He was called up from Triple-A Reno when the Diamondbacks placed left fielder Lourdes Gurriel (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list. Troy joins a group of potential fill-ins that includes Jorge Barrosa and Tim Tawa, but manager Torey Lovullo indicated that Troy will get plenty of opportunities while Gurriel is out, per Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic.

  • Diamondbacks' Tommy Troy: Returning to High-A lineup

High-A Hillsboro reinstated Troy (hamstring) from the 7-day injured list Monday. Troy will rejoin the High-A club after he went 7-for-23 with a triple, three doubles, five RBI and three runs over his seven rehab games in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League. The 22-year-old shortstop had been on the shelf since April 26 with a left hamstring strain.

  • Diamondbacks' Tommy Troy: Tracking toward mid-June return

Troy (hamstring) has taken live at-bats, but the organization is being conservative with his running program, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports. Troy, who landed on High-A Hillsboro's 7-day injured list April 26, is tracking toward a mid-June return, according to Diamondbacks farm director Shaun Larkin. Before straining his left hamstring, Troy appeared in 12 games for Hillsboro and slashed .184/.231/.286 with one home run and five stolen bases.

  • Diamondbacks' Tommy Troy: Out with hamstring strain

Troy will miss 4-to-6 weeks at High-A Hillsboro with a left hamstring strain, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports. Lauded as one of the best prospects in Arizona's farm system, Troy has slashed .184/.231/.286 across 52 plate appearances in High-A to begin the season. If the 22-year-old infielder is able to bounce back at the plate once he returns from his injury in late May or early June, he could earn a promotion to Double-A Amarillo by the end of the season.

  • Diamondbacks' Tommy Troy: Undergoes surgery

Troy underwent surgery for a fractured foot last week, Theo Mackie of the Arizona Republic reports. Troy showed up in the dugout at Chase Field on Tuesday wearing a walking boot on his left foot. The 21-year-old shortstop, who was selected with the 12th overall pick this summer, said he originally hurt the foot in March when he was hit by a pitch but played through the injury. Troy added that stitches are set to be removed in two weeks and expects a full offseason of training. He hit .394/.478/.699 this year at Stanford, then slashed .271/.374/.469 in 27 games between the Arizona Complex League and High-A Hillsboro.
