White Sox's Kyle Teel: Part of return for Crochet
The White Sox acquired Teel, Braden Montgomery, Chase Meidroth and Wikelman Gonzalez from the Red Sox on Wednesday in exchange for Garrett Crochet, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
A first-round pick in the 2023 First-Year Player Draft, Teel batted .288/.386/.433 with 13 home runs and 12 stolen bases over 112 games between Double-A Portland and Triple-A Worcester in 2024. He'll turn 23 in February and could take over as the White Sox's starting catcher sooner rather than later, although fellow catching prospect Edgar Quero is also close to being major-league ready.

Red Sox's Kyle Teel: Summoned to Triple-A
The Red Sox promoted Teel from Double-A Portland to Triple-A Worcester on Sunday, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.
Teel had produced a .294 average with 11 home runs, 59 RBI, 64 runs scored and nine stolen bases over 320 at-bats in 83 games with Portland. He will look to keep it up at the Triple-A level, where he'll also be joined by shortstop Marcelo Mayer and outfielder Roman Anthony.

Red Sox's Kyle Teel: Using whole field at Double-A
Teel has a .262/.367/.408 slash line with three home runs, one steal and a 27.5 percent strikeout rate in 27 games for Double-A Portland.
He has been 26 percent better than the average Eastern League hitter, and it's worth noting that the park factors in Portland and the Eastern League in general favor pitchers over hitters. Teel's 21.7 percent hard-hit rate is subpar, and he's hitting more balls to the opposite field (40 percent) than to the pull side (38.6 percent), so Teel remains a hit-over-power prospect.

Red Sox's Kyle Teel: Could reach majors in 2023
Teel could make an impact at the big-league level in 2023, Peter Abraham of the Boston Globe reports.
That seems far-fetched considering Teel -- the organization's first-round draft pick in 2023 -- played just 26 games as a professional during his first season, including nine at Double-A Portland. In the past, the Red Sox have been conservative when it comes to promoting talent, and Abraham notes newly minted chief baseball officer Craig Breslow seems to carry a similar approach. The 21-year-old Teel was impressive in his first pro season, batting .363/.483/.495, but he'll likely need to garner much more real experience and prove himself at Triple-A Worcester before reaching Boston.

Red Sox's Kyle Teel: Headed to Double-A
Teel has been promoted by the Red Sox from High-A Greenville to Double-A Portland, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.
The No. 14 overall pick in the 2023 Draft, Teel played three games in rookie ball before hitting .377/.485/.453 in 14 contests for Greenville to earn a quick rise to Double-A. Teel played some outfield in college at Virginia but has been used exclusively at catcher so far in the Red Sox system.
