Brewers' Trevor Megill: Side no longer an issue
Megill (oblique) gave up one hit and struck out two batters during a scoreless inning Wednesday against the Athletics.
Megill had been unavailable out of the bullpen earlier in the week due to oblique tightness, but a few days of rest were all he needed to return to full health. The 32-year-old reliever owns a 4.50 ERA and 1.13 WHIP through 24 frames this season, but he's given up just two runs and struck out 12 batters in his last nine innings.

Brewers' Trevor Megill: Managing side tightness
Megill wasn't available to pitch in Monday's game against the Athletics due to oblique tightness, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Megill is slated to play catch before Tuesday's contest, and if all goes well, he's expected to be available to pitch. The 32-year-old gave up two earned runs during his last outing Friday against the Rockies to increase his ERA to 4.70 through 23 frames, though he still boasts a career-best 1.62 FIP.

Brewers' Trevor Megill: Unavailable Monday with soreness
Brewers manager Pat Murphy said after Monday's extra-innings win over the Athletics that Megill was unavailable to pitch in the game due to "discomfort," Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Murphy did not offer any additional details regarding Megill's injury. Megill did battle a flexor strain in his right arm during the second half last season and was given a PRP injection over the winter, though there's no indication at this point that this is a recurrence of that injury. Abner Uribe is the favorite for saves in the Brewers' bullpen for as long as Megill is unavailable.

Brewers' Trevor Megill: Earns win despite blown save
Megill (1-2) earned the win after blowing a save in Friday's 9-7 extra-inning win over the Rockies, allowing two runs on three hits and one walk with one strikeout in the ninth inning.
Megill was summoned to protect a two-run lead in the ninth inning but coughed it up before escaping in a 5-5 tie, ultimately picking up the win after the Brewers scored four runs in the top of the 10th. It was a discouraging outing for the 32-year-old, as he entered the contest having converted four straight saves during a stretch of seven scoreless appearances dating back to May 15. For the year, he's 6-for-8 in save chances with a 4.70 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 29:7 K:BB across 23 innings.

Brewers' Trevor Megill: Locks down save No. 8
Megill secured the save Sunday against the Astros, striking out two in a clean ninth inning.
It's worth noting Abner Uribe picked up a hold in a spotless eighth inning, as the pendulum in Milwaukee's closer committee could be swinging back in Megill's favor. Both hard-throwing right-handers figure to continue splitting ninth-inning work in some capacity, but Megill has nailed down each of the club's past three save opportunities. Through 21 innings, Megill has a 4.29 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 27:6 K:BB while converting eight of his nine save chances.

Brewers' Trevor Megill: Picks up seventh save
Megill picked up the save in Friday's 5-4 extra-inning win over the Astros, recording two strikeouts in a hitless and scoreless 10th inning.
After Abner Uribe pitched a scoreless bottom of the ninth inning in a 4-4 game, Megill came on to pick up his seventh save of the season after Milwaukee pushed across one run in the top of the frame on a Brice Turang sac fly. Megill has now converted his last four save chances and has surrendered just two earned runs across his last 15 appearances dating back to April 16. He's lowered his ERA from 14.40 to 4.50 during that span and has a 25:6 K:BB across 20 innings this season.

Brewers' Trevor Megill: Notches sixth save
Megill gave up a hit and struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning Wednesday to record his sixth save of the season in a 2-1 win over the Cardinals.
The right-hander fired nine of 13 pitches for strikes to convert his second save chance in the last two weeks, although a Masyn Winn single and stolen base made things interesting. After a bumpy start to the season, Megill has been tagged for earned runs in only two of his last 14 appearances, posting a 1.29 ERA, 0.71 WHIP and 18:2 K:BB over 14 innings during that stretch while producing three saves and six holds. Despite the turnaround, manager Pat Murphy appears content to let Megill share the closing load with Abner Uribe for the time being rather than reclaim the role on a full-time basis.

Brewers' Trevor Megill: Collects fifth save
Megill struck out one batter in a perfect ninth inning to earn the save in Friday's 3-2 win over the Twins.
Megill's ninth-inning opportunity came after manager Pat Murphy elected to use Abner Uribe in the eighth. Both relievers have struggled with consistency this season and own an ERA above 4.60, so it's unlikely the Brewers are ready to abandon their closer-by-committee approach.

Brewers' Trevor Megill: Picks up second hold Tuesday
Megill struck out one in a perfect sixth inning Tuesday to record his second hold of the season in a 12-4 win over the Tigers.
The Brewers were ahead 3-1 when the right-hander took the mound, but it was still far from the ninth-inning usage Megill is used to seeing. His performance was encouraging, as he fired 10 of 14 pitches for strikes, but his 9.00 ERA, 1.63 WHIP and 10:4 K:BB through eight innings on the season remain sketchy. For now, Abner Uribe appears to be the top closing option for manager Pat Murphy, at least until Megill puts together a sustained run of success.
