Diamondbacks' Nick Heath: Outrighted to Triple-A
Heath cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Reno on Wednesday, Zach Buchanan of The Athletic reports.
Heath was designated for assignment Saturday but will remain in the organization going forward. He's hit .143 with three runs and an RBI in 35 at-bats with the major-league club but has slashed .289/.385/.434 with two homers, 14 runs, 11 RBI and seven stolen bases across 19 Triple-A contests this year.

Diamondbacks' Nick Heath: Designated for assignment
Heath was designated for assignment by the Diamondbacks on Saturday.

Diamondbacks' Nick Heath: Sent down Tuesday
Heath was optioned to Triple-A Reno on Tuesday.
Heath made just one start after he was recalled in late June, and he went 0-for-4 with four strikeouts during his time in the majors. He should see more consistent playing time at Triple-A Reno, while outfielder Stuart Fairchild was recalled by the Diamondbacks in a corresponding move.

Diamondbacks' Nick Heath: Moves up depth chart
Heath entered Thursday's win over the Giants as a defensive replacement in center field.
Heath has had just one pinch-hit at-bat and four appearances as a defensive replacement since being recalled June 23. After Arizona traded Tim Locastro to the Yankees on Thursday, Heath moved up the depth chart and could get the occasional start in center field while Ketel Marte (hamstring) remains sidelined. Pavin Smith is the primary fill-in for Marte, but Locastro made a couple of starts in center this past week, so it's logical Heath could see more opportunities at the dish. Heath is batting .156/.250/.188 over 36 plate appearances for the Diamondbacks.

Diamondbacks' Nick Heath: Hitless in start
Heath started in center field and went 0-for-3 with three strikeouts in Friday's 11-4 loss to the Giants.
This was Heath's first start since being called up late June. After the Diamondbacks traded Tim Locastro to the Yankees on Thursday, Heath moved up the depth chart in center, so the outfielder may get some spot starts while Ketel Marte (hamstring) on the injured list. Heath is 5-for-35 with 15 strikeouts since coming to Arizona in April. He had better numbers in the minors when getting more consistent playing time, but it looks like he'll have to make do with spotty usage in the majors.

Diamondbacks' Nick Heath: Recalled by Diamondbacks
Heath was recalled by the Diamondbacks on Wednesday.
Heath appeared in 13 games for Arizona earlier in the year and hit .161 with three runs and an RBI. He's been more successful with Triple-A Reno, as he's slashed .297/.386/.446 with two homers, 14 runs, 11 RBI and seven stolen bases across 18 contests with the Aces. The 27-year-old isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Brewers, and he should serve mainly as a depth option going forward. Right-hander Stefan Crichton was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

Diamondbacks' Nick Heath: Returns to majors
Heath was called up by the Diamondbacks on Friday.
Heath hit .192/.276/.231 in 29 plate appearances during his previous stint on the roster, so he'll likely be limited to bench duty. Asdrubal Cabrera (hamstring) hit the injured list in a corresponding move.

Diamondbacks' Nick Heath: Moves down to minors
The Diamondbacks optioned Heath to Triple-A Reno on Monday.
In light of its mounting injuries in the outfield, Arizona acquired Heath from Kansas City on April 17 and wasted no time ushering him into the lineup. Heath recorded three hits in his team debut a day after his acquisition, but things went downhill thereafter, as he managed only two hits in 22 at-bats over his next nine games. The 27-year-old had already been starting to lose time in center field to Pavin Smith in recent days, and Tim Locastro's (finger) returned from the 10-day injured list Monday ultimately spelled the end of Heath's time on the active roster. He'll head to Reno before the affiliate begins its season Tuesday.

Diamondbacks' Nick Heath: Playing time drying up
Heath will start in center field and bat eighth Sunday against the Rockies.
Though he'll be in the starting nine as Arizona wraps up its series with Colorado, Heath's time as the Diamondbacks' everyday center fielder could be over. He was on the bench six times in the previous nine games, as manager Torey Lovullo has seemingly warmed up to the idea of using Pavin Smith as his top option in center field while Ketel Marte (hamstring) and Tim Locastro (finger) are on the shelf. While Heath offers a defensive upgrade over Smith, his .462 OPS over his first 25 plate appearances with Arizona have made it difficult for Lovullo to justify trotting him out in the lineup on a regular basis.

Diamondbacks' Nick Heath: Sits for second game of twin bill
Heath is out of the lineup for the second game of Sunday's doubleheader with Atlanta.
The Diamondbacks will give a couple of their lefty hitters a breather for the second game of the twin bill, as Heath and Kole Calhoun will head to the bench with southpaw Drew Smyly on the hill for Atlanta. Heath went 0-for-2 with a walk while playing all seven innings in center field in Arizona's 5-0 win in Game 1.

Diamondbacks' Nick Heath: Held out of starting lineup
Heath entered Thursday's game off the bench and went 0-for-2 with a walk and three runs scored in a 14-11 win over the Reds.
Heath had started three consecutive games in center field since being acquired from the Royals before getting a break Thursday. He eventually entered as a pinch runner and stayed in the game to play center. He'll get chances with Tim Locastro (finger) and Ketel Marte (hamstring) unavailable.

Diamondbacks' Nick Heath: Knocks three hits in debut
Heath started in center field, batted eighth and went 3-for-4 in Sunday's 5-2 win over the Nationals. He was also caught stealing.
Heath cleared intake protocols after being acquired from the Royals on Saturday and was needed immediately to replace the injured Tim Locastro (finger), who landed on the injured list. With Ketel Marte (hamstring) also on the injured list, Heath is expected to get regular at-bats in center field, against right-handers at least. The left-handed hitting outfielder started against righty Paolo Espino on Sunday and has little MLB track record (one at-bat) against southpaws.

Diamondbacks' Nick Heath: Gets call-up, starting Sunday
The Diamondbacks recalled Heath from their taxi squad ahead of Sunday's game against the Nationals. He'll start in center field and bat eighth in the series finale, according to Steve Gilbert of MLB.com.
With Tim Locastro (finger) joining Ketel Marte (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list Sunday, Heath looks like he could have a clear path to an everyday role in center field, at least against right-handed pitching. The 27-year-old boasts excellent speed and showed an ability to draw walks in the minors, but his lack of power and contact skills will likely keep him parked near the bottom of the Arizona lineup.

Diamondbacks' Nick Heath: Timely addition
Heath could start in center field as early as Sunday after Tim Locastro left Saturday's game with a pinkie injury, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.
Heath, who was acquired from the Royals on Saturday prior to Locastro's injury, still needs to clear COVID-19 protocols before joining the roster. He could be the regular center fielder until either Locastro (finger) or Ketel Marte (hamstring) are ready to go. Heath went 2-for-13 in 15 games for Kansas City before he was designated for assignment on Wednesday. The Diamondbacks could also lean on prospect Daulton Varsho, who is on the 40-man roster, or Trayce Thompson, who is not.

Royals' Nick Heath: Designated for assignment
Heath was designated for assignment by the Royals on Wednesday.
Heath was sent to Triple-A Omaha in mid-March and failed to join the major-league club to begin the regular season. He'll now be removed from the 40-man roster after right-hander Josh Staumont was activated from the COVID-19 injured list Wednesday. Heath appeared in 15 games for Kansas City in 2020 and hit .154 with three RBI and two stolen bases.

Royals' Nick Heath: Moves to minors
The Royals optioned Heath to Triple-A Omaha on Monday.
Heath made his big-league debut in 2020 as a reserve outfielder for the Royals, but he didn't make enough of an impression in his small sample of work to secure his spot on the active roster heading into the new season. His demotion likely leaves Ryan McBroom, Jarrod Dyson and Bubba Starling as the main candidates for backup outfield roles on the Royals' Opening Day roster.

Royals' Nick Heath: Recalled by Royals
Heath was recalled by the Royals on Saturday.
Heath made his big-league debut in late July and went 2-for-6 at the plate over five games before suffering a hamstring injury. He was optioned immediately upon his activation from the injured list at the end of August but should now be set to fill a bench role down the stretch.
