  • Blue Jays' Rudy Martin: Called up by Blue Jays

The Blue Jays selected Martin's contract from Triple-A Buffalo on Friday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Martin is receiving his first ever promotion to the big leagues after spending 12 years in the minors. The 30-year-old was claimed off waivers by the Blue Jays in July, removed from the 40-man roster in August and has now made his way back onto the roster. It's a nice story of perseverance, but Martin isn't likely to play much down the stretch.

  • Blue Jays' Rudy Martin: Outrighted to Triple-A

The Blue Jays outrighted Martin to Triple-A Buffalo on Monday, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Though he's no longer part of the Blue Jays' 40-man roster, Martin will stay in the organization after clearing waiver. Martin has slashed .280/.408/.415 between the Double- and Triple-A levels this season and is still looking to make his major-league debut.

  • Blue Jays' Rudy Martin: DFA'd by Toronto

The Blue Jays designated Martin for assignment Friday.

Toronto needed the 40-man roster spot to promote newcomer Brett Bateman to the big leagues. Martin has spent time with the Royals, Orioles and Blue Jays' organizations this season and owns a .280/.408/.415 slash line with eight homers, 32 RBI, 52 runs scored, 39 stolen bases and a 47:71 BB:K across 294 plate appearances at Double-A and Triple-A.

  • Blue Jays' Rudy Martin: Claimed by Blue Jays

The Blue Jays claimed Martin off waivers from the Orioles on Thursday, Ari Alexander of 7 News Boston reports.

Martin was traded from the Royals to the Orioles last week and is now on the move again without having played in any games in the Baltimore organization. The 30-year-old outfielder has slashed .284/.414/.441 with eight home runs and 33 stolen bases between the Double-A and Triple-A levels this season. Martin will presumably report to Triple-A Buffalo.

  • Orioles' Rudy Martin: Cast off 40-man roster

The Orioles designated Martin for assignment Monday.

Just three days after the Orioles acquired him from the Royals and added him to their 40-man roster, Martin will give up his spot to catcher Chadwick Tromp, whose contract was selected from Triple-A Norfolk. The 30-year-old Martin will now be exposed to waivers, and he could opt to explore his options in free agency if he doesn't end up getting claimed. Martin's trade to the Orioles was facilitated by him exercising an upward-mobility clause in his minor-league deal with the Royals after he had produced an .855 OPS to go with eight home runs and 33 stolen bases over 64 games between Triple-A Omaha and Double-A Northwest Arkansas prior to the All-Star break.

  • Orioles' Rudy Martin: Shipped to O's, joining 40-man

The Orioles acquired Martin from the Royals on Friday and selected him to the 40-man roster, Ari Alexander of 7 News Boston reports.

Martin triggered the upward mobility clause in his minor-league deal with Kansas City on Wednesday, allowing the other 29 teams to add him to their 40-man roster. The Orioles took advantage of the opportunity and will now bring in a 30-year-old outfielder who has slashed .293/.417/.462 with nine homers, 30 RBI, 51 runs and 36 steals between Double-A and Triple-A this season. Martin will begin his tenure with the O's at Triple-A Norfolk.
