  • Diamondbacks' Dylan Ray: Sent to minor-league camp

The Diamondbacks optioned Ray to minor-league camp Thursday, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Ray was added to Arizona's 40-man roster this offseason but never had a real chance to crack the Opening Day roster. The 24-year-old permitted four runs (two earned) with a 2:2 K:BB over 1.1 frames in his lone Cactus League appearance. Ray will open the 2026 season in the Triple-A Reno rotation.

  • Diamondbacks' Dylan Ray: Shielded from Rule 5 Draft

The Diamondbacks selected Ray's contract from Triple-A Reno on Tuesday.

Ray reached Triple-A for the first time in 2025 after posting a 3.93 ERA across 10 starts at Double-A Amarillo. However, he took a considerable step back following his promotion and accumulated a 6.30 ERA and 1.61 WHIP over 90 frames (18 starts) at Reno. Now protected from the Rule 5 Draft, the 24-year-old right-hander will most likely remain with the Aces until he shows improvement on the mound.

  • Diamondbacks' Dylan Ray: Back in action at Double-A

Ray (forearm) started and gave up three earned runs on three hits and one walk while striking out one over 2.2 innings Wednesday in his return from Double-A Amarillo's 60-day injured list.

After a 2.2-inning tune-up outing in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League on June 6, Ray was given the green light to move to Amarillo for this 2024 debut with the affiliate. Ray had been on the shelf all season with a right forearm flexor strain.

  • Diamondbacks' Dylan Ray: Opens season on IL

Double-A Amarillo placed Ray on its 60-day injured list March 22 with an unspecified injury.

Ray will be sidelined until at least late May while he recovers from the injury. The 22-year-old right-hander split time between Amarillo and High-A Hillsboro in 2023, making 25 starts and accruing a 4.37 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 138:40 K:BB over 113.1 innings.
