Twins' Cory Lewis: Weeks away from pitching
Twins head trainer Nick Paparesta said Thursday that Lewis (shoulder) is still a couple weeks away from throwing off a mound, Bobby Nightengale of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports.
Lewis strained his right shoulder prior to reporting to spring training and only recently began playing catch, so he'll need more time to increase his throwing distance off flat ground before graduating to mound work. The 25-year-old was cut from big-league camp Thursday and will likely serve as a swingman at Triple-A St. Paul once he's fully healthy.

Twins' Cory Lewis: Shut down with shoulder strain
Lewis has been shut down from throwing after he was diagnosed with a moderate subscapularis strain in his right shoulder, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Lewis is coming off a disappointing season as he had an ugly 7.27 ERA and 87:68 K:BB ratio in 73 innings at Triple-A in 2025. He missed some time last season with a right shoulder injury, but it's not clear if this setback is related. Lewis has had an unusual career path, as he's increasingly incorporated a knuckleball in his arsenal. He'll likely be shut down for at least a few weeks before being evaluated.

Twins' Cory Lewis: Placed on Development List
Lewis was placed on the Development List at Triple-A St. Paul.
It's been a rough season for Lewis who has a 7.32 ERA and ugly 81:63 K:BB at St. Paul. Lewis was working on using his knuckleball more this season, so the Twins may have had extra patience with his performance. After giving up six runs while getting one out in his last start, his placement on the Development List may be a way to give him a mental reset.

Twins' Cory Lewis: Off injured list
Double-A Wichita reinstated Lewis (shoulder) from its 60-day injured list Tuesday, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.
The right-hander has been sidelined for the first couple months of the season with a shoulder injury but is ready to join Wichita's rotation after three rehab starts in the lower minors. The 23-year-old is one of Minnesota's top pitching prospects and had a 2.49 ERA and 118:33 K:BB over 101.1 innings between the Single-A and High-A levels during his first professional campaign in 2023.

Twins' Cory Lewis: Begins rehab assignment
Lewis (shoulder) gave up one run in two innings with three strikeouts and one walk Friday during his first rehab outing with the FCL Twins.
Lewis was one of the top lower-level arms in the Twins organization in 2023, as he compiled a 2.49 ERA and 118:33 K:BB in 101.1 innings between Single-A Fort Myers and High-A Cedar Rapids. He had not pitched this season prior to Friday due to a right shoulder impingement. He'll likely move to Double-A Wichita when he finishes his rehab assignment.

Twins' Cory Lewis: Out with shoulder injury
Lewis was placed on the 7-day injured list at Double-A Wichita with a right shoulder impingement, TwinsDaily.com reports.
Lewis was named the Twins' Minor League Pitcher of the Year last season after going 9-4 with a 2.49 ERA and 118:33 K:BB in 101.1 IP between Low-A Fort Myers and High-A Cedar Rapids. It's not a good sign that his 2024 season is starting with an injury, though there are no details on the severity of the issue.
