  • Brewers' Lyon Richardson: Inks minor-leage deal with Brewers

Richardson signed a minor-league contract with the Brewers on Friday, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Richardson elected free agency Thursday after clearing waivers. He's opted to stay with the Brewers organization on a minor-league deal and will likely suit up for Triple-A Nashville. Richardson has spent most of the 2026 season in Triple-A, where he has a 4.48 ERA and 1.38 WHIP across 60.1 innings.

  • Lyon Richardson: Opts for free agency

Richardson cleared waivers Thursday and elected free agency, Jack Stern of BrewerFanatic.com reports.

Richardson was DFA'd by Milwaukee on Tuesday after making just one appearance with the team, and he'll now look for another opportunity in the open market. The 26-year-old has given up five earned runs in just 3.1 MLB innings this season but owns a 4.48 ERA and 1.38 WHIP through 60.1 innings at Triple-A.

  • Brewers' Lyon Richardson: DFA'd by Brewers

The Brewers designated Richardson for assignment Tuesday.

Richardson appeared in one game after getting called up from Triple-A on Saturday, during which he gave up zero hits and a walk over 1.2 scoreless innings. He'll now lose his place on the active and 40-man rosters to make room for Bryse Wilson, who signed a major-league deal with the Crew on Tuesday.

  • Brewers' Lyon Richardson: Called up from Nashville

The Brewers selected Richardson's contract from Triple-A Nashville on Saturday.

Since signing a minor-league deal with Milwaukee in June, Richardson has turned in a 4.20 ERA and 1.50 WHIP across 30 innings with Nashville. Although his Triple-A numbers weren't anything special, the Brewers will add him to their bullpen to give them another fresh arm to work with. Bryse Wilson was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

  • Brewers' Lyon Richardson: Nabs MiLB pact with Brewers

The Brewers signed Richardson to a minor-league contract Thursday, Jim Goulart of BrewerFanatic.com reports.

Richardson elected free agency last week after being booted off the Reds' 40-man roster. The 26-year-old holds a career 6.67 ERA and 46:39 K:BB over 56.2 innings covering parts of four seasons at the major-league level. Richardson will report to the Brewers' Arizona Complex League affiliate for now but should move up to Triple-A Nashville soon.

  • Lyon Richardson: Reaches free agency

Richardson elected to become a free agent Thursday, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.

Richardson cleared waivers after being removed from the Reds' 40-man roster, but he's exercised his right to hit the free-agent market rather than accept an outright assignment. The right-hander holds a career 6.67 ERA and 46:39 K:BB over 56.2 innings covering parts of four seasons at the major-league level.

  • Reds' Lyon Richardson: DFA'd by Reds

The Reds designated Richardson for assignment Tuesday.

Richardson served as the opener Monday versus Kansas City and took the loss after surrendering four runs over one inning, and he's now been removed from both the 26-man and 40-man rosters. Brandon Leibrandt was also DFA'd, opening up roster space for the promotions of Zach McCambley and Luis Mey.

  • Reds' Lyon Richardson: Allows four runs as opener

Richardson (0-1) was tagged with the loss Monday against the Royals after allowing four runs on one hit and two walks in one inning. He also struck out two.

Richardson was facing a two-out, bases-loaded situation when Lane Thomas smashed a 106.3 mph missile into left-center field to give the Royals an advantage they'd never relinquish. Richardson was removed after that first inning, and his ERA now sits at 27.00 after just two big-league appearances this year. In 1.2 innings, he's given up five earned runs and two homers with a 3:2 K:BB.

  • Reds' Lyon Richardson: Drawing short-notice start

The Reds announced that Richardson will serve as their opening pitcher for Monday's game against the Royals.

With Chase Burns (illness) being scratched from his scheduled turn through the rotation on short notice, the Reds will turn to Richardson to make his first big-league start since 2023. Prior to being promoted from Triple-A Louisville on Saturday, Richardson has worked between two and three innings in nine of his 18 appearances in the minors this season, so he should be capable of providing a little more length than the typical opener. That said, Richardson isn't expected to work deep into Monday's contest, so the Reds could count on new call-up Brandon Leibrandt -- who had been starting with Louisville -- to cover multiple innings out of the bullpen.

  • Reds' Lyon Richardson: Selected from Louisville

The Reds selected Richardson's contract from Triple-A Louisville on Saturday.

Richardson has been with Louisville all season, turning in a 4.75 ERA and 1.26 WHIP alongside a 34:14 K:BB through 30.1 innings. He'll head to the majors as a replacement for Pierce Johnson (elbow) and likely be limited to low-leverage work as long as he's with the Reds. Kyle Nicolas was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

  • Reds' Lyon Richardson: Outrighted to Triple-A

The Reds outrighted Richardson to Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday.

Richardson is no longer on the 40-man roster but will remain in the organization after passing through waivers unclaimed. The right-hander finished 2025 with a 4.54 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 30:21 K:BB across 37.2 regular-season innings for Cincinnati.

  • Reds' Lyon Richardson: Pushed off 40-man

The Reds designated Richardson for assignment Saturday, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Following the Reds' acquisition of outfielder Dane Myers (knee) from Miami on Saturday, Richardson will end up as the roster casualty necessary to create space on the 40-man. The 25-year-old reliever finished 2025 with a 4.54 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 30:21 K:BB across 37.2 regular-season innings. However, his 4.06 FIP indicates that he performed slightly better than what his base stats suggest, and there's a chance another team in need of bullpen depth claims the right-hander off waivers.

  • Reds' Lyon Richardson: Sent to Triple-A

The Reds optioned Richardson to Triple-A Louisville on Thursday.

Richardson will be sent down to the minors alongside Yosver Zulueta in order to make room on the active roster for Graham Ashcraft (forearm) and Chase Burns (elbow), both of whom returned from the injured list Thursday. Richardson, 25, surrendered three earned runs in one inning during his lone appearance since being promoted Sept. 3 and now carries a 4.54 ERA and 1.54 WHIP through 37.2 MLB frames.

  • Reds' Lyon Richardson: Sent back to minors

The Reds optioned Richardson to Triple-A Louisville on Monday.

Cincinnati and Atlanta were granted a 27th player on the active roster Sunday during the completion of the suspended Speedway Classic game, and Richardson filled that role for the Reds. The righty struck out three over two scoreless innings Sunday and will now rejoin Louisville's bullpen.

  • Reds' Lyon Richardson: Back with big club

Richardson was brought up from Triple-A Louisville to serve as the 27th man for Sunday's game against Atlanta.

After the Speedway Classic was suspended Saturday in the first inning following multiple rain delays, Atlanta and Cincinnati will resume the game Sunday. Because starter Chase Burns won't pitch after tossing a perfect inning a day earlier, the Reds will lean on a slew of relievers to get them through the contest. Richardson will be a candidate to head back to Louisville immediately after the contest.

  • Reds' Lyon Richardson: Dispatched to Triple-A

The Reds optioned Richardson to Triple-A Louisville following Friday's game against Atlanta.

Richardson will cede his spot on the 26-man active roster to right-hander Zack Littell, whom Cincinnati acquired from Tampa Bay prior to Thursday's trade deadline. Richardson has spent most of the season in the majors and has a 4.15 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 27:19 K:BB across 34.2 innings this season out of the bullpen.

  • Reds' Lyon Richardson: Bound for Triple-A

The Reds optioned Richardson to Triple-A Louisville on Thursday.

Cincinnati will announce a corresponding roster move Friday, when Hunter Greene (groin) will be activated from the 15-day injured list to start the Reds' series opener versus the Cubs. Richardson has allowed just three runs (two earned) over 13.2 innings out of the Reds bullpen this season, although he struck out only seven batters.

  • Reds' Lyon Richardson: Back in majors

The Reds recalled Richardson from Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday.

The right-hander was optioned to Louisville on Thursday but will be able to quickly rejoin the Reds since Tyler Callihan (forearm) was placed on the injured list. Richardson has appeared in two games for Cincinnati this year and has allowed one earned run with a 2:1 K:BB over four innings.
