Anthony DiComo@AnthonyDiComo11H ago❓ Can Kodai Senga be healthy? ❓ Can Senga be an ace? Much of what the Mets are hoping to achieve depends on it. https://t.co/yMhggEQzfr

Mike Puma@NYPost_Mets12H agoThe first official workout for Mets pitchers and catchers is Wednesday. On the slate: Clay Holmes, who has already been here about a month, is scheduled to throw three innings of live batting practice.

Mike Puma@NYPost_Mets13H agoMets are also going to take a look at Nick Madrigal at shortstop, among other positions this spring. Madrigal has never played SS in the big leagues, but the Mets aside from Luisangel Acuna don't have a real backup SS option to start the season.

Michael Baron@michaelgbaron13H agoI personally believe second base is going to be a very fluid situation for the #Mets heading into Opening Day and perhaps beyond. They have a lot of options, its a new chance for Brett Baty too.

Mike Puma@NYPost_Mets13H agoMets are also going to take it slow with A.J. Minter, who is returning from hip surgery. He won't throw his first bullpen until late in February, according to Carlos Mendoza.

Anthony DiComo@AnthonyDiComo13H agoAlso notable from Carlos Mendoza's first spring press conference: José Buttó is officially a reliever. The Mets envision Buttó in the same sort of multi-inning role he occupied for much of last season, giving them up to around 45 pitches at a time out of the bullpen.

Anthony DiComo@AnthonyDiComo14H agoA couple early Mets injury notes: -A.J. Minter (recovery from hip labrum surgery) isn't a lock to be ready for Opening Day, but the Mets are optimistic he'll be there. -Ronny Mauricio won't appear in games until at least mid-March as he continues a slow rehab from knee issues.

Anthony DiComo@AnthonyDiComo14H agoFrancisco Lindor will lead off again for the Mets this year, Carlos Mendoza said (to confirm the obvious). Mendoza won't reveal more until he's had the proper conversations with Juan Soto, Pete Alonso and others. Soto has largely hit second and third throughout his career.
