  • Rockies' Blas Castano: Closing in on throwing program

Castano (pectoral) is expected to begin a throwing program next week, MLB.com reports. Castano will need more than a week to build up as he works his way back from a right pectoral strain, so he doesn't appear to be in line to return from the 15-day injured list until after the All-Star break. Before landing on the shelf June 21, Castano turned in a 3.92 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 17:6 K:BB in 20.2 innings over 10 appearances out of the Colorado bullpen.

  • Rockies' Blas Castano: Shelved with pec strain

The Rockies placed Castano on the 15-day injured list Sunday due to a right pectoral strain. Castano will be eligible to return from the shelf July 3, but given the nature of his injury, he may need more than the minimum amount of time on the IL to make a full recovery. The 26-year-old had been occupying a low-leverage role in the Colorado bullpen since being promoted from Triple-A Albuquerque on May 21, recording one win and no holds or saves while pitching to a 3.93 ERA and 1.36 WHIP across 18.1 innings in nine appearances.

  • Rockies' Blas Castano: Demoted to Triple-A

Castano was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on Monday, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports. Castano was brought up to the big leagues Sunday and allowed one run on two hits and one walk while striking out three over 2.1 frames against the Diamondbacks. He'll return to Triple-A where he'll serve as organizational bullpen depth.

Castano was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque after Sunday's doubleheader sweep of the Mets. Castano was called up to serve as Colorado's 27th man ahead of Sunday's pair of contests in New York, but he didn't appear in either victory. The right-hander will now return to the Triple-A level, where he's posted a 1.23 ERA and 0.68 WHIP with five strikeouts over seven appearances with Triple-A Tacoma and Triple-A Albuquerque so far this year.

  • Rockies' Blas Castano: Claimed by Colorado

Castano was designated for assignment by the Mariners last week but will maintain a spot on a 40-man roster with the Rockies. The Mariners optioned Castano to Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday. Castano has yielded five runs with a 3:3 K:BB over five innings in five Cactus League outings. • Mariners' Blas Castano: Set to receive promotion

The Mariners will recall Castano from Triple-A Tacoma prior to Friday's game in Houston, Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com reports. Castano holds a 3.43 ERA and 28:19 K:BB over 44.2 innings and 10 appearances (seven starts) with Tacoma this season. He'll give the Mariners' bullpen some length after the team's relievers covered 4.1 innings in Thursday's loss to the Astros. Castano will be making his major-league debut when he gets into a game.

  • Mariners' Blas Castano: Optioned to Triple-A

The Mariners optioned Castano to Triple-A Tacoma on Friday. Castano was added to the Mariners' 40-man roster in November, but he'll head back to Triple-A to begin 2025 after allowing five runs (four earned) over two innings during spring training. The 26-year-old righty turned in a 5.13 ERA and 1.41 WHIP with the Rainiers last season, and he'll likely need to improve upon those numbers before getting a chance in Seattle's rotation.
