  • Dodgers' Seth Halvorsen: Sent down to Triple-A

The Dodgers optioned Halvorsen to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday. Halvorsen was traded by the Rockies to the Dodgers on July 20 and made his debut with his new team Tuesday against the Royals, when he was credited with the win after issuing one walk in a scoreless ninth inning. He'll head down to Triple-A, but Halvorsen could see more big-league action over the next couple of weeks should the Dodgers require more right-handed depth out of the bullpen. Landon Knack was recalled by the Dodgers from Oklahoma City in a corresponding move.

  • Dodgers' Seth Halvorsen: Logs win in Dodgers debut

Halvorsen (1-1) earned the win over Kansas City on Tuesday, issuing one walk over one scoreless and hitless inning. Halvorsen was traded to the Dodgers on July 20, and he spent his first few weeks in the organization with Triple-A Oklahoma City as he continued to work his way back from a shoulder injury. The righty reliever was called up Monday and didn't exactly get a soft landing spot for his first appearance with the Dodgers, as he entered in the top of the 10th inning Tuesday with the task of preventing the Royals' automatic runner at second base from scoring. Halvorsen was up to the challenge, keeping the score tied while maneuvering around a two-out intentional walk. It remains to be seen how much high-leverage work the 26-year-old will get with his new team, but he's certainly in a better position to succeed now that he's away from Coors Field, and he's an intriguing addition to Los Angeles' bullpen given his ability to hit triple digits with his fastball.

  • Dodgers' Seth Halvorsen: Joins big-league bullpen

The Dodgers recalled Halvorsen from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Monday. Acquired from the Rockies in a trade last month, Halvorsen logged 6.1 scoreless innings with an 8:2 K:BB with Oklahoma City to earn a promotion. He holds a 4.91 ERA and 53:36 K:BB over 58.2 frames in the majors across the last two seasons, but Halvorsen has a big arm and the Dodgers will aim to coax more consistency out of him.

  • Dodgers' Seth Halvorsen: Traded to Dodgers

The Dodgers acquired Halvorsen (shoulder) from the Rockies on Monday in exchange for Nick Frasso and Landyn Vidourek, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports. Halvorsen is currently on the 15-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation, but he began a rehab assignment Sunday. Per Joel Sherman of the New York Post, the Dodgers intend to assign Halvorsen to Triple-A Oklahoma City. Halvorsen is one of the hardest-throwing relievers in baseball with an average four-seamer velocity of 98.8 mph, but he's struggled to gain traction at the big-league level with a 4.31 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 66:38 K:BB over 71 innings. The Dodgers will try to coax more out of the 26-year-old.

  • Rockies' Seth Halvorsen: Makes rehab appearance

Halvorsen (shoulder) began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday, permitting two hits in a scoreless inning. Halvorsen has been shelved for all of July due to right shoulder inflammation. He shouldn't require too many more rehab outings, though it's not a given that Halvorsen is reinstated to the big-league roster once he's physically ready.

  • Rockies' Seth Halvorsen: Back up in big leagues

The Rockies recalled Halvorsen from Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday. Colorado sent Halvorsen back to Triple-A on June 17, but he'll be eligible to rejoin the big club a week later after right-hander Jaden Hill (shoulder) was moved to the 15-day injured list in a corresponding move. The Rockies will likely limit Halvorsen to lower-leverage spots during his upcoming stint in the big leagues; the reliever has posted a 3.31 ERA in 16.1 innings with Colorado this season but has walked nearly as many batters (14) as he's struck out (16).

  • Rockies' Seth Halvorsen: Demoted to Triple-A

The Rockies optioned Halvorsen to Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday. Halvorsen has turned in a 3.31 ERA through 16.1 innings with the Rockies this season, but he'll end up as the odd man out of Colorado's bullpen following Jimmy Herget's (shoulder) return from the injured list. Based on the results Halvorsen has gotten in both the majors and at Triple-A (2.45 ERA in 14.2 IP), he's a safe bet to rejoin the Rockies at some point when the team needs a fresh arm.

  • Rockies' Seth Halvorsen: Charged with blown save

Halvorsen blew the save in Monday's 5-4 loss to the Cubs. He allowed two inherited runners to score on a hit and a walk without recording an out. Entering with the bases loaded, no outs and the Rockies clinging to a one-run lead in the ninth inning, Halvorsen gave up an RBI single to Pedro Ramirez before walking Matt Shaw to bring in the game-winning run. While the runs were charged to Juan Mejia's line and he was saddled with the loss, Halvorsen was credited with the blown save in his first save situation of the season. The right-hander has split time between Triple-A Albuquerque and Colorado in 2026, posting a 3.31 ERA, 1.78 WHIP and 16:14 K:BB across 16.1 innings with the big-league club.

  • Rockies' Seth Halvorsen: Back with big-league club

The Rockies recalled Halvorsen from Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday. Halvorsen had a brief stint with Colorado in late April, during which he pitched two scoreless and hitless innings while posting a 2:2 K:BB. The right-hander is back with the major-league club in a corresponding move to Jimmy Herget (personal) landing on the bereavement/family medical emergency list. Halvorsen will likely work primarily in low-leverage situations while up with Colorado.

  • Rockies' Seth Halvorsen: Optioned to Triple-A

The Rockies optioned Halvorsen to Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday, Kevin Henry of The Denver Gazette reports. Halvorsen entered spring training as a candidate for high-leverage work but pitched his way into a stint in the minors by yielding 12 runs with an ugly 4:12 K:BB over five innings of work. The hard thrower will try to get back on track at Albuquerque and could still have an important role in the Colorado bullpen down the line.

  • Rockies' Seth Halvorsen: Not expected to make roster

Halvorsen is not expected to make the Rockies' Opening Day roster, Kevin Henry of The Denver Gazette reports. There's no official move yet, but Halvorsen does not have a locker in the team's clubhouse. The hard-throwing righty entered spring training as a candidate to serve as the Rockies' closer, but he struggled mightily in Cactus League play, allowing 12 runs with an ugly 4:12 K:BB over five innings of work. Halvorsen could still play an important role in Colorado's bullpen this season, but he'll work on honing his craft at Triple-A Albuquerque for a while. Victor Vodnik is the favorite to open the season as the Rockies' closer, but it's a bullpen situation fantasy managers would be best off avoiding.

  • Rockies' Seth Halvorsen: Resumes throwing

Halvorsen (elbow) has resumed throwing from 60 feet and is hoping to return from the injured list prior to the end of the season, MLB.com reports. This marks Halvorsen's first notable progress since he was sidelined in early August with an elbow injury. He hopes to pitch in a game before the season is over, but Halvorsen is expected to be at full strength shortly after the campaign ends if he cannot return.

  • Rockies' Seth Halvorsen: Not making much progress

Halvorsen (elbow) is continuing his rehab, but he will not begin the next steps toward his return to the field until early September, MLB.com reports. The Rockies continue to say that Halvorsen could return this season, but it appears that he will only be available for a few weeks at best. His role upon his return could also be murky, as Victor Vodnik has turned in five consecutive scoreless appearances, piling up four saves and a win.

  • Rockies' Seth Halvorsen: Shut down with elbow strain

The Rockies placed Halvorsen on the 15-day injured list Sunday due to a right elbow strain. Halvorsen's elbow acted up Saturday, prompting the Rockies to pull him from the contest midway through Spencer Horwitz's at-bat. Though Dugan Darnell ended up finishing out the contest, Victor Vodnik and Juan Mejia could be the top options for saves while Halvorsen is on the shelf. According to Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post, the right-hander will undergo an MRI on Sunday, and he's likely to miss more than the minimum 15 days. Halvorsen has converted 11 of 14 save chances while providing a 4.99 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 36:21 K:BB in 39.2 innings on the season.

  • Rockies' Seth Halvorsen: Tallies ninth save Friday

Halvorsen picked up the save in Friday's 6-4 win over the Twins, allowing one hit and no walks during a scoreless ninth inning. He struck out two. The save was the ninth of the year for the 25-year-old right-hander, who fanned multiple batters for the first time since June 18. Halvorsen surrendered five runs while failing to record an out his last time out in Boston, so he bounced back nicely from that meltdown as well. The last-place Rockies do figure to rank toward the bottom of the major leagues in save opportunities the rest of the way, but Halvorsen at least seems to be first in line for those chances despite submitting a 5.15 ERA and 1.55 WHIP in 2025.

  • Rockies' Seth Halvorsen: Records four-out save

Halvorsen earned the save in Thursday's 7-6 win over the Astros, allowing one run on three hits while striking out one batter in 1.1 innings. He did not issue a walk. Halvorsen was brought in for the eighth inning to record the final out and came back out for the ninth to protect the Rockies' two-run lead. He gave up a triple and an RBI groundout to start the frame and yielded back-to-back singles, but he managed to escape with the save after getting Cooper Hummel to fly out to right field. It was Halvorsen's seventh save of the season (and fifth since the beginning of June), and he now has a 4.15 ERA and 1.44 WHIP across 34.2 innings.

  • Rockies' Seth Halvorsen: Secures sixth save

Halvorsen allowed a hit in a scoreless inning and earned a save over Arizona on Sunday. He struck out one batter. Halvorsen worked around a two-out double by Randal Grichuk to close out the 4-2 victory Sunday. It was Halvorsen's first appearance since blowing a save chance against the Nationals on Thursday. He's now converted six of his nine save opportunities while producing a 4.31 ERA and a 29:14 K:BB through 31.1 innings.

  • Rockies' Seth Halvorsen: Knocked around in defeat

Halvorsen (0-1) took the loss and was charged with a blown save Monday against the Phillies, allowing four runs on five hits while striking out one batter over two-thirds of an inning. Halvorsen had picked up Colorado's most recent save -- Saturday versus Tampa Bay -- but was brought in for the eighth inning Monday with the Rockies up by a run. The right-hander gave up the lead on a two-run homer by Alec Bohm and then allowed three more hits, resulting in two more runs, before he was pulled. Halvorsen's usage in the outing suggests that he's not locked in as Colorado's go-to closer despite tying for the team lead with two saves. Zach Agnos also has two saves and has pitched much better than Halvorsen with a 1.50 ERA and 1.00 WHIP to Halvorsen's 5.30 and 1.61 marks.

  • Rockies' Seth Halvorsen: Notches save Saturday

Halvorsen picked up a save against Arizona on Saturday, walking one batter in a scoreless and hitless inning of work. Colorado trailed 11-6 midway through the contest but managed to storm back to take a two-run lead into the bottom of the ninth. Halvorsen got the call to close things out and managed to do so despite issuing a two-out walk and throwing just seven of 14 pitches for strikes. Save opportunities have been few and far between for the eight-win Rockies this season, but Halvorsen has managed a pair of saves to tie for the team lead. There doesn't appear to be a clear bullpen hierarchy with the team, as Zach Agnos -- who also has two saves -- pitched in the seventh inning Saturday while Tyler Kinley (who has one save) handled the eighth. For fantasy purposes, there is little reason to invest much in any Rockies reliever, but Halvorsen and Agnos are probably the best targets for managers desperate for saves.

  • Rockies' Seth Halvorsen: Bounces back to close out win

Halvorsen walked one and struck out one across a scoreless ninth inning Thursday against the Brewers. Halvorsen entered the game with a five-run lead in the ninth inning, so it wasn't a save situation. However, it was still an important outing after he surrendered six runs (three earned) while recording just one out in Wednesday's game. Halvorsen should be in line for at least a share of Colorado's saves moving forward.
