  • Rockies' Jared Thomas: Returns from Double-A injured list

Double-A Hartford reinstated Thomas (wrist) from its 7-day injured list Wednesday and assigned him to the rookie-level Arizona Complex League.

Thomas has yet to make his 2026 debut at Double-A following a lengthy recovering from offseason surgery to address a fractured hamate bone in his right wrist. The 23-year-old outfielder played in four rehab games in the ACL prior to the All-Star break and will stick around in Arizona to continue stockpiling at-bats. He'll likely report back to Hartford once he regains his timing at the plate.

  • Rockies' Jared Thomas: On mend from offseason surgery

The Rockies announced Monday that Thomas hasn't been participating in spring training while he recovers from offseason surgery to address a fractured hamate bone in his right wrist, TheDNVR.com reports.

The report doesn't provide any specifics regarding when Thomas had his surgery, making it difficult to project when he might be ready for game action. One of the top prospects in the Colorado organization, the 22-year-old outfielder split time between High-A Spokane and Double-A Hartford in 2025 and slashed .300/.398/.452 with 14 home runs and 33 stolen bases over 533 plate appearances.

  • Rockies' Jared Thomas: Strikeouts spike at Double-A

Thomas slashed .239/.343/.368 with three home runs, 11 steals, a 13.2 percent walk rate and a 35.2 percent strikeout rate in 43 games for Double-A Hartford.

The No. 42 overall pick in last year's draft, Thomas capitalized on good fortune (.421 BABIP) and the favorable hitting conditions in Spokane to slash .330/.427/.495 with 11 homers and 22 steals in 73 games at High-A before getting promoted to Double-A on his 22nd birthday July 1. Given that his strikeout rate spiked into the danger zone when he was promoted to an age-appropriate level and more neutral hitting environment, Thomas' dynasty stock is trending down to close 2025, but he'll have a chance to boost it in the coming months playing in the Arizona Fall League. Thomas saw the majority of his starts in left field this year, which puts more pressure on him to provide significant offensive value.
