Orioles' Kyle Dowdy: Reassigned to minors camp
Dowdy was reassigned Tuesday to the minor-league side of Orioles camp, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
Dowdy had allowed four earned runs on four hits and four walks through just three innings of work this spring in the Grapefruit League. The 30-year-old right-hander is headed for the bullpen at Triple-A Norfolk to begin the 2023 campaign.

Orioles' Kyle Dowdy: Signs with Orioles
The Orioles signed Dowdy to a minor-league contract Monday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
The righty threw 6.1 scoreless innings across two appearances for Cincinnati in 2022. His only lengthy MLB stint came in 2019 and went poorly with a 7.25 ERA, so it's unclear when Dowdy will get his first opportunity with Baltimore.

Reds' Kyle Dowdy: DFA'd by Reds
Cincinnati designated Dowdy for assignment Tuesday.
Dowdy pitched 6.1 scoreless innings for the Reds late in the season, but will lose his spot on the 40-man roster in order to make room for other prospects to be protected from the upcoming Rule 5 draft. Dowdy finished his season in Triple-A Louisville with a 3.96 ERA and 1.50 WHIP through 52.1 innings out of the bullpen.

Reds' Kyle Dowdy: Back in minors
Dowdy has struck out a batter while allowing an unearned run on one hit and two walks in 1.2 innings across two appearances for Triple-A Louisville since the Reds returned him to the minors on Sept. 18.
Dowdy's stay with Cincinnati lasted just one day, as he was called up from Triple-A on Sept. 17 to serve as the Reds' 29th man for a doubleheader with the Cardinals. He mopped up behind starter Mike Minor in Game 1 of the twin bill that day, tossing four scoreless innings while striking out a batter.

Reds' Kyle Dowdy: Called up as 29th man
Dowdy was recalled from Triple-A Louisville to serve as the 29th man during Saturday's doubleheader against the Cardinals.
Dowdy also served as the 29th man during Tuesday's twin bill against the Pirates and tossed 2.1 scoreless innings during his first major-league appearance of the season. The right-hander should be a multi-inning option out of the Reds' bullpen Saturday.

Reds' Kyle Dowdy: Contract selected Tuesday
Dowdy's contract was selected from Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday.
He was subsequently optioned to Triple-A and then added as the 29th man for Tuesday's doubleheader against the Pirates, so Dowdy will presumably just be up with the big club for the twin bill. The 29-year-old righty has a 4.25 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 53 strikeouts in 48.2 innings across 44 appearances at Triple-A.

Reds' Kyle Dowdy: Sent to minor-league camp
Dowdy was reassigned to minor-league camp Sunday.
Dowdy joined the Reds on a minor-league deal in December, though the move isn't particularly surprising given that Dowdy last pitched in the majors in 2019. He should serve as organizational depth throughout the campaign.

Reds' Kyle Dowdy: Joining Reds camp
Dowdy signed with the Reds as a non-roster invitee Thursday.
Dowdy's only major-league experience saw him post a 7.25 ERA in 22.1 innings for the Rangers back in 2019, walking more batters (18) than he struck out (17). He spent 2021 with Triple-A Columbus in the Guardians' system, where his 4.80 ERA and 14.7 percent walk rate both suggest he's unlikely to take the step forward and become an important major-league arm.

Indians' Kyle Dowdy: Returned to Indians
Dowdy was returned to Cleveland after he was designated for assignment by the Rangers on Thursday, Tribeinsider reports. He was then assigned to Double-A Akron.
Dowdy cleared waivers, but as a Rule 5 pick, he was offered back to the Indians, who then accepted him back. After struggling to a 7.25 ERA and 1.97 WHIP with 17 strikeouts over 22.1 innings this season in the big leagues, he'll look to build some confidence at Double-A.

Rangers' Kyle Dowdy: Activated, booted off 40-man roster
Dowdy (elbow) was activated from the 60-day injured list and then designated for assignment by the Rangers on Thursday, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
Dowdy missed time on the shelf due to a right elbow impingement, and even though he's returned to health, the Rangers have sent him to the waiver wire. If the Rule 5 pick goes unclaimed, he'll need to be offered back to the Indians, per Wilson.

Rangers' Kyle Dowdy: Kicks off rehab assignment
Dowdy (elbow) began a minor-league rehab assignment last week and has made three appearances, giving up one run on two hits and three walks across 3.1 innings.
Dowdy kicked off his rehab assignment with an outing for the Rangers' rookie-level Arizona League affiliate before moving up to Triple-A Nashville for his last two appearances. The right-hander is expected to stick around in the Pacific Coast League through the All-Star break before likely returning from the 10-day injured list to open the second half.

Rangers' Kyle Dowdy: Commences rehab program
Dowdy (elbow) reported to the Rangers' spring-training facility in Arizona on Thursday to begin a throwing program, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Dowdy, who has been on the injured list since June 4, is slated to throw multiple bullpen sessions before the Rangers assess whether he's ready to face hitters. Given that Dowdy is a Rule 5 pick with a 7.25 ERA and 17:18 K:BB in 22.1 innings at the big-league level this season, the Rangers probably won't look to rush him back quickly.

Rangers' Kyle Dowdy: Out with elbow impingement
Dowdy was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a right elbow impingement, retroactive to Saturday.
Dowdy last pitched May 26 against the Angels, which appears to be when he suffered the injury. He'll be eligible to return beginning June 11, though the Rangers have yet to establish a timeline for the reliever's return. Brett Martin was recalled from Triple-A Nashville in a corresponding move.

Rangers' Kyle Dowdy: Lasts three innings
Dowdy allowed three runs on four hits and three walks while striking out two over three innings in Wednesday's 6-5 loss to Oakland.
Dowdy was the emergency starter after the Rangers placed Drew Smyly on the 10-day injured list with an arm injury. Smyly is the second Texas starter to hit the IL while another starter, Shelby Miller, is averaging a little under four innings per outing. That has opened up innings for guys like Dowdy, who has pitched no fewer than two innings in any of his four appearances. The Rangers are thin at starting pitching depth and need to adjust their rotation on the fly. That could open up an opportunity for Dowdy, who was a starter in the minors, although it's unlikely given that he's a Rule 5 selection and may be overmatched by MLB hitters.

Rangers' Kyle Dowdy: Making first MLB start
Dowdy will enter the rotation to start Wednesday's game against the Athletics.
It's the first MLB start for Dowdy, a Rule 5 selection over the winter who has made his first four appearances with the Rangers out of the bullpen. Considering the right-hander has maxed out at 3.2 innings (57 pitches) over the four outings, he'll likely have a short leash as he steps into the rotation in place of the injured Drew Smyly (arm). Smyly's injury is believed to be a minor concern that may only force him to miss one start, so Dowdy could be set for a move back to the bullpen after Wednesday's outing.

Rangers' Kyle Dowdy: Posts first MLB win
Dowdy (1-0) allowed one run on one hit and two walks while striking out one over 2.2 innings in Monday's 12-7 win over the Angels.
Dowdy picked up his first major league win -- the sixth win overall by a Texas reliever -- after coming in for a shaky Shelby Miller. The Rule 5 pick from the Blue Jays hadn't pitched in 11 days, but could be in line for more work as Rangers starters have pitched five or more innings just five times in 15 games.

Rangers' Kyle Dowdy: Pitching in multi-inning role
Dowdy will take on a higher profile in the wake of Edinson Volquez (elbow) being placed on the injured list, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Dowdy looked sharp Thursday, striking out three over two scoreless innings in a win over the Angels. His fastball, which jumped up to 95 mph last year, worked well Thursday but more importantly, he threw nine breaking balls (eight for strikes). "I've been trying to fine tune some things," Dowdy said. "It was a lot sharper. And I think that's a good boost of confidence. I can't rely strictly on fastballs. The slider was effective." His role will evolve after the Volquez injury. Manager Chris Woodward plans to move long reliever Adrian Sampson into the rotation, leaving Dowdy and Jeffrey Springs as bullpen inning eaters for a rotation that still has two pitchers returning from Tommy John surgery.

Rangers' Kyle Dowdy: Scooped by Rangers
Dowdy was claimed off waivers by the Rangers on Tuesday.
Dowdy was selected by the Mets in December's Rule 5 draft but was sent to waivers after failing to secure a spot on the team's Opening Day roster. The Rangers will now have to keep the young right-hander, who compiled a 5.56 ERA and 7:7 K:BB through 11.1 innings this spring, on their 25-man roster all season if they want to retain his rights. Dowdy figures to fill a low-leverage relief role for Texas.

Mets' Kyle Dowdy: Still in running for bullpen job
Dowdy remains in the running for the final spot in the Mets' bullpen, Deesha Thosar of The New York Daily News reports.
The Rule 5 pick has had an awful spring, posting a 7.36 ERA and 3:6 K:BB through 7.1 innings, but the club has apparently still seen enough to keep Dowdy around rather than offer him back to Cleveland. The right-hander isn't yet assured of a bullpen spot, however. The Mets could elect to keep six relievers instead of seven, a roster spillover from the decision to take both Dominic Smith and Pete Alonso north.
